School gives you the first set of qualifications you have, without good grades you won't be accepted into a course or a first job. You can either climb up the ladder or fall and break your legs.
As much as I love this series it's not that serious I can wait until schools over to play a video game I mean I did the same thing when GTA V came out and I didn't miss anything
I would request the day off in advance if we had a legit release date. But, since Telltale gives the release date info roughly a week or so before the episode is released I can't do that since at my job you need to put in a request three weeks before the date.
I also wouldn't be guaranteed the day off even if we knew & I requested it 'cause that's how my job rolls unfortunately. ;(
As for skipping, I'm only allowed three missed days (includes sick days since they don't accept doctor notes & the missed days roll off my record every six months), and I'd rather use them for emergencies like the car breaking down, being sick, etc.

Here in Sweden the episodes usually releases at 7 PM, so I never am in school when they release.
