A New Day: Forum Edition. (AKA: Turn this into something POSITIVE guys!)

  • I joined this forum back during the beginning of the year. I never saw or experienced, what I guess people are calling, "the good ol' days." The good news is, despite the negativity and sourness that infiltrated the community, that this isn't the worst I have seen in a forum. There are franchises where it is much worse. We have a chance to clean things up. This is A New Day. The onslaught of trolls, perverts, and negative over the past several months have left us Starved For Help. We have a Long Road Ahead as we better ourselves and the forum. As we walk together Around Every Corner, let us not be filled with doubt thinking that we have No Time Left. All That Remains right now is our will to change. If we don't change, we will end up becoming A House Divided on a road the will leave us In Harm's Way. Though is may seem as if we are Amid The Ruins of our past mistakes, let us rise from the ashes like a Phoenix. Let us move forward together and a adopt a mindset that, once we make progress, there is No Going Back. Together we can can do this. I have faith in this forum. We can do it!

  • I see what you did there...

  • This whole shitstorm has been a long time coming. I agree completely that people are getting more hateful and toxic by the day. I try my best to stay out of arguments, but I've found myself pulled into a few over the last couple of months. Unfortunately, I don't think amputating the thumb with cure what ails us.

Our problems boil down to a fundamental lack of respect. We blow petty, inane bullshit so far out of proportion that we flame others simply for disagreeing. I find it really disappointing. When I joined back in March, this place was so inviting, despite the trolls and Rule 34 debacle. I remember a comment I made on some discussion about who your friends are in this community. My answer: 'Almost all of you are awesome. This is the friendliest community that I've ever been a part of.'

I can't really say that anymore and it's depressing as fuck. Part of it's my fault, I know. I've become more cynical and unfriendly towards newcomers than I'd care to admit. I've snapped at people, some of whom probably didn't deserve it.

Let's be honest, we can't makes the forums all better and give everyone a fresh start. What we can do is try to be friendlier and more understanding. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm willing to try.

  • Today is A New Day for all of us :3

I would make a really long and meaningful post about this, and how awesome the rebuilding of these forums will be, but....

I was on the forum during Season 1 (no votes at all) and then ignored it during the offseason and Season 2. I can say it's taken a huge nosedive being infested by tumblr's SJWs and a lot of users acting so childish, but I'm glad that can change now. Fuck the downvotes. I can sincerely say that in my time here, I've never used them once

This, please. The forum has been so bad during the last 18 hours.

  • Less circlejerk-y and more discussion oriented

Cool talking to a forum oldie, by the way.

  • Get rid of the upvote and bring back polls, quoting and things will imrpive so much more

  • No, let's not rebuild it. A house requires a rebuild when it is damaged from outside, but not when its residents take up weapons and start smashing at its walls and at each other. Especially when someone who got smashed was one of the housekeepers.

  • What you've described would require the residents to be forced to leave. And that just shouldn't happen, we need to give people chances to make up for it.

Plus, the people who did the smashing aren't necessarily the ones who will do the rebuilding in which case the metaphor still works! :p

Well, this makes it worse, IMO. Some folks went out of their way to wreak havoc, but it is up to those who remain to clean up after them and rebuild. Meh.

  • But lots of the people who broke the house will never be allowed back in the house again once we've rebuilt it.

  • This is the kind of attitude we need right now and look at the positives. I might not know exactly what went down but I see things have changed (I've been here from nov of last year I was just really tired of the name I had and made a new account) so just look at the positives and add to them

  • I haven't, I don't think so.

The forum is going through some deep shit right now. I just woke up today to see that it turned into a massive clash between two sides. I've been on this forum only since the march of this year, so I'm a newbie here. But a couple of months were enough for me to realize how cool this forum is. And now what? We're turning on eachother. Become bullies. Wish deaths for someone else. Is this what this forum was created for? I thought this is the place where you discuss anything with respect and friendliness. The place where you can find good people. What have it turned into?

We must respect everyone here. Make this place good and peaceful. We'll end this all as a family. Because we are a family.

Now, let's hug and forgive eachother.
