*EDIT* Is there Anyone who even Likes Luke Anymore? Yes, there is.

I seriously don't get why people hate him so much. I feel like all I see on here anymore is the Luke is bad because (insert reasons here) and Kenny is God Kenny is Love Kenny is Life (insert reasons here.) they're both good characters who have their flaws and have their own problems but they also have redeemable qualities. But oh no, not Luke, he's the devil? Seriously. What has Luke done that's so damn awful? Yeah he did the nasty with Jane, and yeah he f***** up, but Kenny has too!

I know people have their loyalties lie with Kenny because they've been with him longer, but does choosing one over the other really mean hating the one you won't choose if this is the Pizza v. Ice Cream choice?

EDIT

WOW. All this Luke love is refreshing. I'm glad that people have been able to come forward and share their opinions on Luke. I'd like to reply to everyone, but I wasn't expecting to get this much feedback.

Bottom line is, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Luke and Kenny are different men, with different morals, different values, different opinions. Its OKAY that not everyone likes Kenny, and it's okay that not everyone likes Luke. But we can't demonize one because of one or two mistakes. Now that the dislike button is gone, people who have a problem with a character have to voice their opinion verbally instead of just using a dislike button.

I love both Luke and Kenny. But I stand for Luke. Not because I dislike Kenny, but because I think he's a good guy.

High five to everyone who have shared their thoughts! :D

Lots of people like Luke. It's just that the people who don't are quite loud about it.

I adore Luke and would be in the worst mood ever if he died.

  • I still like him. I won't be devastated if he dies, but I certainly don't want him to. He's a good guy even if immature.

  • If there is a kenny and luke choice I have always thought kenny but now that I REALLY think about it I don't know who I'm gonna pick. It's so hard , and I'm a HUGE kenny fan.

  • No most people like Luke. Its only a few hardcore Kenny fans (who honestly have probably been waiting for an excuse) and a few people who have exaggerated a moment of weakness/passion after a stressful period (wrong perhaps but not worth hating him over).

Honestly I think I like Luke more after ep 4, before that he had no depth whatsoever and was generic nice guy 465. Dont get me wrong I dont love him or anything, hes still kind of whiny and judgemental

  • I feel like they try to demonize Luke. If it wasn't him "abandoning" the group in Ep 2 then it's him sleeping with Jane. Kenny has done bad shit to, do they choose not to remember that?! Bleh.

  • Green likes him he fucks with him....

I think a lot of his hate comes from the fact that he's set up to be Kenny's opposite. Since there's a somewhat rivalry between the two, Kenny's fans get defensive and start bashing Luke.

  • Luke's my favorite character this season, actually. Yeah I got mad at him in Episode 4, but I still like him. I like Kenny too. I love them both, but I get a little more defensive of Luke because he gets a lot of (IMO, undeserved) hate.

  • What Luke did kinda bugged me, but I don't really care anymore. I still like him

  • I like him less than I used to, but he's still one of my favorite's from the cabin group, coming just after Pete.

  • I miss Pete... :(

  • I agree. I think a lot of people liked Luke back in Episode 1 or at least, they thought he was okay. And then Kenny showed up again and instantly disliked Luke and it kind of spiraled from there. Which is unfortunate, because you know together the two of them and Clem could make an awesome team.

  • I agree. It's easy for people to focus on the mistakes someone they don't like makes than it is to acknowledge the faults their favourite has.

Luke messes up, there's no arguing that, but he gets a lot of undeserved hate. He has a good heart and clearly loves his group. People will always try to find something to not like about him. Even if he travels for days without food or sleep, they'll always bring up the fact that Luke wasn't there when they were captured (even though he obviously did not abandon them).

I feel like they try to demonize Luke. If it wasn't him "abandoning" the group in Ep 2 then it's him sleeping with Jane. Kenny has done bad shit to, do they choose not to remember that?! Bleh.

  • I really liked Luke but when Kenny came in season 2, they had to set up that very annoying rivalry between Kenny and Luke which I get what they're trying to do, but it gets way too frustrating when you have to choose who's side your on. Sort of like Kenny and Lilly in season 1 :P

  • EXACTLY. Just because Kenny said he walked off people assume Luke just left. But IMO Kenny and Luke got into a spat and Luke walked off to take a minute and when he came back it was too late. Does him not physically exhausting himself to catch up the group not show how much he cared about the group?

  • I still like Luke, not as much as I used to, but episode 5 can easily change that. I just think Luke gets a lot of unwarranted hate solely because of the fact that he's pitted against Kenny, and the few vocal Kenny fans that don't like Luke have been waiting for an opportunity to finally have something to use against him, and now they can with what happened in episode 4.

I honestly don't see the point though, since you can love both characters even if you have to choose between them, or if you just don't like one of them, whatever, there's no need to be like "I don't like this character because this character is so much better than them". Like really, not liking a character just because you like another character more is one of the worst reasons for disliking a character. I'm honestly so tired of seeing people go back and forth arguing about the two because of this supposed pizza vs. ice cream choice that may not even be about them.

  • Alright, my deal about the whole sex thang, is I'm pretty sure it takes two to tango. Jane deserves EQUAL blame IMO. Yeah I'm mad at both of them. But if were really mad at him for that, it's only fair we be mad at both Jane and Luke not just Luke exclusively. Because if it was one sided then it would be rape. But it wasn't.

I'm actually really annoyed they never explained what exactly happened at the lodge, because I see so many people use Luke "disappearing" then as a reason why he's untrustworthy and hate on him for it, all while they completely neglect the fact that Luke didn't abandon them because he came back for them... even exhausting himself for days for it.

  • then he tried to make his fuck-up look not as big by blaming kenny

When did Luke blame Kenny for anything? Luke owned up to his mistake and apologized twice for it.

him abandoning the group in ep 2

He did not abandon the group. We don't know what happened between the time he went off with Kenny and Carver's group lead them away. If he abandoned them, he wouldn't have come back for them like he did. He could have been like, "lol see ya" and went off to find a new group - but he didn't. He went for days without rest and food so he could help them break out (for the second time).

wanting to leave folks behind in ep 3

He didn't want to leave Kenny behind. He advocated for staying another night so that they could give Kenny time, let Sarita get herself together, and allow himself to rest so their plan could work better. Everyone else was saying, "we gotta leave now!" and Luke got annoyed that nobody was seeing what he did. The cabin group worked as a democracy, so Luke gave in and said: "Hey guys, we can go tonight if you really want to, but understand that means we'll have to leave people who can't follow behind."

oh my goodness.. he did it at least 6 times! making up things that Kenny did and randomly blaming Kenny for the randomness of bullshit!

    He did not abandon

I'm pretty sure he didn't mean abandon, but possibly planning on abandoning

He didn't want to leave Kenny behind

    "We'll have to"

umm how is this not wanting to leave him behind?

  • its not good to suggest leaving folks at all... also, i dont remember it word to word and it's a bit of a fail phrasing from my side - i meant that he opposed Kenny, demanding that they would stay there for some time, also saying Kenny is a creep because he is bonded to the baby. he abandoned it for some time. he came back but he abandoned it for some time nonetheless

I never hated Kenny or Luke. Truth be told, I have lost a lot of interest in both characters.

    When? Give me specific examples.

There's nothing Luke has done in previous episodes that makes this in character for him. It's assuming.

umm how is this not wanting to leave him behind?

Because he doesn't want to? He's playing devils advocate in order to get everyone to realize that they will have to leave him behind if they want to go so badly? He's being outnumbered.
