It can be when someone does it right. Look at Louis CK. That man is a genius at comedy but thats all he is. A comedian. The problem is that people tend to take comedians like Louis CK like some sort of prophet. "He said Nigger in his stand up that means i can too" Seriously fuck those people.

That argument doesn't work when the post is specifically about how minor racism isn't funny.

  • exactly what i mean. the difference between those people and Louis CK is that Louis CK is smart.

  • Yes. There's no point in getting worked up about it. I still enjoy a good Doge meme on occasion but I know plenty of people who are so sick of it.

If what you're saying is true, then it is an unavoidable cycle that is merely cut short if a joke offends a gorup of people. As such, I dpon'#t see anything specifically wrong with it.

Jokes get old in real life. Just in real life, we don't have 20 people trying to make them at the same time, all the damn time like they do in internet forums.

What occurs is logical, and there is no point fighting against it.

Actually the difference is that Louis is a comedian and doesn't pretend to be other wise. He's actually came out on record stating he's regretted his "Nigger" bit because the internet latched onto that like some moral statement.

You know..Black is a word, right? And it describes a dark thing, so calling someone who is white black is kinda wrong ( no racism I mean from describing the race / identification )

This often happens with age and growing up: often, Children's skin colour gradually becomes closer to their parents'.

In season one, Clem is a yellowy white colour, but has clear african-american facial, and hair, features. As time moves on, her race is becoming more apparent, as she becomes more adult, which is logical.

  • She looks overly pale in the picture, though, although she might be a hybird like (her parents) but she's not black. Even when Sandra extended her hand to Clementine, Clem was easily more pale.

I disagree with your notion that jokes can't hurt anyone.

Making jokes at the expense of races, sexes or sexual minorities often make them feel like shit.

Example: someone doing an 'impression of a gay person' as a joke. Which really enforces stereotypes. That was harmful to me, I grew up believing I was an abomination due to the frequency of 'butt pirate' jokes or 'woman in man's body' jokes at school.

Words can harm people, no matter what form they are expressed though. Poems can harm, speeches can harm, and yes, jokes can harm.

Also, your Racoon analogy makes no sense. Racoons aren't human minorities. No racoons will find that joke makes them believe they don't deserve to exist as gay jokes did to me. Not in the least because Racoons don't understand english.

  • I agree with what you mean, but to an extent. I sometimes do an impression of a brat girl, but it could be interpreted as a gay impression. I, in no way, mean it like that, but it shouldn't really hurt someone. If they take it the wrong way, then they are being too insecure (Not like you were, I mean if it wasn't directed like that).

If someone says an urban joke, based off of Kenny, and someone gets butthurt, so be it. In no way did that someone mean it to be offensive, and in no way should it be. If someone said a white joke, an easter egg towards TWG lets say, still nobody should be offended. If it isn't directed in a hateful way, and it isn't plain rude, it is harmless.

This will be the last time I post in this thread tonight, I'm sure you'll be glad to get shot of me. Anyway, I think this quote from Stephen Fry basically sums up this situation. (THIS situation, not all of them, don't mistake this for me saying people should let everything blow over them)

“It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.'

As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase.

'I am offended by that.' Well, so fucking what."

  • If I find something wrong I speak up against it. There is meaning behind that. It's called courage. When you speak up about something you deem offensive it can an eye opener to others. Should we expect change every time. Nope. But we can make a difference.

  • I'm not surprised this thread has had so many replies. Its such a hot issue. Always will be.

For me, race doesn't matter. I respect people from all cultures and made friends with many people from different countries. It's such a privilege to be able to learn from one another and it saddens me that some people trivialize it and judge people, and so on. Personality is far more important than the way you look.

  • as along as people are different races there will be racism no way around it.
