Scariest Games You've Ever Played

edited September 2014 in General Chat

Five Nights at Freddy's is the scariest game I've ever played. I swear, I had to sleep with the lights on later that night.

Edit: Oh yeah and Dream of the Blood Moon was pretty damn creepy too. I don't care if it's just a copy and paste of Slender, it still scares the shit out of me.

  • When he jumpscared me, I literally cowered in fear by curling up into a ball on the couch. That's how fucking scary the chicken is.

  • Me too man. I think what makes him even more terrifying then the other characters is that he has teeth. He's supposed to be a chicken! He shouldn't have teeth!

Gta v, Trevor makes me shit myself.

  • Any game in the silent hill series still freaks me out till this day.

  • I think it was Slender hahaha x)

  • Outlast. I couldn't play that game by myself XD Doctor Trager chases me in my dreams.

  • Half Life 1 is fucking horrifying in my opinion due to the ceiling barnacles...O_0

  • Diablo 2, man. Then again, I was only 5 or 6 years old when I played it, so being really young contributed to that quite a bit. Walking through dark temples and running into a pile of corpses out of nowhere really screwed with my mind back then. That damn Durance of Hate with the Lake of Blood and Bridge of Skulls that leads to the Portal to Hell that was summoned through the souls of the screaming damned terrified me.

  • The first Resident Evil.

  • Among the Sleep was kinda creepy.

Might play Outlast when I get a PS4 sooner or later.

  • Outlast is by far the scariest game i have ever played. The sound and graphics were by far advanced for a horror game.

  • Spec-Ops: The Line - No jumps scares, but has some of the most horrifying scenes of any game I've ever played.

Call of Cthulhu - It's just you and your dinky little pistol against the horrors of the cosmos...sleep tight.

  • Not many games scare me, but, Silent Hill does a pretty damn good job.

Silent Hill 2. I remember all the unsettling feelings I had when playing it, running blindly through the apartments and then later in the otherworld version of Brookhaven. Ah yes, good times.

No Resident Evil games are scary IMO, they all consist of cheap jump scares and cliche horror moments but that doesn't stop them from being fun. I love RE.

Fatal Frame was also pretty effective, but was mostly jump scares. If a game has to rely entirely on jump scares, then it fails. That's what is so good about SH, it relies on the story, psychological aspect, atmosphere and creature design to scare you rather than cheap jump scares. I haven't play PT yet, but I've seen plenty of playthrough's of it by many YouTubers and it definitely looks very intense, and has great potential to being one of the scariest games ever created. It's currently the game I'm most hyped for.

I haven't seen any gameplay of Five nights at Freddy's, but I've heard it was pretty terrifying, and I've seen like the first 10 minutes of Outlast.

Outlast and fucking P.T. (Silent Hills). I hate them, but at the same time I love 'em.

  • OH SHIT! Its THAT game! I remember Mark playing it. That damn twig bitch and her mask. :'(

  • I've had one jumps scare in HL1 and that was an armoured grunt just opening a door my face was just embedded in.

Half Life 1 is fucking horrifying in my opinion due to the ceiling barnacles...O_0

  • Hm, I don't know. Most of the horror games I've played didn't really scare me, per say. I guess Exmortis?

  • first time I played F.E.A.R series. I am talking about the first two games and the dlc's for them not the 3rd game. Creapy Alma Wade leaving blood footprints. I did have nightmares playing these games but the awesome.

I haven't played many scary games.. but Amnesia: The Dark Descent was just ridiculous. Its a terror from the minute you start playing. I think I came pretty close to finishing it before.. but couldn't do it. It recommends you play it in a dark room with headphones to really get into the environment... and yeah. I can't even explain it really. Its just intense. Your character can actually go insane and becomes a sobbing mess on the floor if you aren't careful.. which can potentially attract monsters to come and kill you... so that's always fun. You can't even fight back against the monsters, you just have to run for your life or find a place to hide.

Think I'll give it another shot.
