Why was it specifically nine days?

So as you all know, every ending takes place nine days after the Kenny/Jane choice. But why is it specifically nine days? They could have chosen any amount of days (besides 1 or 2 as the Howe's or Wellington endings would seem a bit unrealistic), so why choose 9? The 9 day skip complicates the problem of AJ's food, you can assume they (or just Clem) found him food, but from where?
So, does the nine day skip have any relevancy at all, will they use it for something in the future, or will it just go unexplained?

I think it's just to make things easier in season 3 if they bridge all the endings together, so that the same things don't happen on different days.

Alone ending would have been better without the 9 day skip, it would show that things are much more dire when Clem has no one to take care of her.
Why God make the forbidden fruit in the first place?
Perhaps the 9 day skip, as well as the 16 month skip, will be the subject if there is a dlc for Season 2.

Given that we don't need to know exactly what day it is and it hasn't really played a role outside of 400 Days, it doesn't seem to have any relevance and I don't see the need for it to be consistent. It could have taken 9 days to get to Howe's but only 3 days to get to Wellington. The alone ending could have been the next day.
As it is, are we even all on the same day? Some options (like giving Rebecca more rest time) might shift the day if I remember correctly.
So yes, it seems to have been random and does raise the AJ survival question, although I guess that's true for all the endings.
