Just received my 'Signature' DVD's - Very Disappointed!
Just received my 'Walking Dead Season 2 & The Wolf Among Us Signature DVD's', what a massive disappointment...
Granted, I only paid the price of shipping to the UK but I would have had no problems paying extra money for it if it meant that the quality would be half decent. What I received was 2 bad quality 'back ups' (yes, games burned to a DVD-R - I could have just burned my own for less money.) with a cover that looks like it had been printed on a cheap-o inkjet with bad quality paper (fuzzy, low quality image). The 'signature' is also just an image, not an actual signature (I was expecting that tbh)
I have previously received the Back to the Future and Monkey Island DVD's and have been really pleased with them. This is a massive let down. Wish I had just bought the games on Steam so I could at least get achievements (I decided to order direct from TT to get these DVD's only).
Rubbish.
Comments
It does say digitally signed signature...
Yup, and I said I expected it to be a digital signature.
No excuse for the poor quality inkjet cover artwork and DVD-R disc!!!
On a DVD-R disk?... that doesnt sound right surely...... where did you buy them?..
Completely agree. I would ask for my money back if it wasn't for that i'd have to send the DVD back, which will cost me more than i paid for it in the first place.
Lesson learned: Don't buy anything directly from TT again.
Yup, a standard purple DVD-R with a printed top. The cover is the worst bit, its awful quality. Looks like a pirate copy. I want some sort of compensation for wasting my money on this...
The Monkey Island and BTTF discs are excellent, they just seem to have completely given up with these. If I worked for Telltale I'd be embarrassed about sending these out to customers.
Where exactly did you buy it?
Directly from the Telltale store (as in this exact same website you are looking at now)
This is thier own official 'signature' series DVD.
If you brought them directly from this site I would request my money back asap, thats not on at all...
Strange there other specials are verry good and you got this heap of crap... I would contact TT asap, somthing has to have gone wrong here, maybe it was employee having a laugh? That sounds like somthing I would do lol, it does happen..
Get on to em asap.. preferably get some pics as well
Good luck
YOU KNOW AHT I AGREE!
GRR TTG HOW DARE U!
At least their games are playable, Dragon Age doesn't even work and i paid one hundred twenty dollars for that POS Game.
I got mine yesterday. I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I opened the box. You guys aren't exaggerating, they do indeed look like dodgey pirated covers and discs that came from some shonky seller on ebay for $5. There wasn't even any exclusive content, not even so much as a jpeg image to at least make it somewhat unique. FFS, they might as well have just sent us a blank DVD-R with a post-it note saying "download game, burn to disc" since they obviously couldn't give 2 shits about their loyal customers who only payed for the sodding game(s) almost a year before they were even finished and released!
Collectors Edition
Sad news this....
Not another great dev going down the toilet!
I contacted TellTale support shortly after starting this thread, they are yet to respond, probably too embarrassed to admit to making these. I won't be buying anything from their store again that's for sure! Absolutely no indication on the store page to say this is a DVD-R with a dodgy printed cover!!
Inquisition? What's not working for you?
$120? Did you get the limited edition or something? Gimme gimme gimme!!
GOTY
POS
ok
yh ok
telltale r illuminati!!!!! too ashamed!!!!!!!!! conspiraceey!!!!!
No dude, they're not 'too ashamed'. They always take a while to respond.
Also why are you telling us you won't buy from them again? It won't affect our decisions whether we do or not, and Telltale won't care about the (potential, as most threats like this are BS) loss of one customer.
Well they fixed it now, There were issues with my PS4 copy that was causing it to not work correctly.
Gotcha. I know I was really angry at the game a few days ago. I have 70+ hours in my character and I tried to log on and it told me the save was corrupt. Good thing I scoured the Internet before lighting my ps4 on fife like I really wanted to do![:p :p](https://community.telltalegames.com/resources/emoji/tongue.png)
Enjoy the game!
After seeing the complete disregard for giving the customer something worth their time I wouldn't doubt if this costs quite a bit more than one customer. Also I'm pretty sure he knows they're not ashamed of what they've given out, more so that they should be ashamed of it.
man,
I screwed up on my romance, and i guessed i missed out on it. My character beat the game "forever alone status" That should be an achievement. I would laugh.
"beat the game without romancing anyone."
Is your game working now? Mine worked with a few minor flaws, sometimes cutscenes would pop, but they fixed the game breaking bugs imo, like the Hawk Dialogue bug.
I found the game a bit easy, especially the final boss.
I romanced Cullen. Nothing special. I wish I would have gone with Blackwall or The Iron Bull, both of those romances are much more interesting than the one I went with, for various reasons. How did you miss your romance?![:p :p](https://community.telltalegames.com/resources/emoji/tongue.png)
Yeah it's working fine now. It has had some annoying instances like freezing during dialogue and having to skip entire conversations just to continue (with Hawke actually, so I'm not sure if that's the glitch you were talking about). But that only happened twice or so, and the other glitches were too trivial to recall.
As for it being easy? So far from what I've seen, yes. I started on normal and had to bump it up to the next level to make it slightly exhilarating. The dragons are a breeze, very disappointed with them to be frank. But the story is phenomenal and interesting. I'm a sucker for fantasy, so when I universe gets it as on the head as this one has I can't help but be drawn in. So much lore. My favorite part so far was SPOILER when we went to find the well of sorrows (the last part I completed in the game, so don't tell me anything that happens afterwards!).not because it had the best boss fight, or an amazing new mechanic, but because it gave us insight into the world of the ancient elves, which I thought was really cool. Anyways, I'm rambling on... I like the game be it interests me, not because it's hard to complete.
I got to the part where i could ask Jose to go out to the garden and kiss, but that was as far as i got. She wouldn't give any love, all she would do is hold her tablet and candle. I saved the world for her, and all she can do is complain about the cakes.
I didn't care for Iron Bull, i didn't speak to him in my play through. It'll give me a reason some day to play it again and see what his character was about some for , Solas, Veric,Cole, Dorian etc. Its my way of inventing more replay material.
The only glitch that really pissed me off was the dialogue bug, it begins with the hawk quest when your about to assault the GW stronghold, the dialogue choices were unselectable and you weren't able to make any judgements or choices.
Now that it is fixed. I'd give it a strong 8-9.
I loved the dragon fights, sometimes you have to invent your own challenges. If you over level the dragons, there really isn't much left to do. I personally believe all the dragons should scale to your level. Maybe give them a base level, but if the DA: hero is level 15 that dragon levels to 15. It would of been nice if they gave more back story or some rewards in all the side quests. A lot of them felt really pointless. By the end of my first play through i had 240 power after the final boss. There really wasn't much left to do.
Oh one thing that is still bugged, i did not get the achievement for killing all 10 dragons. It took me a few hours to down a couple of them.
Haha that sucks. I was rather disappointed with the female LI this time around. It makes me happy I chose to make a female PC instead of a male, at least I had one girl in the story that was pretty and had an interesting personality. But I digress.
As for The Iron Bull, he was probably one of my top 4 favorite characters. I never used him until I was well into the game. When I did he had the funniest lines whenever we were out in the world, especially with Solas, Viv, and above all Cole.
Yep! That's the one I got. Still a bit hazy on what actually went down at that stronghold xD. I'm very reserved with my high scores, so I'd give it a 7-8, though I haven't seen the end so that could potentially change.
A couple things that annoyed me about this game.
I have a entire castle but not one single item box to store things ...
I never figured out how to upgrade "Bianca", since Verric leaves party in sky hold, you can't upgrade it because its not on you. I didn't really use Verric though. I liked Serra's personality better, she was fun.
Like side missions on the war table felt pointless. There really wasn't any reason to send your people off on the war table. Nothing mattered, it didn't matter what choice you made. I remember my character was a elf, so Cullen is telling me the Shems are attacking my Clan, i send my forces... You think they would of made this into a little side quest thing, with a few cut scenes but no. Nothing.
Just a letter that says my Dalish family has been killed.
+30 influence I was like REALLY WTF.
The difficulty in the game doesn't scale well. Its very hard in the beginning, then gets super easy at the end, especially after the patch. I don't know what they did to Cassandra but they buffed her as a tank. They gave her some new ability that lets her compete with Blackwall. After the patch she was putting a grey barrier on everyone, she wasn't doing that before the patch.
The invisible walls, and terrain mapping. This game brought back memories trying to walk around mountains in Fallout New Vegas. I remember spending hours trying to find the exact route i needed to take to get to a quest, or whatever. It was so annoying, the map should of been more detailed to explain, the exact route you would need to go,
Finding Fredrick quest was bugged and i spent maybe 3 hours trying to do it. Still is to my knowledge.
The horses/mounts seemed boring/pointless. I spent most of my time running around running from shard to shard collecting.
The absent storage box was very, very annoying. Now this game doesn't have a whole lot of items that you would want to store. Most of it either doesn't add to your used capacity or you put it on and sell the old item. What items don't fit either description, though, just sits in your bag taking up space and making the amount of time you fan spend in the open world that much shorter.
Varric was only the start. The entire weapon and armor customization was a bit shoddy in my opinion. It wasn't largely necessary, and took more time, ingredients, and patients than should have been required. Once I got it figured out it was interesting, but not truly worth the time or effort. For Varric all you need to do is find the modules his weapon uses and go to the weapon customization thing, scroll down to his character and access his weapon sheet, then put in the modules.
I really enjoyed the table. Even if what you say is true and no matter who you decide to send on that particular mission the outcome is the same (I can't say one way or the other, only having played through one time), it was the feeling that those choice mattered that mattered to me. Like how to go about retrieving Rainier from his cell if you so choose. Any way you pick he will end up back at your keep, but it feels different whether you choose to steal him back, politically gamble him back, or take him with force. It also gave further context to your accomplishments, failures, and ventures in the world. How did your coming and going from a place affect it? Did it leave people safe and happy? Miserable and distraught? Hungry? Poor? In war? The table is largely irrelevant if you don't read the missions and get invested in what the game was having you do, though. So to that point it's only interesting to people who really get immersed in the world and who, often times, don't feel like their doings in the game have any real effects on the universe they're in.
Agreed. I died numerous times in the beginning to the point it was infuriating, then it got to the perfect level of difficulty before rapidly hopping to a very easy state. Which is where I had to bump up the difficulty because it was growing stale. The majority of it is too easy though.
I absolutely loved the open world-ish planning they had set for their environments. I think they accomplished it very well. I only ran into an invisible wall a few times at places I obviously wasn't supposed to be able to get to. They tried very hard to allow the physical environment to keep you inside the map with clicliffs, bodies of water, etc. The map wasn't very straight forward, but I adapted to it. The only map I've had difficulty dining my way around is the one I'm in right now, the exalted plains (I think? The one where Celene's and her brother's armys are duking it out?)
The mounts are an utter disappointment. They're, for the lack of a better word, extremely clunky. They don't go much faster than if you were on foot. It's easy to get dismounted on the run. They get caught on half the shit in the world, whether it be a pebble or a low hanging leaf. They don't allow you to use the search button. They don't look that cool. Just.. blah.
My greatest disappointment is still the lack in number of, lack in interesting personality of, and lack of good body of the female love interest :P
Most of mine were crafting materials. I would see a herb pick it up. I never bothered with half of them, i didn't bother with researching the other types of potions other than heal. They made crafting better with the new patch. Then i would get equipment i'd want to keep for other characters, but the game made it such a hassle to equip/dequip people in Skyhold.
I agree with you on this point, I mean Jose was cute for her accent, but they made the only female elf a lesbian, my character was a elf. Thanks game. I really liked Sera's personality, she seemed like a lot of fun, there was one scene where she starts pranking the other people, that is something i would be involved in. I
Jose was the only female I would really even consider forking. Cassandra was cool, but she was too grisly in personality and had more scars than all professional boxers combined. Sera was butt ass uggo. My elf was much prettier (PS character creator in this game gets a solid B+... A+ if the hair didn't look like plastic). To be completely honest though I don't like Sera's personality. She was ass backwards on most points than me, but pranking people with her was funny as hell. If only they had made her less "fuck everyone, the world is stupid" and more "good times with good people."
I got to the part where you can ask her to dance at the ball, then i my character kissed her in his room but that is as far as he got.
Yeah she was a little Alpha Female, kinda hard to fall for her when she got a sword to your neck the entire game. I eventually started coming around, but that was late late game, i may try to flirt with her on my next play through and see if i can get anywhere. I did like her personality, but i had made the choice i would only pursue one female, I'm not sure in this game if you can have multiple relationships or just one.
I thought she was cute, she wasn't perfect and that is what i liked about her. I really liked her personality, i pretty much agreed with her on most things. If you take her with you to the encounter with the fear demon its pretty funny.
Today I was considering buying both "The Walking Dead Season 2" and "The Wolf Among Us" directly from the Telltale store instead of buying the currently 75% discounted Steam versions for dirt cheap, just to have the "collectors" DVDs. I'm glad I found this thread, because there's no way I'm going to pay $50 if I'm receving crappy printable DVDs along with some shoddily printed covers! WTF, man?!
Telltale Games phisical editions used to be TOP NOTCH, with high quality printed covers, real silver pressed DVDs, and in some cases including well made cardboard boxes as well (Monkey Island, Jurassic Park and Back to the Future), along with bonuses such as artwork cards, buttons and other goodies. Also, the DVDs used to include extras and some even featured video commentaries.
What happened to all that professionally made stuff?! They fired the entire team who worked on that or what??!
How could they sink to such low bootleg quality after all that??? Not to mention that calling a signature which is part of a printed image a "digital signature" is a joke.
People who have received those crappy home-printed DVD-R editions need an explanation and a substitute professional silver pressed edition.
Something must have altered the time-space continuum at TTG HQ for this to be so bad...![;) ;)](https://community.telltalegames.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
Damn they use to go all out.
Sorry to hear about this. Hopefully this thread will serve as a way for those who received sub-par signature DVDs to band together and petition TT to make this right. Best of luck to you!
It won't. But it's a very nice thought![:p :p](https://community.telltalegames.com/resources/emoji/tongue.png)
Resurrecting this ol' dinosaur of a thread. Just wanted to add my thoughts on this, not that I'm expecting it to make a difference. I just feel like having a whinge:
So, basically I really think it sucks that Telltale have ditched the DVD-after-release scheme. Mostly because I love most of their games and I'm a firm believer in supporting the companies who make great games so they can make more, etc etc and also because I like to have physical copies of the games I buy. Maybe that's just the old'schoolness in me or whatever, but I'm the same with music. I'd much rather have something in my hand for the money I payed, as opposed to just the "digital code" on my PC which is a string of 1s and 0s that say I'm allowed to play this game legitimately. So in order for me to be able to play the game as early as possible and also have a physical copy, I'd essentially have to pay for it twice (once for the initial digital license then again when the finished product finally hits the shelves). While the special signature edition DVDs were very nice, I've resigned to the fact that these are never coming back.
However what I believe TT should be doing is offering the physical copies of their games once they become available at discounted prices to the customers who bought the entire game (season passes) before the finale release. I really don't think this is an unreasonable request at all and it would be a nice way to reward the people who put up their money on the promise that the game will be available to them in the near future.
What are "Signature DVD's"?
