  • I'm a sucker for a good shootout, so the Russian standoff in S2 E5 of the Walking Dead blew me away (pun intended). It's brutal, tense and well-coreographed; verything a good action scene should be.

Contrast it with the bandit attack during 'Long Road Ahead'. The difference is very noticeable.

That's really just the tip of the iceberg though. There's plenty of scenes in The Walking Dead, GoT and TWAU that could be argued.

  • I agree with the shootout from Season 2. While it doesn't make sense how no one from our side died, the whole thing was very tense and was nerve racking.

The Wolf Among Us has too many good scenes, so I'm giving it its own category:

    • The Crooked Man's trial
    • The City Chase scene
    • The Trip Trap Bar fight
    • The scene with Bigby and Snow in the taxi during Faith
  • Ben standing up to Kenny.

Ben died earlier in my playthrough so I never saw this scene until I watched someone's YouTube Let's Play, but I agree. That scene was pulled off really well!

TWD S1 * Talking to Clementine in the office of the drug store, it's the first time we really get to talk to her. * Clearing the motor

  • Nice list! By the way, I'm pleased to see that you also considered the games from the Telltale point and click era.

    Walking Dead -

Meeting Clem for the first time, the whole St.John scene after finding Mark, the first time meeting Omid and Christa and bringing the truck down, the whole scene in that town (cant believe I forget its name), and the facedown with the Stranger. In S2, I enjoyed the Ep2 bridge and cabin scene as well as turning on the speakers in Ep3.

    Wolf Among Us -

The whole intro scene, finding Faith's head, Lawrence apartment, Pudding n Pie and Open Arms scene, searching Crane's apartment (determinant), Tweedle fight, BM fight and trial.

    Tales from the Borderlands -

LoaderBot fight, Rhys and Sasha meeting Zer0, and. Fiona's race scene. This list will probably be a lot longer when the season is finished.

    Game of Thrones -

Red Wedding, Ethan and Ramsay/Mira and Cersei's "conversation", Asher's fight at the beginning of Ep2, talking with Jon Snow on top of the Wall, and the funeral scene at the end of Ep2. Same applies to this, the list will probably be a lot longer by the time the season is finished.

  • I agree with everything on you list... it's hard to believe that three years have passed since the first time we met Clementine.

Singlehandedly the greatest scene Telltale ever crafted.

The voice acting was top-notch (Rodrick and Talia in particular nail it).

The animation was surprisingly amazing too. The blue flames, Gwyn's design, Talia's lip syncing for the song and Rodrick, Royland, Duncan and Lady Foresters very expressive sadness during the whole scene (particularly Royland, didn't expect him to break down as he did).

The song was beautiful. I still remember all the lyrics off the top of my head.

It perfectly sets up the next episode. It shows just what the Foresters have lost and how much vengeance Rodrick and Elissa are going to seek.

No-one is out of character. Notice there is no straight 'evil' options in this scene. This makes sense seeing as how this is a funeral. I also loved we saw a vunerable side of Royland.

The ending itself is perfect. Talia's song, Mira washing blood of of her, Gared standing on the Wall, Asher, Malcolm and Beshka all looking badass leaving Essos, Lady Forester breaking down, the way you honour Ethan and Gregor by saying they were honorable, kind etc. Duncan and Royland's reaction, the glimmer of hope (Rodrick is alive and Talia's last line is 'Still iron rules anew') complete with Rodrick's badass stare. Perfect.

All those and more are why the funeral scene from 'The Lost Lords' gets my pick as Telltale's greatest scene ever.

  • That was a very powerful scene, and it will most likely remain my favorite scene from GOT even though the series isn't over yet.

Wow, there's been quite a few:

    • Lee and Clem at the end of season 1.

    • Kenny and Ben having it out with each other.

    • Snow being alive in episode 2 of TWAU.

    • When Bigby turns into his full wolf form (that was amazing!)

    • The funeral in GoT episode 2. Such a powerful scene, especially when Talia starts singing. I couldn't resist shedding a tear.

    • Lee cutting Clem's hair and teaching her how to shoot.

    • When Loaderbot landed on one of the bandits and said "Hi". Classic.

  • I can't remember what episode it's from but I loved the first time you go to the Pudding and Pie and confront Georgie in TWAU. Even if you choose not to mess any of his shit up, it's still really tense and cool. Also really liked the scene where you discover Greenleaf has glamoured herself, don't know why but I think it's the music partly. One thing about TT is that their recent games have awesome soundtracks, which I love. In TFTB the intro was amazing, I loved the Loaderbot vs bandits fight, both "blow his mind" and "break his heart" scenes, Rhys' master-plan, the conversation between him and Sasha when he's hacking the lift system, and of course that big chariot race thing where everyone dies.

  • It's from Episode 2, Smoke and Mirrors.

  • Bigby wolfing out when he first meets bloody Mary! I remember having the stupidest grin on my face when getting the option to kill Dum.

Max: Don't smoke kids! Unless you're on fire. Then it's only natural.

Bosco: Well, there is still one can of shaving cream the blooming skinbodies haven't got yet.

My absolute favourite scene from any Telltale game is the very end of the Wolf Among Us, surprised this hasn't been mentioned much.

The two girls speaking in Bigby's head, the sudden realisation, then he follows her.

'I'll see you round...' Scene cuts to black '.....Wolf.'

    Love it.

Just for the heck of it, I'll pick one (or more) moment(s) that stood out the most for me in all of Telltale's games.

    • Telltale Texas Hold'em: "You don't look like a Boris Krinkle, you look more like a Leonard Steakchalmer" (because he showed up later as Leonard in Sam & Max, with Max delivering the exact opposite of this line :P).
    • Bone: Out from Boneville: The scene where they left the valley and the sun came up. This was the first sign of Telltale's games striving for a cinematic presentation.
    • CSI: 3 Dimensions of Murder: The first person shooter case. It involves a sequel to a cult game called Fuzzy and Bill that is cancelled because the studio that made it wants to stick to milking the franchise that makes them millions. A clever play on the cancellation of Freelance Police at LucasArts which is the catalyst that led to the formation of Telltale Games in the first place. :)
    • Bone: The Great Cow Race: The line at the beginning of the game: "Sure the last one was fun, but it was too short." Telltale's first acknowledgement of fan complaints as a joke in their dialog. It also had Telltale's first boss fight at the end (albeit here in puzzles instead of QTEs).
    • Sam & Max Season One: The war song, definitely. Telltale knew that this was going to be a popular sequence, so they created an automatic save at this point so people could watch it again. :D
    • CSI: Hard Evidence: The Burning for You case. There weren't any clever cases as there were in 3 Dimensions of Murder, but the characters here stood out much more than those in the others, as the writing for them as well as the case surrounding them was quite good. Ed Freeborn in particular was quite memorable.
    • Sam & Max Season Two: The opening with the Maimtron 2000 wrecking the block, shaking up the status quo. Plus the Maimtron was funny to boot, speaking mostly in old pop culture lyrics. :P There was also a boxing battle with Jimmy Two Teeth the rat which was like punch-out which really was a QTE-event but without the prompts. I'd love it if Telltale's QTEs would go back to something more natural feeling like this. Also, the beginning of Banang! :D
    • Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People: The scene with Homsar in Strong Badia the Free, where Strong Bad learns his language and communicates with him, to the befuddlement of Strong Sad who just sees Strong Bad speaking nonsense. :P Homsar actually got some real character development here, and I really didn't expect that.
    • CSI: Deadly Intent: The Crime Scene Impersonator Case. It was quite interesting in that it was staged like to look like the murder pattern of a 1975 serial killer.
    • Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures: A tie between the final boss fight with Monty Muzzled and the final boss fight in The Last Resort. Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures really had the best boss puzzles out of all of Telltale's games in my opinion. The sliding puzzle at the end of The Bogeyman was fun too.
    • Tales of Monkey Island: Guybrush's fatal blow by LeChuck in The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood. I really didn't expect to cry in a Monkey Island game. This is the beginning of Telltale's games really pulling at your heartstrings.
    • CSI: Fatal Conspiracy: Agent Huntby and the cases being more connected. And the Flash Baked case in particular. Andrew Chaikin's performance in this case was so believable, and the writing was so good, that when he broke down in tears I actually teared up with him.
    • Nelson Tethers: Puzzle Agent: The sheriff flipping out on Nelson Tethers in the cabin, and then being subdued by puzzles. This cutscene was classic Grickle.
    • Poker Night at the Inventory: The Heavy's animosity towards Tycho because he wears a blue shirt (which made Heavy think he was part of the BLU team). All of the dialog between these two characters was really funny, along with the dialog between Strong Bad and Max (especially the blatant advertising of Telltale's website, and the way they delivered the lines). :)
    • Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse: The ending. It knocked me for a loop, as it was much more emotional than I ever expected Sam & Max to be. Telltale played with your emotions right through the credits, and then the after-credits scene was perfect.
    • Puzzle Agent 2: Nelson Tethers flipping out at the astronaut site (and the reference to the space wolf Grickle short in the achievements here). Spooky, creepy, and very Grickle.
    • Hector: The negotiation between the terrorist at the start of the first episode. Hector's lines here really crack me up (I want you to do something about pornography... Hold on, I think I have some in my car. ;)). The joke about Hector thinking Telltale's Bone game was pornographic was really funny as well.
    • Back to the Future: The Game: Chasing Edna from the 1930's to the 1880's and then back again. I really liked how the entire Hill Valley faded out, and then how the time duplicate DeLorean faded out once time caught up with itself. And of course the appearance of Michael J Fox in the finale was great as well (along with the fact that he actually got to play Marty again!)
    • Jurassic Park: The Game: Nima discovering Nedry's (Wayne Knight's character in the original Jurassic Park film) fate and then getting attacked by dinosaurs herself. I thought it linked the game with the film quite well.
    • Law & Order Legacies: Finding out how the 1990's and 2000's cases connected, and being able to put the cold case to rest (Lennie Briscoe was my favorite Law & Order character, so it was good to see what was portrayed as his final case get closure).
    • The Walking Dead: The finale. It hit hard, and was so emotional, elevated by the performances by Dave Fennoy and Melissa Hutchison. Sad as it was, it was a fitting end to Lee's story.
    • Poker Night 2: The Zyzobia story. This was the reworked synopsis of the cancelled Freelance Police (which as I stated earlier, was the reason that Telltale was formed). It was great that Telltale finally got to tell this story in some form. The story about the ancestry of Brock Samson and how it linked to Ash Williams was really funny as well. :)
    • The Walking Dead: 400 Days: Shel's story. The way that Roman wanted to handle stuff being stolen, after being pushed by the results of the last theft. I liked that Shel tried to keep her humanity through it all, but there was really no perfect way to get out of that situation which would be beneficial to Shel and Becca. It was people being stretched to their limits of their humanity, and the way they went about it (whatever the outcome) was believable.
    • The Wolf Among Us: The fight with Bloody Mary and the moment he becomes his large wolf self. In more subtle scenes, I really liked the scene between Bigby and Holly after she's anesthetized by Doctor Swineheart after her injuries. I like how she's debating about whether Bigby really cares, as up to that point the people seem dead set in their views that Bigby hasn't really changed his old ways. And of course the scene before that with a drugged up and drunk Grendel in the bar is hilarious. :D
    • The Walking Dead: Season Two: The final scene with Kenny, in any choice (but my favorite is the Wellington ending, since I feel that's the perfect buttoner on his story). I wasn't a fan of Kenny before this, and he was redeemed in my eyes here. Gavin Hammon's performance here was fantastic.
    • Tales from the Borderlands: The scene with Vasquez where he told Rhys about what he did to his old boss was creepy and set up the character of Vasquez excellently. I'm sure there will be other scenes that will stick out to me in later episodes, but that's the one that stands out to me the most so far.
    • Game of Thrones: The sudden death at the end of the first episode. I was quite shocked at this, and given who it was I was surprised it happened so early in the season. It was handled really well though.

TWD: Lee vs. the horde, end of S1, Sewing the arm and "still not bitten", " whose baby is it?", end of A House Divided & In Harm's Way, and the campfire scene in 205.

  • Yeah, Telltale really did a bang up job with the Crooked Man's trial scene by creating a villain with ambiguous motives that don't cross the line into a typical caricature of "evil." Ignoring emotional impact, I'd even argue that the Crooked Man's trial was better written than the confrontation with the Stranger that Lee had in Walking Dead Episode 105. The way that Telltale played into how some players created a ruthless Bigby was really seamless, and if anything, I was only disappointed that the focus was only on how you engaged with Crooked Man's employees and/or the Woodsman depending on player choices. I didn't tear off Grendel's arm and played a nicer Bigby in general, but after watching other playthroughs with different choices made, I'd have loved to have seen Bigby get called out on tearing Grendel's arm by the Crooked Man. I also think it would'be been cool if, despite the majority being won over no matter what, you could've potentially had some people stand by the Crooked Man at the end of the trial depending on your choices instead of just having everyone stand by Bigby and Snow.
