You call it enjoyable, I call it wanting to slap him half the time lol. I'm not a fan of characters who act like jerks for the hell,of it. I did enjoy learning his story, which I think we might get for every character who wasn't addressed in the game

Yeah, he DID swear a bit too much at times but that's what gave Gren that little dash of something rememorable and enjoyable. I'm hoping he'll pick up later down the road...looking forward to the bar scene when he's 'high'. XD

  • Did bigby fight gren yet?

  • Next part.

  • Bigby and Gren thought just like in the game with Bigby tearing Gren's arm off in the end.

  • So who started the fight? who did he arrest?

  • Gren started the fight with Bigby throwing the first punch, basically the same as the game. Bigby didn't arrest anyone yet as it ended at the moment Bigby tore off Gren's arm.

  • Gren's comments on Bigby actually started the fight.

  • Words do not start a fist fight, whoever threw the first punch is the one that does that...

  • A run down of what happens at the end of issue 10 and beginning of 20... Gren comments negatively to Bigby quite a lot till Bigby is completely pissed and punches him. Than it goes on to Bigby giving a threatening warning, and decides to leave Gren alone. Than Gren changes form and attacks Bigby.

  • Finally got around to reading it.

Yeah, the fight is pretty different.

    • First of all, no iconic wolf-claw clawing on the floowboards Bigby transformation. Bigby remains in human form mostly except for his forearms (whereas in the game, his face changes)

    • More in-depth looks at Grendel and Beowulf's legend - Bigby gets the idea to tear Grendel's arm off from Beowulf (since it's how Beowulf defeated him in the legend it seems). Which means it is most likely that in time, Gren's arm will regenerate.

It seems whereas in the game, ripping Gren's arm off can attribute to Bigby's Ruthlessness, here in the comics, it comes more as a strategy.

Still, in their pre-launch interview Sturges and Justus did state that when they asked Willingham how he played TWAU, Willingham said he played the most ruthless way as possible.

So I wouldn't put it past that Bigby may do some ruthless actions (such as killing Tweedle Dee/Dum in the alleyway outside Pudding and Pie, and killing the Crooked Man), it's actually possible.

  • But Willingham choosing all the violent options is kinda funny :P

I mean, he gets to attack characters from his work, that must be quite a feeling...

Then again, Gren's arm may grow back in the end :/

  • Yeah, well they did say in their interviews, no matter how tame Bigby may get, when provoked the Beast will always awaken within, so Willingham's way of playing kinda makes sense.

And Gren's arm growing back is more likely, beause how else would they explain him having his arm as normal at present time? Sure, he could have gotten help from a witch to reattach his arm, but his limbs regenerating sounds more plausible (like Piccolo from Dragon Ball....lol)

  • If Gren appears in TWAU Season 2 then having his arm regenerate would make choices run easier in the game. Instead of having one or both arms, Gren always has both arms but reminds Bigby that he ripped it off if you did in Season 1 :D

  • So was Gren putting up more of a fight in the comic and like his only weakness was his arm?

  • edited February 2015

Gren was itching for a fight and he got it.

  • Well, yeah. He sure was giving more beatings to Bigby than how it goes in the game

Damn, I miss the badass Bigby I play as in the game. While the comic does a good job exploring some details not covered in the game (such as Faith, Beowulf legends, and Bigby's monologue), I don't think they are quite doing justice to Bigby's badass image in the game (if I had to count it as a percentage, I would say Gren was hitting Bigby about 65% of the time, whereas Bigby was countering etc at about 35%, until he rips Gren's arm off. In the game, I think it was more equal at 50%, 50%, or somewhere very close to it).

  • Lying down in agony. and his blood dripping on the floor (from the arm Bigby ripped off). And Woody and Holly looking at the whole scene in shock.

That's what I imagined Gren as doing.

  • A better analysis would be mentioning the QTE's. The first didn't exist, the second Bigby missed, etc. In the game Bigby would get all QTEs, in the comics he gets ~80% of them, hence 60% Gren and 40% Bigby makes a bit more sense.

  • I am wondering, how many issues will there be to cover the entire game?

  • It looks to be a lot!

I'd say about 50 issues, 10 for each Episode; but atm, Ep.1 is taking longer than 10 issues to cover :P
