I dont think any game can deserve a ten because that would imply that the game is perfect and theres no such thing as a perfect game, they all hace flaws in one way or another and whether or not you enjoy the gameplay style is up to the player so nine is what I would consider a amazing score but generally anything over seven is a good score
Did you even read the reviews of the games you're referencing? I looked at IGN's Walking Dead and Fallout 3 reviews, and the main criticisms were about bugs, not genre issues. I really don't think it's unfair to demand that 10/10 games run close to flawlessly. You can't deny that TLOU and GTA V were technical masterpieces, while Fallout 3 and The Walking Dead had their fair share of issues.
ONE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED GAMES OF ALL TIME? Lmao, I hear people sing the praises of Fallout 3 all the time! (another game I need to get to).
Also, 9's are a great score. And although I've only played GTA V, straying away from it's roots isn't necessarily a bad thing. With 5 games, you'd think the series would need a breath of fresh air.
I haven't played too much of TLOU to judge fairly, but I do think it seems a bit overrated. It might just be because I really like everything but Ellie, who people don't shut up about. I was also a little annoyed that the remastered version was even a nominee for GOTY. That just doesn't seem fair.
And just a general rule of thumb- take IGN's reviews with a grain of salt.
When people tell me "this and that" are overrated, I expect they have at least played it first. If they haven't, they're opinion doesn't mean shit. For example, I can't stand it when people say The Last Of Us and GTA V are "da bes gams evar!!" and I ask them what they like about it and they say, they watch reviews and let's plays and say it's good because that's what everyone else says.
My point is you can't judge how good, bad or overhyped a game is unless you play first.

I agree with your distaste for IGN (their rating system seems... inconsistent at the very least), as for hating the gaming community for the… morem loving GTA V and TLOU? I for one think TLOU is underrated, even for its already extremely "in to it" followers. I loved everything about it, and I don't feel it can be praised enough. The same goes for TWD S1 and....... Firefly. I don't love GTA V nearly as much because I'm a story person myself, but the game is undoubtedly fun and I can see why it is liked by others so much. The story is dreadful in my opinion, but most people don't put GTA on the screen for a compelling story line.
I completely agree. People overrate games to no end, especially with games like TLOU and Skyrim. Both of those games deserve a 7/10 in my opinion. And the more people praise games the more it turns me away from playing them.
I've never played Fallout 3. Was there a free trial demo for it? I rely on trial's rather than game ratings to catch my attention for games that don't get the spotlight.
I feel ya. Played both and Fallout 3 IMO deserves way more praise. The reviewers just know that GTA is a easy sell and people pay way more a… morettention to it, as it appeals to more of a grand audience (it's clickbait). Fallout 3 is good, but the casual gamer will only look at it face value and see a game where you walk around and shoot ugly stuff. Also there's reading, people hate that shit. You gotta get really into it to find out how awesome it is. GTA is slightly different. It's I guess you could say more user friendly.
I disagree that it's the gamer's fault. Certain companies just have a higher status as others, but guess what? Those games are incredible.
TLOU and GTAV are some of the best games I've ever played, probably the best. That doesn't have to do with it being overhyped, at least that's not all there is to it. These games are almost perfect:
Great story, great graphics, great gameplay, decent length (especially GTAV), fun multiplayer (ok, this might be subjective, as many hate the TLOU multiplayer, but I love it).
What annoys me though is all the awards 'Left Behind' got. It was so undeserved. Adam Harrington or Melissa Hutchison deserved the award for 'Best Performance', and also didn't have the best story, by far not.
You do realize that 9/10 is about as good as it gets though, right? IGN is shit anyway, but TLOU deserves every 10/10 it got. 'Left Behind', though...not so much.
The problem with people now is they don't know how to enjoy something for themselves anymore. Everyone is a hipster, sharing a hive-like men… moretality. Look, no matter what anyone says, TLOU was good, damn good. GTA5 was far superior to 4 and to an extent, is the best GTA since arguably San Andreas. It's just the way it is.
Now, I love TLOU and I enjoyed GTA5. Because they were good, I also love a lot of sleeper hits. If anything is good, no matter how much you scream that "it's overrated" it doesn't change a damn thing. I'm just tired of this "I'm a true gamer, I don't like Call of Duty or GTA, I play other games." I liked Call of Duty 4, WAW was one of my personal favs, MW2 was great, and even BO had it's moments. I don't knock the series because MW3 and Ghosts were shit, I still play every now and again.
All this bitterness is getting really bad and sooner or later it's going to cause another video game decline. It's why so many develope… [view original content]
Arrgghh... Fallout 3 would so be awesome without bugs ruining gameplay. Crashing all the time, freezing, merchants disappear, characters dying in Megaton (accidents) and many many more issues. F*** bethesda. It's overrated.
Fallout 3 is not underrated in the slightest.
"9"s aren't some kind of middle finger to say these games weren't good. it may not be as good as a 10, but it doesn't mean the games are underrated just because it didn't get a 10.
TLOU deserved that imo I completed hundreds of games and that was one of the best games I ever played such a beautiful story with Ellie set in ZA with great gameplay and GTA is great to
I don't understand why people are attacking these games so much they were excellent with great stories and gameplay
Evolve, AC unity, Cod, titanfall, life is strange, the order, destiny etc so many terrible games getting hyped unfairly there the games you should criticize not the games who are actually half decent there are actual bad games getting good scores out there great games are rare nowadays credit where is credit is due
All the games you mentioned are much loved and got hyped so much till this day, I adore the darkness that's an unknown game which never gets mentioned all your games have massive fanbases so don't be butthurt over 9/10 or 10/10 it's about the quality of the game not the review score years later people will look back and play it for the game not the review no one cares
TLOU sold over 1 million, TWD S1 24 million review scores don't mean games aren't love or cared for the only opinion that matters is yours enjoy the games and let others to

I agree but on that point Ellie is a character that grows on you as you experience the journey with her at first glance without playing the game she may seem a stuck up bad mouthed brat but as you go through the journey with her you understand why she behaves like that she lost so many people and trusts no one everyone is the enemie and everything she loves always dies so she never gets close to anyone and is always angry.
But as you play through with Joel she learns to trust you becomes a happier person and makes so many funny puns, learns to whistle you also experience so much painful and horrific events together so you grow a strong bond.
I just think without playing the game it's impossible to understand a character like Ellie
Unlikable sometimes maybe but realistic if you understand her character

I have played, 4 chapters actually. I still don't really like her character, I much prefer a Clementine-type protagonist. I actually wished I could have played alongside his daughter in the beginning who I liked much more. I know that she has become this way due to the horrors she has seen, but it still doesn't make her any less annoying to play along side. Not all characters appeal to everyone. I think it's also because she's at an age where she's not a child but also not a real teenager. It's an age where kids normally are figuring out who they are.
Never played...but doesn't like Ellie

Woah Fallout 3 underrated? No way, that game is a fucking gem. It was pretty popular in 2008 and 09 and it's still popular today. Fallout 3 I'd give an A+, but New Vegas I'd give an A just because of how buggy it is. (and honestly it does look pretty ugly).
A 9/10 is in no way bad. I hate it when people get extremely butthurt just because a game didn't get a 10/10. A 9 is still an outstanding score! What does it take to get people to realize that? Remember, not everything is perfect in the eyes of certain people. People see things in a different light than others. That is what we call an opinion ladies and gents.
Let me just ask you this: Is it a 10/10 to YOU? Yea? Then there you go! Best option for you is to at least TRY not to get so pumped up over someone else's opinions.
I can not stand people who glorify and over rate games to no end
Hate to break it to ya, but that is going to keep happening no matter what. Nothing is going to change that. People like what they like, and if you can't handle it don't pay attention to it. Trust me, it can get really annoying, I know. You just have to deal with it.

Dishonored was developed by Bethesda I believe and Bethesda is well known for making action story elemented role playing games Dishonored is not one of these. It fell short in the mind of many gamers due to the lack of changeable dialogue, exploration etc. Not to say it isn't a good game. I enjoyed it but was stuck on FC3 and TWD in 2012. Most people don't want anything to do with Stealth unless its MGS or something
Dishonored was developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks so thats probably why it didn't have changeable dialogue, exploration, or that open world feeling like in Fallout or Elder Scrolls.

I totally agree with you as well. I don't normally like stealth games but enjoyed the hell out of Dishonored! I loved how there were so many options and different routes to take for each assassination. I thought it was so cool that could beat the whole game without killing anyone!
There was plenty to explore and many hidden things within each chapter, so I don't know what you mean. I loved the stealth in it. I have no interest in the MGS series, so I guess it just depends on the person.

Quite frankly, that's how I feel about TWD.
I love the game, don't get me wrong!
Nevertheless I still feel that it's been blown way out of proportion.
Some act like it's the greatest thing since the creation of fire, or like it's life and death.
And in reality, it's JUST a videogame!
And like any other videogame, the ONLY value it has is for entertainment purposes, and that's it.
And as regards the characters, though they are very well written, and add a lot to the story, they are still fictional.
And I have to say, it's almost disturbing how obsessed some have become about the game.
You must be joking, those games sold a ton copies and have millions of fans, they aren't underrated at all, if anything some people would argue they are overrated, I have no strong feelings about them though.
In any case both 9 and 10 are good scores so who cares?
I mean reviewing is a matter of opinion anyway, a review is just someone's opinion on the game, an objective review would be specifically about whether it works or not, it couldn't tell you if it feels off or if the story is bad unless it says the story is bad because it's inconsistent and filled with plot-holes, and in that case Bethesda(Fallout 3) and Obsidian(New Vegas) games do tend to be quite buggy and not work very well so they technically are inferior merely speaking from an objective point of view (Not hating I love Obsidian and most of their games are buggy as shit, I've never played a Bethesda game for more than 5 minutes though, nothing against them just not my style).
Anyway my point is if you disagree with their opinion that's fine but everyone is entitled to their own and if you find yourself disagreeing with specific reviewers points of view just look for ones that have similar tastes to your own since they'll likely be more helpful in recommending which games you should and should not play.
I have to disagree the Fallout games (New Vegas as well) are very underrated. My problem is that less deserving games got better scores while the games that did deserve them had to settle
Quite frankly, that's how I feel about TWD.

It has freezing issue. That's it's biggest problem and in a first person open world game a freeze now and then isn't serious
You're just saying that because he said a game that you like is overrated.

Now COD and Destiny I can understand but I gotta call bull shit on Life is Strange being overrated. It only got an 80 on Metacritic -_- pretty weak

People and their opinions am I right?
I think Dishonored is underrated. I don't hear people talk about it much but I had a shit ton of fun playing it a few years back.

The same thing could be said about TLOU except way more
TLOU is one of the greatest masterpieces of all time.
It's a good story, and a good story draws people in. I guess hipsters cant' understand,.
