In all honestly though, one moment that was fuckin… moreg powerful was Sam and Henry's death. They were easily my favorite non-playable characters in the entire game and it sucked they died the way they did. The voice acting was absolutely superb and you can actually hear Henry's voice crack and tear.

I'd even say this scene was on par easily with Lee's death scene from TWD season one.
I'm still a real big fan of the entire opening sequence. I've always been a sucker for the "outset of the apocalypse" scenes in movies and shows and games and what such, when no one knows what's happening yet, and the slow-burn realization that something has gone terribly wrong.
Although, to be completely honest, this game didn't really get that much of an emotional response out of me personally. Are there scenes that hit me hard? Of course. But there's a lot of other games that have personally torn me down more than TLoU did. However, I'm just going to chalk that up to me being really weird when it comes to what makes me emotional, because hey, you can't really consider that a flaw of the game itself. I still appreciate these scenes, as they're incredibly well-done regardless, even if they didn't get that much of a reaction out of me.
The winter chapter is undoubtedly my favorite of them all, but there's a lot of gold in the other chapters as well. The opening sequence, the farm-house scene, and escaping the hospital are other notable scenes
The gameplay is fun, but for me personally, I wouldn't consider it something to write home about. It's pretty much the average third-person action adventure game with stealth mechanics. Sure, it has some pretty great and for the most part responsive AI in comparison to a lot of other titles, but it still feels fairly run-of-the-mill at it's core. It serves its purpose, and it's entertaining, but that's about it.
I never played online, because my PS3 is stupid and refuses to connect to the internet, so I just sort of gave up trying after a while
But yeah, all in all it's a pretty great game. However, I do feel it's a bit overrated. And to clarify, I don't consider the term 'overrated' to be a bad thing by any means. I just feel that this game gets a bit more praise and buzz than it fully deserves at times. I mean it definitely deserves the praise for the most part, but sometimes it feels like its just getting overdone. It's kind of like if a bunch of people are giving a standing ovation, but they continue clapping and cheering for 20 minutes straight, and you're like "okay, I think that's enough, we get it"

Another arrogant user jumping to conclusions. Show me where exactly I said TLOU was the greatest game ever and that you're not allowed to dislike it? Go ahead... and here's a hint, it's not where I said TLOU was factually good.
This may hurt your head a bit so brace yourself. Some things are factual, especially when it comes to quality. TLOU had very tight responsive and easy to use controls. The story, although a bit predictable at times, still had damn good writing and superb voice acting. And was overall an experience crafted from the ground up to mix cinematic storytelling with fast paced action. Now, if you don't personally like it, fine. But I'm a bit smarter than accepting "it's overrated" as a negative to a game. It's a cheap shot, plain and simple.
And who are you to tell me to "get over myself" for making a little joke at the expense of people similar to yourself who use "overrated" to describe your flimsy distaste for a game that was, let's face it, very much worth a lot of the high accolades it's received.
You need to grow up, or at least get some better arguments than snidely mimicking the opposing party. That'll show me!

DUR TLOU IS THE GREATEST GAME EVA ANY1 WHO SAYS O… moreTHER WISE IS WRONG AND SHOULD FEEL BAD DUR DUR DUR-fanboy who thinks their opinion is fact
seriously get over yourself, people don't have to like it
You've used that word so much, it's stripped of all it's meaning at this point. It being overrated (which I think quite a lot of young slightly ignorant children use as a defense so they don't have to actually explain themselves) is all completely subjective. From where I stand, it seems like a lot of people love to rip on TLOU for no other reason than it sounds cool to do, just like COD or AC.
What didn't you like about it other than it being "overrated" and "predictable?" Bonus points for staying on track throughout your critique. GO.
Saying everybody likes it as reasoning that it's a good game is stupid. I could use that logic to say that Farmville or Candy Crush is the best game in history.
Alright then. Here. I won't be able to write some massive essay or anything as to why I didn't like it since I'm extremely tired and completely out of it right now.
Anyway. Here
Gameplay: The gameplay, at least in my opinion, was boring, the shooting felt weird, the walking/running felt sluggish and some of the gameplay was immersion breaking. For example. You are fighting bandits, or zombies. You're taking cover, THEN ELLIE GETS UP AND LITERALLY RUNS THROUGH THEIR LINE OF SIGHT. Completely breaks the immersion right there.
Story/Characters: This is the part where people will be like YOUR JUST TROLLING or something like that. People say the characters and the story are amazing, but honestly, I didn't care for the characters one bit. It's hard for me to care for Ellie when she swears like a sailor, people say this is realistic, but I've never met any girl that's sworn like that, even adults. I just could not bring myself to like Ellie at all, and it got to the point where when she was in danger, I was hoping that she would die. Joel isn't exactly easy to care about either, he's your stereotypical post-apocalyptic badass who don't take no shit from nobody. Now, onto the story, it would be better if the characters were actually good, but it wasn't. All the scenes that were supposed to be sad just mad me laugh because of how much I hated all the characters, and the story was so predictable that I knew what was going to happen an hour before it happened. And that ending, that was the most cliche and predictable ending I have ever seen. Would have been more shocking if Joel left her to die.
Now, you may think I'm trolling or just lying to sound "cool", but I'm not. This is genuinely how I felt while playing the game.

But to be completely honest, the story is great but not as perfect as anyone (if not everyone) says. One part of the story that just doesn't make any sense to me is when Ellie finds out Joel wants to give her to Tommy. She decides she's had it with Joel's shit so she runs away. Joel and Tommy follow the tracks left behind by Ellie's horse. Along the way, they're ambushed by bandits. How the fuck did Ellie get by them without being seen? Are the bandits actually retarded or is Ellie the master of stealth...on a Goddamn 800 pound horse?

Well I'm not trying to come across that way, the way I'm trying to come across is someone just sharing their opinion. And don't act like their isn't any TLOU fans who act like Gamers HAVE to like the game.

I like the game quite a bit, but I do feel like its a bit overrated. I think the game deserves most of the praise it gets but a lot of people never seem to shut up about it and treat it as god's work.
My favorite part of the game was ending it, giving the controller to my fiance to start the game and realizing there is a button to change your gun. I played the whole game. With one pistol. Fml.
I can't explain the first problem. How she got by them makes no sense.
As for the second?
why would she think running away is the best course of action?
When I was twelve I got in a fight with my dad. I was so angry that I stormed out of the house and started walking. Barefoot, in the rain, in the pitch dark, for about 6 or 7 miles. I ended up on my grandma's road (unintentionally) and snuck in and slept in their basement. I can't reason why I did that. Logic says that it was a completely stupid thing to do and in hindsight I would completely agree. It just goes to show that sometimes emotion trumps reason. Making sense and thinking in the long term are not staples of an emotional young person. And you're supposed to feel that way about the situation, you're supposed to think to yourself "What would have happened if something had gone wrong??? I could be dead, you could be dead, or even worse!!!" Which makes for a very cathartic moment.

It depends on who's on your team. If you have a team that can stick together than you're virtually unstoppable.
Story time: I remember a match I had was with a team full of levels 3-9. So they were fairly inexperienced. Anyway, we were getting our asses handed to us, it was like a 6-17 and we got pushed all the way back to our starting base area. Well, we started sticking very close and communicating properly and we started fucking their shit up. After that point, our team lost two more lives but got them down to zero because we maliciously picked them off one by one. It was such a rush and it reinforces the fact that TLOU has an incredibly robust online mode that favors teamwork over twitch reflects (something I'm terrible at).
Ohhh that's a huge problem that that mp has it sticks the shitty players with shitty players. You're lucky even you get a bunch of good player all together that way it's balanced. I'm not the best myself but I'm pretty good and I have my flashes of being a beast, man when you have and all out shoot out and then you Fucking somehow get out on top lol that is some of the best moments in that game. There has been a couple of times where I didn't even know I wasn't even down or how did I even make it out alive lolol.
But yeah if you have a bunch of dumbasses chances are you aren't going to do good.

I kind of hope Joel and Ellie aren't in it, they told there story and the got a happy(ish) ending. If they make a sequel there death is pret… morety likely.
I heard some rumour the second game is gonna be in europe or something, not sure if thats the case though. (Though I would be really happy if it was)
If Maisie Williams does play Elle, than who do you think should play Joel?
A great actor that I'd think would be perfect for the role, other than the ones I mentioned, is Viggo Mortensen.
Sony said so themselves and tweeted a hint on their casting of Maisie Williams as Ellie.
and was apparently announced at 2014's comic con that Neil Druckmann will be writing the plot for it
To be fair, the title says 'discussion', not 'fan' thread. People should be allowed to critique the game as long as they aren't obnoxious about it. And even then, fans often acknowledge that games they like have flaws. For example, I don't like the game, but I know it has its good points.
Also please note that I'm not referring to the whole "overrated" thing. I just feel this needed to be said.

I didn't say that wasn't happening. I just think it's kinda selfish to have the attitude that no one can dislike the game and want to post here for the sake of, as the title says, discussion.
But seriously, no, hardly anyone hates TLOU just because. They have their reasons (Gary-Oak mentioned his), and others should be willing to hear why instead of jumping down their throats. Blindly brushing someone off as a "hater" is just immature IMO.

I agree.
Liam Neeson would be a good choice.
He can do a southern accent fairly well, as the film Seraphim Falls demonstrates admirably.
Plus, not only is good in an on-screen fight, but he also a big guy, so his being able to fight like we saw Joel do in the game, would be believable.
If he were 20 years younger, then I think Harrison Ford would be the best choice for the role.
Star Wars, The Indiana Jones movies, The Fugitive, Air Force One, Clear And Present Danger, Firewall, etc.
His work speaks for itself.
Harrison Ford is probably the best action star of all time.
That's why I think he would have been perfect for the role, 20 years earlier.

I liked Joel better, i could relate to a guy who is emotionally devastated, a lot easier than a fourteen year old lesbian girl.
DO NOT PLAY GONE HOME. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
To be honest, from what i read, people are just hating, for no raisin.
It's the best game to wear a fedora with whilst simultaneously tipping it super hard.
Anyway, yeah, that's all I wanted to say. Bye.
Liam Neeson could pull it off I think.
What do you think?
Why do people get mad at me when I'm not saying anything. sorry if I made you mad.
i meant it for the obnoxious people that started talking right away. " another one?, it IS overrated!?" and shit like that. or that they hate it.
lol viggo is too obvious. The Road and TLOU?? that be too much. but he good too, not known too much and he is very good.
and no neeson is too much, plus he doesnt really look like joel much
"the game is boring and overrated" thats good reasoning?
