Wouldn't exactly say they're "assholes", but they are nightmares.

And I would definitely have to say they would be my current neighbors. To make a long story short, after Hurricane Sandy and some splitting in my family, my Mom's boyfriend landed a job at a strict Jewish community as a supervisor where we now live. This community is separated into two districts -- the more wealthy families and the slightly more lower classed. We fall in the lower class section and it is extremely dirty. We've found all sorts of items outside of our house from popped beach balls, broken glass, rusty nails, that sort of thing. There's also the fact that they stare at me and my family when we leave the house since we don't follow their usual custom, not that I blame them much, it's just extremely awkward to walk around outside. Like, ever.

My real complaint is all of the children in the neighborhood. They're annoying. And I don't mean the usual "runs around and screams their heads off" annoying, it's that they leave their toys all over the neighborhood -- anything from bikes to those tiny tyke cars we all used to ride around with when we were younger, etc. They're also out all hours of the night and day, often talking loudly or even screaming. Before I installed curtains in my room (like, the first week or so we lived here) they would peek through our windows, which is extremely awkward and uncomfortable. I admit, they are raised with the mentality of everyone being knit tight in their community, so I can't really judge them.

I just wish they'd be a bit more quiet every once and a while.

Speaking of quiet, we have further neighbors above and next to us. The one's above us are extremely friendly and generally kind people, but they have several kids who stomp around the house as early as four or five, which is hard on both me and my Mom's boyfriend who have odd schedules. They also always have a treadmill that feels like it's shaking the entire apartment and is more loud than the kids. The ones next to us are extremely bitter, complain and has even tried to get us kicked out about four times now.

So yep, they are a bit nightmare-ish, but not nearly as bad as some others have had it, I'd imagine.

I have plenty, though their mostly stories from my mom.

I don't really live on the best street, it's better now, but it used to have plenty of really bad problems. Starting off with a durg bust on a drug lab on my street, maybe 7 years. A sex offender living a few houses away. Someone (an adult) knocked a kid down in the street and brought them back into their house by the elbow one day. (Again this was a very long time ago.)

Then someone who could only be described as crazy. This person lives next door and always tried to get people to hate each other, even tricking someone into moving, blaming my dad for moving a fence over their property line overnight, and plenty of other stuff. Luckily I never had to deal with this person myself, I was quite younger when a lot of this happened.

Needless to say I live in a shity neighborhood. This is pretty much way I never socialized with people in my neighborhood. Luckily I've met a lot of people in a neighboring city that I've been friends with for about two years now.

  • There's this 7 year old girl who lives right next to me who is creepy AF. I've seen her drag her cat around the yard and walk around with a plastic shovel, humming like its a fucking horror movie.

  • I never had the misfortune to have nightmarish neighbours before.

The closest I've gotten to having bad neighbours was back when my family and I used to live in a semi-detached house. If you were to listen in real hard at around 9 PM, you could just make out the uncomfortable sounds of our neighbours' intense, fiery lovemaking going on next door. And I tell you, it usually dragged on for a long, long time.

  • Sounds like my old neighborhood. Sounds interesting. Sorry to hear that.

  • Ha ha i am that Neighbor. I had my neighbors call the cops on me, to the point they stopped coming out. It always was about me shooting off my fire arms, i shoot a few rounds off in my target range, and I'd have the Sheriff at my house checking my setup. The neighbor's have a late teenage daughter, that I said Hi being friendly once, and she told me "I'm not allowed to talk to you." I just laughed.. and said i understand "STRANGER DANGER."

  • so she is seven. She doesn't know any better. Instead of judging her, why not teach her.

  • Teach her what? It was a creepy looking scenario and she was a creepy child, it was just funny. I'm not "judging" her

  • Actual update on this story: I literally moved the day I wrote this. I now live with my aunt and uncle in Literally Nowhere, Massachusetts. I have yet to meet any of the neighbors, but I hear they're very friendly. Let's see how this goes. I'll keep you guys updated on anything strange that happens.
