What is your favorite game and why?

Mine has and always will be GTA 3. This game was my childhood it not only turned me into the gamer I am but changed my life as a whole. I remember playing it as a kid and loving every second of it. For 2001 it's now unique, funny and cartoony graphics were considered amazing. Everything was so open. The open world concept was still a relatively new thing GTA III multiplied whatever it was prior and made a name for not only crime drama games but open world games. It changed the landscape of gaming forever. The nostalgia, characters and wonder of this gem still appeal to me to this day despite the game having aged all it's certain charm and beauty is still present not a hair less than it was 14 years ago. I poured hours of my heart and soul into it and don't regret any of the time I've done doing it. I even bought a Claude Speed (GTA 3 Dude) figure that came with the special edition it looks good but doesn't look anything like him. Anyway GTA 3 will forever and always have a place in my heart.

  • Good decision, GTA III is a very good game.

My favourite game would be Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Because it had a huge place to explore, awesome spells to cast, amazing story, interesting characters... This game got me into the Elder Scrolls series which I admire a lot. Elder Scrolls series, especially this game has a huge effect on me. I still play them to date!

The Punisher, had a lot of great memories with this game. All of the levels, gunplay, and story were well-executed. See what I did there?

A strategy game that combines rpg elements very successfully. Not only are you fighting for land, but you also are waging war against individual characters. Assassination, seduction, war, biological warfare by marrying off courtiers that have syphilis, these are just some of your options.

  • It's stupid I know, but without this game, I probably would be a much different person.

This game introduced me to Metallica's music, and as a result, got me to listen to other great metal bands. Ever since this game was released, Metallica has become my favorite band (as if you could't tell by my name). It's amazing to think about the impact that not only music, but a game, can have on one's life.

  • A lot of people say that but I never found it to be as bad as some people have said. Just stick with it for a few hours and you'll get the hang of it.

    Reasons

    • Gameplay

    • Characters

  • Persona 4 Golden because it had one of if not the best stories I've ever played in a video game and the gameplay was so fun and easy to learn. It also had some of the best video game NPC's ever in my opinion and I loved the high school settings and the characters were all funny and unique. I also loved how the protagonist was such a pimp and all the girls wanted him lol. One of the few games I actually cried at when it ended because I enjoyed it that much, loved all the characters and I didn't want it to end. :(

I forget, was Nightwish in that one at all? I was never really into Nightwish with their last two singers, but their new singer, Floor Jansen, her voice just clicks for me. I'll post a good show of theirs with her, in case you're interested in checking them out. I honestly think they're better live.

Still considered by some to be BioWare's one last hurrah before EA absorbed them entirely and killed them...while I don't necessarily agree, it still is my favourite game of their's, rivaled only by Baldur's Gate 2.

Fallout 3. It was one of my first games on consoles and I loved every minute of it. But of course, it is not without it's flaws, but it still remains my favorite game of all time. Now, I'm also passionately in love with Fallout: New Vegas, but I could never get the same feeling I got while playing 3.

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. I admit, I haven't actually beaten this game due to a bug that caused one of the last missions to not load, but it is will my favorite PsP game and one of my favorite games out there. I need to find the time to replay it and finish it. I loved the stories, the characters, the gameplay, pretty much all of it I can think :D

Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. Yet another game published by Rockstar, but this one takes the cake in many ways. Firstly, I love the Max and Mona, they seemed amazing together and it made for a great relationship in the making. But of course, the first game was amazing, but the addition of Mona and her interactions with Max just blew me away.

Super honorable mentions: Fallout: New Vegas, Max Payne, Max Payne 3, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Grand Theft Auto IV, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil: Revelations, Red Dead Redemption, Kingdom Hearts II, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, Assassin's Creed Series.

  • Wind Waker was a huge part of my childhood. One of my all-time favorites as well.

    Favorite of all time:

    - Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

    Alt text

This is my childhood in a nutshell. This game and Fallout 3 are the two games I got extremely addicted to in the past, and it was time spent well. Grand Theft Auto takes the cake because it's sooooo goooood. Today, no other games compare to this wonderful fucking gem. If I made a full favorite list, Rockstar Games would just fill it up because they know how to make fun games. Rockstar Games is like the Martin Scorsese of the gaming industry. They're brutal, "realistic," and all around entertaining with interesting characters. Maybe not relatable, but interesting nonetheless.

    Grade: A+

    Other games:

    - Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number

    Alt text

My most anticipated game of 2015, and it has satisfied me fully. I loved the first Hotline Miami, but I love this one even more. It annoyed me at first with how difficult it was, but I gut used to it and found a way around it. I think that's how the game is meant to be played. I also felt like Hotline Miami 2 improved on a lot of aspects from the first Hotline Miami. It actually has an interesting story - Pulp Fiction style. The gameplay, while the same, felt more intense. And the best thing about this game, the soundtrack, is EVEN better than the first one. My favorites list on Ytube is literally filled with Hotline Miami 2 scores. Just search it up and you'll be mesmerized. :)

    Grade: A+

    - Red Dead Redemption

    Alt text

See, another Rockstar Game. :) I'm a big fan of the Western genre, so it's a no brainer that I'll like this game as well. In my honest opinon, I like RDR a lot more the other Grand Theft Auto games. GTA SA surpasses this one by just a bit more. The gameplay for a western game was fucking solid. Riding around on your horse is smooth, and shooting banditos in the face is satisfying. Not only is the gameplay great, but the story was very interesting as well. John is up to date my favorite video game character of all time because of how badass and relatable he is. I like those characters who were previously bad before, but they try to reform from their mistakes and set an example for others. I'm a real sucker for those characters. If I had to go to the past, I'd probably go back to Western times. Imagine being a living legend of the West? That would be fucking badass! If not there, then I'd definitely go back to the 1940's mafioso past - Mafia II style.

    Grade: A+

There are a lot more games I'd like to mention, but that would make too long of a comment.

  • Benny actually started to grow on me and I diffidently don't hate him anymore. Maybe it's because I always thought Chandler was funny on Friends or something.

Come to think of it...I killed him gladiator-style in an arena at the Legion camp.
