Did anyone else just not like 2014 :/

I rarely watch movies so didn't really look into movies for 2014, games though I felt were great in 2014. Smash for Wii U and 3DS were amazing, IMO TWAU and TWD S2 were amazing as well, the start of TT's new games TFTBL and GoT were fantastic, IIRC The Binding of Isaac Rebirth came out in 2014 and that game is fucking brilliant. Overall I think there were some disappointments with 2014 that people let cloud their view over it, but there were some super majorly awesome titles that came out.

  • i thought games in 2014 were better then in 2012.

  • I discovered Verdun and Crusader Kings II, so it was a good year for me.

Since the 80's? Man I know 2014 was bad but anyone who thinks it was the worst year in gaming, must be relatively new to gaming.

  • 2011- Skyrim

2012- TWD, Dishonored, Far Cry 3, Halo 4

    2013- GTA V, Bioshock Infinite

    2014- Fucking disappointments

We had momentum for 3 years then hit a road block of disappointment.

  • Loved TWD S2, TWAU, and I got my hands on Metal gear rising Revengeance. Plus I completed the Dark Souls series. Wolfenstein was pretty good along with South Park TSOT. I would say I enjoyed it from a gamers perspective, but didn't really see any movies. The 80s? Really?

So that makes the entire 90's, and 2000's not have a single shit year too?

2012 really only had The Walking Dead and Far Cry as the solid really groundbreaking games, (and I didnt even like Farcry). Some consider Dishonored too but I didnt like it and same with Halo.

2014 had way more games that I liked, Dark Souls, Dragon Age, Destiny, Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, Monument Valley, Wolfenstien oh and Season 2 of Walking Dead.

And yet you're saying 2014 is one of the worst years? The year that Super Smash Bros 4 (both versions), Bayonetta 2, Shovel Knight, Dragon Age Inquisition, Child of Light, TWAU, TWD S2, South Park the Stick of Truth, Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright, Borderlands The Pre Sequel, Oddworld New & Tasty, Mario Kart 8, Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor, Far Cry 4, Infamous Second Son and Dark Souls II came out?

I played all those games last year, and I liked all of them. Some more than others (mainly Bayonetta 2 and Shovel Knight) and yet you say 2014 was one of the worst years in gaming? I get that if you're one of the people who got disappointed thanks to the hype of some games like Destiny and Watch_Dogs but to call it a "Worst" year? Are you sure the word you're looking for is not "Disappointing"? 2014 will always be the year where Ubisoft ruined everything and there's remakes of almost half of the last-gen IPs. But not the worst gaming year since the 80's, that's ludicrous. It's not even the worst gaming year of the century.

As a matter of fact, the only 2 bad games I played last year were Lighting Returns FFXIII and Sonic Boom.

It was a horseshit year for games and movies (name me one triple A game released that year that could be called a classic).

Nothing much happened to make it very interesting.

We have The Witcher 3 this year and Mad Max for movies. 2015 is off to a much better start.

South Park: Stick of Truth is an AAA game that was released last year, and is likely to be regarded as a classic. It had a fun RPG combat system and did justice to the source material through the art style, story, voice acting, and music.

For movies, 2014 had X-Men: Days of Future Past, which successfully brought the original and newer X-Men film cast together in a film that had a great story line, great character development, and fantastic action scenes. It might just be my favorite film of the entire series.

  • Super Smash Bros 4 (both versions)

Not as good as the Melee and Brawl

     Bayonetta 2

I enjoyed Bayonetta but the second one was ehh

     Dragon Age Inquisition,

Good but not amazing. I think its pretty overrated and not a selling concept

    Child of Light

Had to be my favorite of 2014 still meh when conpared to the games the year before it

    South Park: Stick of Truth

Never playing another South Park game. I did watch the final boss fight with Chef on youtube and I have to say the controls in combat look awkward

    Borderlands: The Pre Sequel

The thing about Borderlands games are they get repetitive. I know several gamers that have just not played it. After playing it I can't say much has changed

    Far Cry 4

As a Far Cry fan I hoped this game would be better than the last and save 2014. It didn't its still cool and a fun play but I thought it was shorter.

    Watch Dogs

Ha! Remember when you people said it would rank up there with GTA V? Now I hear non stop bitching about how the game flopped

    TWAU

Loved it but it was way too short

    TWD S2

    A disappointment imo

Stick of Truth really is an awesome game. You shouldn't let your bad experience with the old Acclaim South Park games put you off on it, since the Acclaim games can't be compared to the ones made in conjunction with South Park Studios. That's the whole reason Matt and Trey wanted to do Stick of Truth, because they had absolutely no say in the old Acclaim games. Comedy Central just licensed out the South Park name, and Acclaim rushed the games out to market just to capitalize on the popularity, and it showed.

Now, since Matt and Trey have South Park Studios, which oversees everything with the South Park name, the licensed stuff is of much better quality. Stick of Truth was actually made in conjunction with Matt and Trey themselves, and they actually co-wrote it, so it's much better quality than the old stuff that was made without their input.

Shitty movies! What are you talking about? 2013 was a lackluster year for movies. Games on the other hand were pretty much disappointments from what I can tell. I still liked Watch Dogs though.

So you're telling me films like Whiplash, Gone Girl, and Nightcrawler were shitty? Seriously, you guys must not watch a lot of movies then.

2015 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for me, with the following:

    • Literature - Star Wars (the various comics, Lords of the Sith, & Aftermath), various Dredd-verse stories (Dark Justice, Enceladus, The Cop, & Whatever Happened to PJ Maybe?), and the end of Fables
    • Movies - Avengers: Age of Ultron, James Bond: Spectre, and Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
    • TV series - New shows such as Daredevil, Star Wars; Rebels, & Better Call Saul, returning shows such as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Doctor Who, Game of Thrones & House of Cards, and the ending of both Falling Skies, & Mad Men (I don't watch it, but like Breaking Bad, I'm interested in the storyline)
    • Video Gaming - Star Wars Battlefront. & Batman: Arkham Knight
  • Wow, so basically two things that aren't an adaptation or a sequel...

That's your fault for nitpicking everything. The problem was the gamers themselves don't like playing games anymore and expect every single game they play to be up to the quality of masterpieces. I noticed especially in this forum that gamers are more cynical and nitpicky more now than ever before. If a single one of these games came out 3 years ago even they would've been considered masterpieces. l even consider 2014 the year where gamers just enjoy bitching and hating everything for the hell of it.

"lf a game has one little thing I little thing holding it back/I don't like, it's a piece of shit." - Every gamer and critic in 2014.

Plus, I cringed when I saw you try and critique every game there. Especially the South Park one.

Plus what can you possibly prefer in Bayonetta 1 over 2? I don't even see it worth discussing how much better 2 was. Perfect example of a sequel that's better than the original in every single aspect.

Oh please! This is what someone does to keep an argument going. There are flaws to every game you're twisting words and saying I'm bashing every game. No, we had some good games in 2014 I won't deny it but every year did tbh. 2014 seemed like a drought and I love how no one addresses the dumbass, fickle gaming community for turning their backs on Watch Dogs when it came out, even though people were comparing it with big name games and wouldn't shut the fuck up about it. These fucks should be called out. It's this hypocrisy that makes gamers seem like idiots
