I don't want a voiced protag because it ruins immersion. When I create a character, I like to make them look like myself, if they make the protag voiced, it won't feel like I'm playing as myself anymore.
So, what do you guys think about getting a voiced protagonist this time around? I like it personally, it gives them more personality. But I … morehope there will be multiple male and female voice options similar to Saints Row's, so it can fit your character.
Here's a poll:

If you are not playing the other games you are loosing big time, you can catch fO3 and New Vegas on steam sales for like 4$ so there is no excuse to not to.
I started off with Fallout 3, which pretty much stands by itself, since the setting is completely different (DC). Fallout 2 is a direct sequel to the first one, so there are a lot of references, but not so many that you wouldn't be able to play it. Those two take place in California, and New Vegas is just next door in Nevada. Basically, the only thing you're really missing out on by playing New Vegas first is watching the NCR grow and a couple of easter eggs. And Harold, who wasn't in New Vegas, but he's really only interesting if you really want to delve into the details of the universe.
Personally, I prefer the new ones, but mostly because I love RPG-FPS.
This one is supposed to take place in Boston so I'm super excited. I guess it's an alternate history, so you technically can have building around the capitol house, but I'd be much happier if you had an open area for the Commons. Maybe giant mutant swans for an easter egg.
They could add a group approval system like in New Vegas, where wearing Yankees clothes makes all NPCs hostile. I just want to go to South Boston and have a bunch of mutants with baseball bats chasing me down saying 'I'll break ye head in, you friggin queah.' Alternate dialogue: 'Commeah you, you like apples?'
Maybe a quest to steal something from the Institute, and when warned you might have to hurt some people you can reply 'whose car are we taking?'
Well, I just hope that the character is still completely custom like in previous fallout games and Skyrim. Would be interesting to play as "a man from the past".
A little more information. If you right click on the countdown and click "View page source" you will be met by this page of code with some interesting stuff on it...
OMG, this is so awesome! I loved FO3, NW and most of the old games and this looks more of the same in a good way, you are again a vault dwel… moreler whos new to the surface world and all the old factions like Enclave and Brotherhood of Steel are back too. The only thing that bothered me was the voice of the protagonist, seemed a bit odd.
You do understand that in the Fallout universe like 90% of earths population got wiped out, so of course there are many places that seem very deserted even when the people do move back in to them. If you see the Vegas strip, then its much more populated. Of course some of this is due to technology not allowing too many NPC but I doubt we can expect anything like Assasins Creed cities and I don't ewven need to many characters if you can't interact with them.
The one thing I am most interested to see is in the populated areas will there be more people so it feels like civilization and not this.
It is like you are the only person left my one complaint about Fallout games.
If you are not playing the other games you are loosing big time, you can catch fO3 and New Vegas on steam sales for like 4$ so there is no excuse to not to.
Guys. I got the release date!
I pre-ordered it through GreenManGaming, they sent me an Order confirmation in my email. Inside the order confirmation, is the release date for the game
DECEMBER 31ST
the fact that most people in the comments sections of the trailer and articles are bitching about graphics instead of being excited for the game is disturbing
To be fair generic white dude has been the representation in trailers previously, its the same in mass effect.
I was just irritated at an… moreother dog in a game, I get it will be an optional companion but dogs are the new zombies in the terms of overuse. Never understood why dogs dont mutate either, and if they didnt how they havnt all died yet
I am mainly talking about in what would be called a town or a city in the game like the Underworld a city of ghouls but it takes more than 20 ghouls to make it feel like a city I would be all for the AC treatment in places that are supposed to have lots of people like Freeside. The Strip even with more people it seemed a pretty dead place for being the best place to be.
This is the cover art for the comic in the New Vegas collectors edition now that looks like a place I want to go not the Freeside in the game.

Good trailer, apart from the lame bit at the end. I was hoping we wouldn't be shown any protagonist so the trap of creating a default player character wouldn't be created (let alone a generic white dudebro), but oh well.
Since this a Fallout thread. Do you guys prefer Fallout 3 or New Vegas?
At first, it was Fallout 3 for me, but playing more and more of V… moreegas showed me how great it was. I remember actually hating it cause I got so used of being an overpowered god in Fallout 3.
What are your usual primary statistics when playing fallout. Mine are.
Strength: 3
Perception: 7
Endurance: 5
Charisma: 3
Int… moreelligence: 8
Agility: 7
Luck: 6
I mostly role as a sneaky medic. So I focus on intelligence and agility mostly, plus I love setting explosive traps. So perception is really good for me too.
I hope you can customize your own weapon deeply, add all kinda scrap and stuff you find in the wasteland and could higher up the weapon's damage level.
And also set up traps if you're going to go to a place like that shopping mall in the trailer full of nasty fast running bastards.
And kill the yelling black kid! I chased him for about 10 minutes with a baseball bat in fallout 3 but he just wouldn't die... by the way I'm not racist and I'm 15 yeats old so almost still child myself so do not judge.
I am so ready for this! Just restarted New Vegas cause I'm in the mood. (I liked F3 way better, but I've played NV less, so.) A couple of things I'd like to see.
Doggie companion (DONE!)
Better character editor. Really I think the character editor needs to be redone from scratch. New interface, better presets, more tweaking, etc. And can we finally get the option to tweak the ears? (I’m bout to buy Inquisition just for the character editor, tbh.) And while we’re on the subject, scars. Scars, scars, scars. And tattoos. Yes and yes.
More clothing/armor options. And the ability to mix and match clothing pieces. Maybe even some customization goin’ on here.
Make custom armor/weapons from scrap.
Prosthetics for your character. They can be upgraded and have to be maintained just like weapons/armor. If you break your prosthetic arm, for example, you won’t be able to use 2-handed weapons till you fix it. And no, that wouldn’t mess up the Pip-Boy. It can be worn on a prosthetic. Or better yet, integrated into it.
More control over the doggie, so he’s not constantly attacking when you don’t want him to. Like maybe the ability to call him back or whistle or something, without having to bring up the interaction menu.
Is it too much to ask for full male and female voice work for the player character? It went such a long way in Mass Effect. The dude speaking at the end of the trailer is a good sign.
Better NPC interactions/animations. Just better animations in general, really.
Bigger settlements to explore. (DONE! Or so it seems in the trailer.)
I know it’s a long shot but… vehicles. We did get a zeppelin or whatever in the trailer, but I’m thinking specifically motorcycles, or cars put together with scrap. Yes, that would introduce a driving mechanic, but it could work! They could fit it in somewhere. Sue me, I’ve got Mad Max on the brain.
And also, NO TIME TRAVEL. I’ve been seeing time travel theories flying around since the trailer debuted and all I can say about that is DO NOT WANT. I don’t think for one second they will, but just throwing in my vote with the NO crowd.
I've also been seeing rumors that, because of story restrictions, you can only play as a male character. Now I certainly don't believe Bethesda would do that, but if they did, I honestly might not play it. I don't have a problem playing as a dude in games, obviously or I'd rarely get to play anything, but for a franchise that has a long established trend of character customization and player freedom, to suddenly restrict character creation to male only? That would make me angry.
I was assuming that the vault's experiment was like a cryo freeze or something like that, not time travel. Though I guess you could kind of count that as time travel. Hell, we're all traveling through time already anyway EVERY game involves time travel.

I thought about a simulation, but dismissed the idea since it'd already been done once before. Maybe it'll be a back and forth scenario. Where you spend most of the game playing your character in the present time, but then occasionally the story flashes back in time and you play as a different character for those segments. Or maybe the footage of the past in the trailer has nothing to do with the actual game. Wouldn't be the first time.
Technically you can still use two-handed weapons with a crippled arm, your damage and accuracy with them just take a hit. In Fallout 3/New Vegas anyway. Personally I'd prefer if it did actually prevent you from using two-handed weapons completely. My point was you can't break, or cripple, your real arm just by using it regularly and not maintaining it. It's only crippled through sustaining a lot of damage. With prosthetics you'd have to maintain them like weapons, or they'd eventually break just from regular use.
If anything goes back pre-war, it might be a simulation like in Fallout 3 after Liam Neeson was taken.
As to prosthetics, you do know you can't use two handed items if you break a real arm either, right?
It is. It really is. The game looks fucking amazing and fun as hell, and The graphics look great, and they're like,
"AOOUGH FUGGIN GREPHECS"
It's dumb, and those guys suck. No offense Graphic specs complainers.
Two of the most interesting things I have noticed from the trailer so far is the part with the guy in the trench coat walking in front of The Memory Den and the power armor being worked on in the gas station. The guy in the trench coat's right hand looks like a terminator robotic hand it is hard to see but it looks thinner than his other hand. The power armor looks like BOS helmet and shoulders I don't know about chest and arms but the right leg armor looks like Enclave power armor to me. If you want a good look at the guys hand check out Mr Matty on Youtube he is annoying but he has some good info.

about time imo.
You missed the line when they say Vault tech
im sure they just used that voice for the trailer

I liked new vegas more due to the choices on who to side with i wanted to help the enclave in 3 TBH

TROY BAKER CONFIRMED FOR FALLOUT 4! TROY BAKER CONFIRMED FOR SEASON 3! TROY BAKER CONFIRMED FOR EVERYTHING!!!
I fucking LOVE Troy Baker.
Yeah but it'd like it to change :P

So you have no PC at home? How do you exist?
Fallout 3
When did you become moderator?
He actually became a mod early last month i think
Hope they updated that CC. The past 3 were disappointing...
Yep, sounds about right
Like I always say, A prepared person (Balanced character) is invincible.

Yeah, that's one way of describing it... Another would be, "fucking awful".
Not playing on PC isn't equivalent to having NO PC at all.
