There are at least 525,000,000 dogs in the world. There are roughly 30,000 lions left in the wilds of Africa. Now, I know the numbers are na… moreturally different because dogs are usually specifically bread to be pets, while lions obviously aren't, but do you not see the difference here?
Also, many people were freaking out about the dogs thing in China. Your argument is a twice null.
How can people prove that the dentist lured this animal out of the park. Maybe it went out on its own? Even still its just a animal that lived a grand majority of its life. Here is what i don't get. If people want to help this Lion, why don't people take this tragedy, and actually help animals, instead of jumping on a hate bandwagon against some dentist.
Imagine if Kimmel started a kickstarter for that lion. Raised Money for habitat whatever, What do i know though, i'm just some redneck asshole bully apparently.
The $50,000 was not for that particular lion. He had to illegally lure this lion out of protected land before he shot it (which was an ille… moregal act, regardless of the validity of his permit). This particular lion was friendly to humans, so there was absolutely no sport involved in the hunt.
The reason why we protect endangered species is because the consequences of the death of an entire species can have unforeseen repercussions on the ecosystem. We learned this when we killed all of a particular type of mosquito that were swarming around a body of water and unwittingly caused the death of everything around it that depended on them (including fish, frogs, plant life, other insects, etc). Human beings are just like any other living thing on this planet. We're dependent on the life of other living things. If we don't slow down the mass extinction that's going on right now, we could eventually be looking at extinction ourselves several generations from now.
I haven't done much research on the incident, but I'm not talking about holding him responsible lawfully (though through the grape vine I've… more heard that Zimbabwe is requesting the dentists extradition, in which case he would most definitely not have been in the right in accordance with Zimbabwe law). I'm talking about "villainizing" him, as you so nicely put it, because he deserves the criticism. Any hunter would do it? Thats incorrect. And any hunter who would is wrong. His life is ruined in Murica? So sad. If you can't handle the criticisms that come with doing what you do, then don't fucking do it.
It just boggles my mind that this is in the news, and i just read a story about how some five year old had to hand a blade to some Isis Terrorist, as he watched him decipitate his family. No one feels outraged about that...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA wow. I'd like to see them go ham over....oh lets see. AN ACTUAL ISSUE for once hmm??
Oh no no no no that's too much to… more ask!!!!! #Pray4Lions #LionLivesMatter. Lets all sing kumbaya and scratch the name Cecil on our arms with a knife in the name of lion kind.
When the numbers are that shifted, yes. If there were 3 members of a certain animal on the earth (that weren't particularly detrimental to humanity), and their numbers were devastated largely by human actions, I would prioritize their wellbeing over cattle.
I'm not sure how this is hypocritical. If I have contradicted myself please point it out with a link and/or quote. I will either apologize and fix my hypocritical stance or I will explain why it is not hypocritical.

Like there aren't wildlife foundations? Many people do invest in habitat protection and other such environmental endeavors. One also doesn't need to donate to something to have a say about it. I have say about many, many, many subjects going on in the world. If I invested time and money into each one I would be penniless and in a padded room.

People are donating huge amounts to the research facility that tracked Cecil the Lion since 1999. Since the illegal hunting of Cecil, Oxford’s Wildlife Conservation Unit received almost $470,000 in donations. The billionaire who funded the research of Cecil the Lion is also matching donations made up to $100,000. The target goal of Oxford’s Wildlife Conservation Unit is for half a million pounds, and I'm sure they'll get it, and then some, since nearly half a million dollars in a month is nothing to sneeze at.

I know I've done wrong things. Many, I would admit. I would even say I do wrong things on a daily basis. I know because I judge myself more than anyone else. If the internet wants to judge me, then by all means. I might even learn something.
You would think for this amount of outrage it would of generated more money than that... The US president commented on it for pete's sake, and they haven't even raised a million dollars? Don't you think its a little funny when a Billionaire will say, oh i will donate 100k, that is like ten cents to him.
They scented their truck and went into the national park at night, luring the animal out of the park to shoot it. This can be easily proven… more by the tracks inside of the park.

TBH people should be targeting people that deserve it like fucking Bill Cosby, Isis, or some other really bad person, not some dentist who made a mistake.

There's a difference, though. The meat we consume is from animals that are bred specifically for human consumption and are in no way endange… morered or at risk of extinction. Also, lions are usually not safe to eat anyway because they are carnivores and can spread bacteria. They are predators, unlike cows or chickens, and aren't meant to be killed for food.
Cecil was part of an endangered species. It was unacceptable that he was killed.
Edit: I should add that the man who killed Cecil had no intention of eating his remains, but used his body to prove his prowess and for decoration. Unlike a person who hunts animals for food, he shot and killed Cecil for fun.
I don't think they're being killed so mercifully. Not to mention that they're pretty much abused and enclosed in cubicles until the "mercifu… morel" death they did nothing to deserve.
most animals produce low quality meat if the animal is in terror (adrenaline i think), you can buy meat that specifically comes from farms where animals have certain quality of life standards.
Nearly $500,000 in just one month is extremely generous. Plus, it's likely that amount was before the money from the billionaire, Tom Kaplan, as he just made his statement yesterday. Which means that the total would be roughly a million dollars (assuming none of the individual donations are over $100,000).
Plus, now that Tom Kaplan made his statement to match all donations under $100,000 (which is what matching donations up to a certain amount means, as it's not a cap on the total, it's a cap for individual donations, so that he won't have to match a large donation by another billionaire), I'm sure there will be a lot more people donating from here on out.

SO GENEROUS.
That I can agree on. There's all these crazy famous people giving out his home address while I don't think one has put up a link to donate to endangered animals. He still deserves the hate in my opinion.
I'm just surprised that is all, i would thought this much outrage would cause more people to empty their pockets, give twenty to the homeless guy with no leg.
To me, a million dollars doesn't seem like a lot of money, but maybe the lions only need a million dollars, personally it doesn't seem like enough money to me, but what do i know about lions.

Although, I agree, it's something to be more enraged about, as it's happening way too frequently, but unlike the situation with Cecil the Lion public outrage won't do much as ISIS isn't open to discussions of extradition (unlike the situation with Zimbabwe and the US), and the people who forced the children to join ISIS aren't known (and even if they were, going in and getting them is nigh impossible at this point).

No you arent. A lot of people dont care about animals. It's cruel to kill someone or something like this. But animals are the prey of hunters. That's the way it is.
2. Racist?
The term I was looking for is "speciesism".
And even when the animals we eat are bred for human consumption, they're still in the animalia kingdom—alongside lions.
Tbh, lions can be eaten—pretty much all animals can be eaten.

This hasn't been confirmed yet, as there are conflicting reports. The head of the Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force stated that he was illegally killed by poachers, but an Oxford University researcher who is tracking Jericho, Cecil's brother, said that the GPS unit on the animal was on and moving earlier today, after the 4PM report of his death, suggesting that Jericho is still alive.
Hopefully it's the latter, as it's been stated that any hope of survival of the cubs is "probably gone" according to predatory animal experts, since male lions protect the females and cubs from threats and outsider male lions in coalitions, often between brothers.

Are you trying to say one life is worth more than another?
Kind of hypocritical imo.

Better hope your life is never judged by the internet.
Just sayin.
Who is anyone to judge anyone?
Rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader whatever it takes.
It just boggles my mind that this is in the news, and i just read a story about how some five year old had to hand a blade to some Isis Terrorist, as he watched him decipitate his family. No one feels outraged about that...

We are alive, therefore we judge. It's impossible not to. Quite literally.
Shouldn't all life be worth saving?

Its easy to say that, when your not being held under a microscope. Everyone does something wrong in their past.
Most all life, but who said it wasn't in the first place?
you know the old saying
actions speak louder than words, if people really wanted to make a difference they would go vegan.

Because you are acting like Animals don't kill other animals. They do all the time, and it isn't just to eat them.
Sauce
all i am saying is instead of investing all that hate, why not do some good instead?
I know I've done wrong things. Many, I would admit. I would even say I do wrong things on a daily basis. I know because I judge myself more than anyone else. If the internet wants to judge me, then by all means. I might even learn something.
You completely missed the target.

The distinction is made.
Eh, there's a shitload of those people on the Internet.
This whole Cecil the Lion thing is just like Shamu. Except funnier.
I do a bit of small game. I can make a mean rabbit stew.
Anyone else started thinking of
I AM DANIEL.

What could've made you think that?
Rabbit, Squirrel, I grew up on it all.

People are not ignoring that. There's plenty of news coverage and outrage in the comments of those news stories over ISIS forcing children to behead their own family (plus twitter is full of tweets, and Facebook is full of posts, about the horrors of forcing children to join ISIS and perform terrible acts).
You keep saying things like that aren't happening, but all of those things you listed are being targeted.
No you arent. A lot of people dont care about animals. It's cruel to kill someone or something like this. But animals are the prey of hunters. That's the way it is.
525,000,000 dogs around the world. 30,000 lions in the wilds of Africa. Yes, killing a lion is worse than killing a dog.
No duh lions and almost anything can be eaten, but they're not bred at mass for human consumption.
It's actually been going up tremendously since Jimmy Kimmel asked people to donate. They had 2600 people make over $155,000 in donations as of three days after Jimmy Kimmel's broadcast. It's sure to go up even more now that Tom Kaplan made his pledge to match donations.
I am literally Daniel.
I just read that Cecil's brother was killed by Poachers so now there's no Lion to protect the Cubs.
Funny?

I was upset to hear his 24 cubs are probably going to die too, Is there nothing they can do for them?
