As for the latest developments, I guess that in Fables, witchcraft if a dish best served naked! That was an interesting little ceremony. I found the reference to the old song 'Heart & Soul' by T'pau (which in turn is a Star Trek reference), to be amusing, although maybe a little forced.
Is it? Im not familiar with it. I dont watch Star Trek. But i enjoy catching references when I can. As for the ceremony, the kind of magic Abigail practices seems to require nudity, like she was doing in the forest. It was morbidly funny to see the Knave covering his torn privates with a towel. BM really did a number on him, not thst he didnt deserve it. That universe is so strange. The house looks like a museum now so is past and present blending toegther somehow in the Silvering?
I think the way they explain elements from the game and how they came to be is so creative. I never would have thought mirror baby was an ingredient in making the Crooked Man's moving door. I guess it worked? Their reactions seemed ambiguous to a gusher of blood coming out of the tiny body.
Everything ties together so interestingly. And it was great to see Tiny Tim who manages to look even more sweet and innocent here. That comment about not getting to the front of the business office must have hurt. Bigby kicking down doors is always funny to me.
Another thing I liked, a small thing but cute, is how Snow always looks amused at Bigby trying to rhyme for the magic mirror. I thought the art looked very good this episode. I liked the coloring in particular.
In this issue showing the mirror bleed was actually something different.
And I liked the scene where Bigby tried to rhyme (with Snow tryi… moreng to hide her laugh), it was funny.
Regarding the flashbacks, it was just alright.
Finally, in next issue, they're moving on to Episode 5. Can't wait to see Bigby's Big Bad Wolf transformation after couple of issues.
No offense, but perhaps I'm one of those people who don't just praise everything (gets satisfied easily) unless it is justified?
It's not like I'm saying I hate the series. Actually, I enjoy it quite a bit for what it is (especially with them trying to expand the mythology).
But while I do enjoy the TWAU series (and there are quite a lot of good things about it), I must admit there are quite a bit of issues/problems with the series as well (that not many would care to admit).

Oh, I see. You were talking about that scene. Well that scene was alright (baby exploding part, it was a bit surprising, though not as jaw-dropping or shocking as when Mary actually shattered the baby in the first place). Though if it was me, I would have probably done the following things:
Cut out the whole children visiting the Corwin House with their teachers bit. That bit was unnecessary, and was just wasting panels where it could have been used to further develop other characters (whether Bigby's storyline in present day, or flesh out more from flashback characters, like the Crooked Man, etc).
It would have been better if they explained why they all had to be present naked when the ritual was taking place. Did they simply not want to get their clothes dirty (as when baby exploded, blood was splattered on them), or was it a requirement of the ritual itself for them to be undressed? We all know the all Fables comics are for mature/adult readers (and I have no problem with nudity in comics as long as it's justified), but that part, I felt it was like gratuitous nudity (Mary being nude on her wedding night, I had no problem at all, since she thought she was in love), just to have that teacher + kids encounter them at that spot (since there was no explanation as to why they were all in nude).

In the 80's (at least I think it was the 80's), a music group named T'pau (this was an intentional reference to the Vulcan high priestess) released a song named "Heart and Soul". The song did reasonably well, but as far as I recall, they were a one hit wonder.

While I would have liked to see Bigby figuring out it was Georgie like in the games, I guess that would have taken a lot of space (which isn't much since this is a comic), so its understandable. And I liked how Crooked Man was saying sophisticated phrases/references that his associates nor Bigby understood, it added more to his character.
With the flashback, it seems they're moving to Aunty Greenleaf (and how she was recruited by Crooked man), can't wait to see what happens next.

Well, if you've read my Fables Volume 22 review thread, you'd know exactly how critical I can be (but that review is pretty balanced as well).
