Yes, it's the outcome the devs wanted to have. How is that different from any other medium? Be it books or shows, it's the same everywhere. It's take it or leave it.

There just happens to be no choice for Rhys to stay out of a relationship, just as there is no choice for readers of a book to say the MC isn't going to fall in love with someone if the character was written that way. Just because this is a game, doesn't mean there HAS to be a choice. No one ever advertised this as a dating sim in which you can decide which girl to go after. You are playing Rhys, but you can't redefine him. His core characteristics are hard-coded into him with you merely deciding how he reacts to something. You can make him be an asshole to Sasha, or be the nicest guy on earth but you can't make him not be attracted to her, since that's what his character is. There is no option for romancing Fiona, or Vaughn, or Jack, or Vallory, or whatever, because Rhys as a character wouldn't feel attracted to them. You are controling him, but he is still written by someone else and will still be the character he was written to be.

People will have to get rid of the misconception that they are the characters. "My Rhys is this"/ "My Rhys is that". Bullshit. Your Rhys is the same as my Rhys. You merely made him say something different than I did. That won't make him a different character.

Rhys was written to be attracted to Sasha. Sasha was written to be attracted to Rhys. It may be true that the writers handled the choices thing sort of poorly, but that's, admittedly, pretty hard to pull off correctly. The problem, thus, lies in the poor compatibility of the writers to the medium...than the characters and story itself.

You're nice = Sasha likes you. You're an asshole = Sasha likes you. You're silent = Sasha likes you. That's why I think it's forced, whatever you do, you still get the same outcome.

  • Books, movies and tv shows are different. In a game when choices (should) matter and "the story is tailored by how you play" I (me, myself) find it forced. And I disagree with the "my Rhys is the same as your Rhys" thing, it's always the same character but the personality changes: maybe your Rhys is ambitious, he trusts Handsome Jack more than his friends and wants to rule Hyperion, mine doesn't, or viceversa. When I play a Telltale game I don't expect to play my own personal story but at least I hope that the story I'm playing is coherent with the "path" that I've chosen.

Wow... So If you're Rhyiona fan, you're fucking clueless... I never expected someone like Erin to say something like that. Seriously, was that comment really necessary? I like Erin, but now I am really dissaponted.

  • I have to admit... The jungle scene was kinda forced ):

"one of those Rhyiona shippers". I actually was neutral on the pairings at the start. I liked both a lot. Sasha really was the first to brin

What the hell? First it was Job, now Erin? Bad joke at best, rude af at worst.

I ship Rhack (and supposedly should feel sorry for this)? Cool. What else do I ship or do wrong, please enlighten me.

  • When you interpret someone else's words as malicious without taking into account their tone and the bigger context of the interview, then that's on you. Don't hate on Erin just because text on a screen offends you. We, and only we, ascribe meaning to words. Period.

  • You're not really choosing a path as much as you are just shaping chunks of Rhy's personality. If you were choosing a path Rhys wouldn't still act like a nervous dork and goofball during the sections with Fiona no matter what kind of character you made Rhys. This is the same thing with Lee in the TWD S1, as you can make Lee a complete scumbag but he still has that bonding relationship with Clementine and Clem will still have feelings for him and care about him no matter how much of a dick you were to anyone.

  • Actually at the end of TWD some lines change according to Lee's relationship with Clementine. I know it's not much but it's something.

[And I think they bring out the best in each other (and if you aren’t seeing that in your playthrough then you’re probably one of those Rhyiona shippers)]

Nearly everybody in this thread right now:

And I didn't know Erin did some recording with Troy and Laura, coolie. Often from what I know voice actors record their lines alone.

  • I hope she doesn't go on this part of the forums......

Look likes i underestimated that line from this interview. People are literally taking an obvious joke way to seriously. You can be annoyed or upset at it but to outright hate Erin over it?

    Grow up.

  • I only saw like one person in the thread say they hated her over it. I think the best thing to do would just be to let the thread die out, obviously people took something way too far and it doesn't look like it's going to calm anytime soon.

  • Do we know if she's in anything besides TT stuff, currently? she's got some stuff in the works, so that's exciting, looking forward to seeing what those are.

  • She mentions come upcoming (non-Telltale) video game projects at the very end of the interview - Firewatch in particular looks really interesting/cool. I also know she does a lot of theatre work. I'm excited to see what she does next too.

Thanks to everyone who checked out the interview - I think that one particular line from the interview was obviously meant to be delivered with tongue-firmly-in-cheek. It also shows that she checks out what the fan reaction is to the game which I think is really nice! I honestly had no idea that people were so passionate about Rhys's love life... :)

Aw, you're the real Tales cinnamon roll - too good for this forum... too pure...

  • I was checking that out and it really does look pretty interesting.

Don't even worry mate, i thought it was kinda obvious.

Lol, it's pretty much one of the only topics if conversation that survives the dry spell between episodes.

  • so, having a sexy pic means I am watching porn 24/7. Okay, mate. If you say so. Not that I would see why that would be a bad thing....I mean, if you can keep going for that long...all the better. Especially if it's animated porn.

And, you see, if you are going to refer to someone's picture, paying attention to it kinda becomes a big deal. Just so you know.
