    I am in complete agreement.

The US is just like any nation on earth. It was just lucky enough to recieve the better end of Darwins stick.

One thing I find rather unsettling is how the US is very worried about the prospect of Iran obtaining nuclear weaponry, yet they seem to gloss over the fact the only time nuclear weapons have been used was by the US, twice and against civillian targets.

It may have been the lesser of two evils (I assume you refer to the Holocaust), but that should not detract from that it is so rarely seen for what it was: unnecessary. Japan was already on their way to surrendering after Operation Meetinghouse and, I reiterate, the targets of the atomic bombs were civilian.

Nah, that's just because I suspected what TheCatWolf suspected and until that point I had held myself from saying anything, for fear that I was reading too much into what Kenny/Lee said.

For the most part, I'm extremely ambivalent about thIs whole "gender war" thing. There are much more important wars we should be occupying ourselves with.

I never said that it should be socially acceptable for women to hit men. In my previous post, I straight up said that men shouldn't have to put up with it. With that said, the example I gave involving the ten year old kid shows why justifying punching a girl as a simple matter of "equality" is a little ridiculous when actually looking at the context of the situation. There are other ways to deal with the problem.

Well it certainly isn't equality for it to be socially acceptable for women to hit men, but not be socially acceptable for men to hit women.

Yeah, in my experience, the police tend to be a reflection of the communities they serve.

When I lived in a tight knit, rural community, the police were generally very professional and trustworthy. They handled serious situations like murders and meth raids without issue and were very calm and cordial, even when you wound up on the wrong side of the law.

Now I live in a rather 'colorful' Florida beach community and the police here seem like brutes by comparison. Brutality complaints and doggycides are above average. They speed 100+ mph without sirens or lights, but paradoxically, response times are very slow. Last year, I had to keep a drugged out home-invader at gunpoint with my .22 for almost half an hour while we waited for his ride. God only knows what might have happened if he was on PCP instead of smack. At the same time, I've had a couple dealings (nothing bad) with the county sheriff's dept. and they were just fine.

In Camden, near where my sister lived, the whole local government is corrupt. The corruption and ineffectiveness rubbed off on the police to the extend that Camden PD was disbanded and the county police had to take over.

Maybe the police force in your area is just far more efficient than the police forces in mine. In my area during a major robbery no police a

The discrepancy in physical ability matters. If we're comparing an average guy to an average girl, the girl is obviously going to take the worse of a scenario where punches are traded. A girl punching a guy is not equatable to a guy punching a girl, so it's really not a matter of her getting what she gave.. considering how the consequences are not the same at all. That isn't to say they should get away with violence, but meeting that violence with more violence is generally completely unnecessary, unless we're talking about an all out attack where it is necessary to defend yourself. Again, there are more suitable responses to the situation. I mean really, what's the justification for returning a punch in this situation? Payback purposes, while completely disregarding the large natural difference in strength? You wouldn't deck a ten year old kid if they punched you, right..? I would hope not. If the girl is no threat to you, then punching her just for payback is not really justifiable, for reasons I have already mentioned.

^ (And just to clarify, I'm not comparing strength levels between 10 year old kids and women, I was simply giving a more obvious example to show that looking at this situation in black and white is a little ridiculous)

Yes, but just because someone is physically weaker, doesn't mean they should't get what they give.

  • I to believe that racism against white people in America is indeed a very real issue. if you look at the way things are right now, and no I'm not saying that I am a racist against black people, but now there are things like "Black Comedy", "Black News Stations", "Black Churches", and alike.

You ask me, it almost feels that the leaders of the black movement want to bring back racial segregation and degradation but this time with White people on the receiving end.
To be clear, I AM NOT A RACIST!
But it does seem peculiar that since black people often discuss racial equality, and yet they have organizations and alike that favor their own race.
Racial equality is a two-way street!

Plus, what about the Black on White crime rates?
Every time you here about a Black man getting killed on the news, it's usually a case that involves a White guy.
But what about the White Men that have been preyed on by Black guys, why isn't that never reported?

Or how about the Black on Black crime rate?
In fact, Black on Black crime is higher than White on Black crime, or Black on White crime combined.
Yet why are neither one of these two things not covered by the news?

I believe because it flies in the face of Liberal ideology!

I just feel like a lot of people in this generation, teenagers especially, see LGBQT people and tolerance for them as a club that they can join because it will make them feel like they are just so accepting of others. There are some people who take that title simply because its the "in" thing to do now.

  • Even as someone who wholeheartedly supports the LGBT community, I have to somewhat agree. I had someone tell me they supported it and when I asked if they knew what it standed for they said "gay people and stuff".

I think feminism should adopt a more gender-neutral name. The movement now deals with issues concerning both women and men. I understand that women still have it harder, but a social movement should have a name that accurately represents all major groups involved. Both men and women are both dealt with in feminism. When gay rights activism adopted other groups into its movement (lesbians, transgenders, bisexuals etc) it changed its name to LGBT. Then LGBTQ as it adopted queers. Now people are talking about LGBTQIA since intersex and asexuals are a part of the movement. So yes, movements do change their names to better accommodate the groups involved. I think feminism should do the same.

Nuclear power isn't something people should be afraid of. Per kilowatt of energy, it kills less people than any other power source. It is also a good base load power. France managed to decarbonise its electricity production in 10 years by building a host of reactors. Yes, there are disasters. But the disasters get blown way out of proportion. Fukushima radiation killed nobody. The tsunami and forced evacuations killed thousands. Both Fukishima and Chernobyl are also old designs. Modern reactors being built are far safer. If Chernobyl and Fukushima were modern reactors, those disasters wouldn't have happened. Newer designs in development right now are able to shut themselves down in an emergency. No operator needs to be present.

I like guns even though I've never fired one. I've liked them ever since I first played Counter Strike many years ago. I believe most people who have guns are just normal people, not crazy, damaged, or unusual in any way. Range shooting is just another pastime, like jetskiing or archery.

There, I've said it. Now flame me!
