Got home late and finally read the issue. Uggh, still not fond of McManus's art in TWAU comics. His characters still look way out of proportion.
Is it just me, or was it really weird seeing Bigby really blow his top at Crooked Man? I mean sure he was pissed, but it looked as if he was about to strangle him (if it wasn't for Snow who pulled him back).
There were some nice moments here, especially Bigby's monologues, where he thinks the following:
'I can't let Snow get dragged down by a piece of Shit like the Crooked Man.'
' No matter what I do someone's going to end up hating me. But better me than Snow.'
Beast going crazy to kill the Crooked Man, and Bluebeard suggesting to spare the Crooked Man was different, and a little surprising.
Regarding the flashback, not much happened yet, but I have a feeling more will be revealed in the next issue.
As we all thought the comic did reveal who we saw at the end. And from all the clues given before the revealing it is clear even before than. In the game it was Bigby's head that told him who Nerissa actually was. It is really sad that all there is left is playing the game and waiting for TWAU Season 2.
Well, we finally got our answer. Unfortunately it was in the comic and not in season 2, but still, it's nice to have some closure.
I'm really impressed with how the comic ended up tying everything together. The two stories seemed so disjointed and I was beginning to think we'd be left with more questions than answers, but knowing that everything was leading to that final line is just phenomenal - it was very cleverly done.
I tell you what, that ending only made me want more. It felt like a cliffhanger. People says they cant go anywhere else with TWAU and I say they can go anywhere with it. The sky is the limit.
I did really like how we got the alternating povs of Bigby and Crooky. Imagine Bigby chasing him through the Silvering. That would be amazing, and with Mr. Adam Harrington's wonderful voice work again. Make it happen Telltale.
My first reaction was "is it really the end" because it is such a cliffhanger, even though we know now who Nerissa actually was which was way too easy to guess.

Nerissa's identity could probably still be argued either way. In any case, I don't think we'll see an "official" continuation of this storyline. I doubt Telltale would do it, as the comic's ending diverged too significantly from the game's. I doubt Vertigo would do it, as I suspect that the comic had a limited audience.
In any case, I'm happy that I purchased the comic. It provided additional perspective on the characters and their backstories. The ending was great too. I loved that the Crooked Man came off as a smarter, more formidable opponent.
I know that some readers didn't care for the different art styles. For me, it was fun to see multiple depictions of the characters. One of the choices that was criticized was the "funhouse mirror" Bloody Mary's that Shawn McManus added in issue 44. I'm not sure if that was McManus's idea or not, but I thought it was a clever way to make the comic more visually interesting. At the end of the day, though, I'll confess that I liked Travis Moore's work the best, as he chose a style which was very similar to that of the game (and I'm a big fan of the game).
If Telltale makes a Season 2 (come on, Telltale; I'm ready to pre-purchase!!!!) I suspect that it will not pick up where Season 1 left off. Instead, it will probably be a new story, featuring different secondary characters (although I would not be surprised to see some favorites from Season 1 return). I hope that Bigby (voiced by Adam Harrington) is still the main character. I don't think it could rightfully be called "The Wolf Among Us" if he wasn't.

I got my issue yesterday, but couldn't read it because of work.
Finally, having read it, I have to say, they do a nice job of linking the flashbacks and the present scenes.
I wonder how the Crooked Man knew about Bigby's unrequiited love for Snow? Hmmmmm......that being said, that scene where Bigby helps Snow with the documents was pretty nice
Though I would have wished the Crooked Man got what he deserved. This issue actually made it feel like he was the one who won at the end (like he says in his cell, and a bad end for Faith too).
Also, I have to wonder, since they have Crooked Man survive intact (instead of having him turn into bird, or him being thrown into the witching well / killed by Bigby), if Telltale decides to do Season 2 (And have it based on aftermath of Season 1 finale), how would they do it? Because in this case, TWAU comic would completely contradict the choices made by the player,so......
Yeah, but the whole premise of TWAU comic was it being "based on the TT series game."
So while TT game can go on, I don't know how the comics will go on if they still want it to be based on the games (they probably would need to abandon the whole "based on" approach, and create their own original stories since the endings contradict the game so much).
p.s. I'm still kinda sad to find out what happened to Faith. After Snow, and Cindy, she's been my favourite Fables character, and to find out she is now doomed......well

If Telltale does make a second season that continues from the comics, it wouldn't be that hard to reconcile. If you spared The Crooked Man, they could have Auntie Greenleaf betray Bigby and co. by double crossing them and turning The Crooked Man back to a human, which would allow Faith's abduction by The Crooked Man to play out pretty much like it did in the comic.
If you chose to kill the Crooked Man, they could have someone like Tweedle Dee abduct Faith instead.
Or they could just move on to something completely unrelated to the first season, which is probably what they will do, considering that all of the loose ends of the game are now tied.

Sorry, this is long. I haven't posted before and I wanted to get all of my points out.
So I've read all of the comics, and I enjoyed the majority. Some of the art, like people have said, was bad. I disliked how they chose that one artist who made Bigby look overly buff with a small head and the more 'cartoony' figures more and more towards the end. But for the most part, I liked the art. Bigby's monologue and inner thoughts was well done; Colin was more hilarious than usual and a lot of the comic was great.
I was happy about the backstories, but after Grendel's and the Woodsman's (I disliked how they hinted he was going to do worse to Red Riding Hood and wasn't just a drunk robber, though, but Grendel's was very good) they went to Mary's. Now, I was intrigued by the whole 'Glass Baby' storyline and I was hoping to see where it led. Instead the story was drawn out; no other characters got the spotlight when Mary got in.
No Crooked Man backstory; he only came in on Mary's story. Nothing for Georgie and Vivian - her death scene was well done, beautiful art and very heavy angles, but her introduction scene was cut out and we barely paid attention to her until that last scene. It mentioned in the Book of Fables that she'd had a husband whom she couldn't explain her curse to, and that she met Georgie and they helped each other survive - didn't that deserve at least one flashback scene? And the Crooked Man's family wasn't addressed, one of the cover arts showed a man resembling him on a one of those wheels - why didn't the main villain get a little bit of backstory?
I did enjoy Mary's backstory and the inclusion of the Knave, but it led nowhere. The Glass Baby was born in 1900s, then suddenly he appears with the Crooked Man in 1986. I didn't get that time jump. We have no idea what became of the Knave.
Then there's Jersey - he got no backstory either, which felt like a bit of a cheat when he had his own cover-art. And he was killed off when in the game, he's left ambiguous. I was really annoyed that he was killed off, Jersey and Gren were my favorite characters, and if there's a second season, he won't appear as the comic is 'canon'.
I doubt there will be a second season, and if there is, it must be like Jennifer said above - it'll be unrelated plot, at least mostly, since the comic has gone away from the games so much. Which means the ending is this: Faith/Narissa apparently is dragged back to marry her Dad's skeleton while the Crooked Man builds a criminal Empire with the Silvering's Donkey, the end. Dunno what happened to the Tweedles, to Knave, to the Glass Baby, ect.
I guess I kinda understand their way of ending it - ambiguous, 'what's gonna happen' and leaving their options open, but if they decide not to continue the series (which seems the case with the limited about of readers) then there's no answer.
It happens sometimes. Like how the question about how SHIELD was able to help in Avengers: Age of Ultron wasn't answered in the film but was answered in the Agents of SHIELD show.
If Telltale does want to make a second season that doesn't relate to the first season much, but does want to address it without making people read the comic they could always have something that had Snow and Bigby discuss glamours and Bigby could make a casual statement that "Faith was glamoured as Nerissa". That would be easy to do, and would solve any lingering issues without delving too much into it.
Telltale did the same in Back to the Future: The Game through conversation between Marty and Doc when it was explained where the DeLorean came from. Sometimes a simple line of dialog is all you need.
But not everyone who played the game will have read the comic...
They may not appreciate having a story answered for them by a comic instead of a second Season
I think the comics prove that with a little imagination they can take the series anywhere. They created so much more story and still havent addressed most of the characters we met in the game. There is so much they can do, I refuse to believe there won't be another season. It would be a terrible waste of a rich property.
If Telltale does make a second season that continues from the comics, it wouldn't be that hard to reconcile. I haven't finished the comic yet, but I still say that the game should be about the game, and the comic should be about the comic.
How many Telltale fans would appreciate having all the answers given in a media form they probably didn't know about? I don't think TWAU comic was that popular, especially compared to the Fables comics.
All I'm saying is that both forms of media should be addressed. Actually, if we're gonna talk about 'It should follow the comic' then why doesn't TellTale just give everything up to the comic and not bother at all with a Season 2?
I'm not sure if a lot of the comic will be canon to the game, but the Faith being Nerissa storyline likely is supposed to be how it ends in the game though, considering that Telltale had an ad at the end of the game that you could continue the story by reading the comics.
Considering that Bigby already knew the answer and just decides whether or not to chase Nerissa at the end of the game, it wouldn't be too much of a problem if Telltale did only just have Bigby make a casual comment to Snow about Faith being glamoured if they actually do ever make a season two (or it would be OK too if they didn't answer that at all if it's a completely different storyline, as Telltale does tell you to read the comics to continue the story at the end of the first season, so people would know they exist if they want to see what happens).
I haven't finished the comic yet, but I still say that the game should be about the game, and the comic should be about the comic.

I dont see why it has to be one or the other. I feel like the comic did a good job of filling in some of the blanks that the game couldnt address and adding to the mythology. It wouldnt be hard to tie them in for people not familiar with one or the other, and if they arent then they really arent missing anything. I consider the comic a bonus to the game, not a replacement of it.

So, a week has gone by since the comic ended. I expect this thread will die out so I just want to thank everyone for their input and for sharing the experience of reading this great comic with me. Until Wolf season 2!

Nice, now I can read them and own them simultaneously
Not in the UK
Fuck it...
Wut?
I live in the UK...
As so I

Maybe issue 48 is a bit longer than the previous issues (to close off stories)?
While it does feel a bit abrupt, oh well.....
But where am I gonna get my Fables filler from now on?
I wonder how they'll wrap up the flashback stuff, because it doesn't seem like it's close to the end...
@HazzatheMan - I was wrong about Volume 1 (Arriving 12 Nov 2015, via AmazonUK)
No, it doesnt. Maybe a spin off to the spin off.
The last one might be extra-long, but I just hope it isn't rushed/cobbled together however it turns out.
Ahhh excellent!!!

Then again, I've always had Faith...
Now, back to waiting for S2!
He escapes from his holding cell.

After reading the comic, I'm glad my Bigby just killed the Crooked Man. lol Mike Hammer taught me well.
It seems like the Witching Well might have been the best option. Either that or the bird cage thing, some way to incapacitate him.
