So, what's next from Telltale Games?

  • Well, BTTF2 is in the section 'later maybe, but uncertain', that should clearly enough that it is not confirmed at all. Given the other releases that are coming this fall it is even more unlikely that anything will happen regarding a hypothetical BTTF2. Furthermore nothing was announced at all to this date.

However interestingly there is movement around that title with the porting of season 1 to X1, PS4 and 360. See this thread for a related discussion.

So let's keep an eye open, we never know what may happen next. I see two possible reasons for the season 1 porting:

    • do at least something related to that licence for the 30th anniversary and gather cash for this occasion (financial pragmatism)
    • refresh season 1 for a forthcoming season 2 (let's dream)

Choose which you find the most likely (my vote is for option 1)

  • I'm pretty sure the "Minecraft: Story Mode" thing is gonna flop. I am so excited for the Michonne mini-series and Season 3 though.

  • People said the same thing about Borderlands and look where thats at right now! You never know, minecraft story mode might be a success or it might fail. Just have to wait for the 1st episode.

  • Yes. Like how people were pretty sure that The Walking Dead was gonna flop, and The Wolf Among Us, and Tales from the Borderlands.

  • Im pretty sure minecraft isnt gonna be a big sucess from a sales perspective but i think its gonna be a game that the "few" people that buy it will enjoy. Who knows i could just be spouting bullshit i mean it is minecraft maybe its bound to sell well

  • Is there any chance at all we will get to see Back To The Future: Season 2 in the foreseeable future? I know it's under the 'Later maybe, but uncertain' category, but I'm still hopeful. Plus, with the fact that the 30th anniversary of BTTF is this year, I'd been hoping it would show up before the year ends, but I can see that's not going to happen, so...really, if it is created at any point in time, I would be ecstatic! Fingers crossed!

  • am i the only one that wants a doctor who telltale game?

  • Oh my god yes! That would be the best thing ever!

am i the only one that wants a doctor who telltale game?

  • I think they should make a Breaking Bad game but not from Walter White's perspective but from someone's view such as Mike and how he got into the drug business or even Gustavo. Who is thinking the same thing?

  • I think a Star Wars one should be made. That would be soooooo amazing.

  • DJ Khaled: A Telltale Games Series.

  • Hold back your laughter-crying mix gifs, but I think they've hinted TWAU Season 2 many times

  • I somehow hope that the new IP they're doing is some kind of crossover of things they have managed secured rights to use in it.

Heck, I would like some kind of "Telltale Party" or "Telltale Smash Bros" or something like that. ;)

  • I wish they would make more CSI games, they were what got me into Telltale back in the day.

Also would LOVE if they picked up on some of the old Sierra classics like Police Quest, Space Quest ect.. imagine how good they would be :D

  • There's actually something like that for Telltale, another Poker Night game featuring all the heroes of TTGs.

  • Interesting comment. Any link to such 'hint' ? Although I'd dream of it, I'm not sure there's so much backing of TWAU from TTG lately (in particular compared to the minecraft / TWD and furthermore DC or Marvel ... license power.

As stated in the first post of this thread, Kevin Bruner, Telltale's CEO, stated that a small Sam & Max game, "like poker", will be released after Telltale settles down after "growing like crazy".

The Poker Night games were big sellers, as they are the second best selling series on Steam, after The Walking Dead, according to SteamSpy, so it's a safe bet that they still do plan to do another game like them.

  • C´mon men, that´s not a Sam and Max game, the poker series are about poker, the rest is just a side feature. It´s cool that Sam and Max appear on those games, but that´s not a Sam and Max game, the same way is not an Evil Dead game, or a Portal 2 game, or a Borderlands game...

It is a game for all of those franchises though. It's a side game, rather than a main series game, but it's still a Portal game, a Sam & Max game, an Evil Dead game, and a Venture Bros. game because those characters are the main characters of the game (like how all of the Mario series spin-offs are still considered Mario games, though they're side games to the platformers of the main series).

  • So I guess Monkey Island 2 is also a Sam and Max game since it has a cameo, right? WAIT!! There a was dog named Sam in Walking Dead, so I guess Sam and Max season 4 already happen, no, wait, that´s the first poker game, than the second poker game and then Walking Dead season 2. Men, I didn´t even notice how much seasons and games Sam and Max actually have.

Must be pretty difficult to remember all the games in each franchise with that "if the character appears is part of the series" law you seem to think is a fact, rather then the straw argument it actually is.

Sam & Max don't cameo in the Poker Night games though. They were the co-stars of the Poker Night games. The cameos in the Poker Night games included characters such as Doug from The Walking Dead, Trixie Trotter from Back to the Future: The Game, and Monty Muzzled from Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures, as those were characters who just showed up in the games, like the characters in your examples. So, no the Poker Night games aren't The Walking Dead games, Back to the Future Games, or Wallace & Gromit games, but they are games for the series of the characters who headlined those games.

Sam & Max weren't the stars of Monkey Island 2 or The Walking Dead: Season Two, and they weren't included in promotional art for those games, but they were in the Poker Night games. People keep saying that Sam & Max cameoed in the Poker Night games, but they didn't. They were the headliners of those games. There's a big difference.

Nothing's been announced unfortunately. Telltale did release a remaster of their first season with Tom Wilson as Biff last year, and IDW Publishing is adapting Telltale's game into a comic this year, starting in May.

So it's possible that these are signs that a second season might still be in the works. Nothing definite though.
