Who saw Star Wars Episode VII?

I saw the premier over 10 hours ago and I must say it was better than I expected, I really honestly loved it. It had me in tears the moment the opening credits came up x'D It was funny, sad and interesting, I also found myself tearing up at how beautiful the surroundings were :3 So has anyone else watched it? Or anyone else going to see it?

P.S. make sure to have a spoil tag if you're going to talk about parts of the movie.

  • Im going to see it after Christmas.

  • I'm seeing it tomorrow night at the earliest possible time I can, I absolutely love Star Wars (the OT at least). Avoiding spoilers has been a nightmare since I'm typically leaping at the first opportunity to find out what happens in movies. Going in unspoiled for this, so excited. Glad to see that you and many others that have seen it liked it!

  • I plan on seeing it, sadly I was reading something completely unrelated to star wars but then the person who wrote it decided it would be funny to put a Star Wars spoiler in it out of no where. Hopefully it was fake. ;-;

  • Seeing it Saturday. Fingers crossed for terrible acting and unnecessary CGI lulz

  • I loved it. I fucking loved it. Goddamn amazing. I had this big stupid smile almost throughout the whole thing. Even teared up quite a bit just from the nostalgia and being brought back into this amazing universe, among other things.

  • I always say, until I see it with my own eyes, then it must be fake - when it comes to movies that is lol

  • I know what you mean, the Theater where I live is pretty small but had both Cinemas booked up xD I almost missed the beginning just ordering my Popcorn and Soda :x

  • Low expectations? lol I'm glad that they picked great actors and that CGI was only used where it was needed, at least in my opinion.

  • When I saw the opening text and iconic intro...It was magic...

    I really love this movie. I love the characters. There is less explaining and more showing and implying. The action felt better and more real. And yeah, I love it. I really want to see the movie again and feel extremely exciting for the next film. :)

  • Completely agree, not only was it a great movie but it's honestly one of the few movies I want to watch multiple times!

    I want to see it again, right now. :)

    One watch doesn't feel enough.

    Worst Episode Ever"

  • I saw it at 8 last night, and boy was it a blast. I've never seen a Star Wars film in theaters before, so it really was a monumental moment in my life. To laugh and cheer along with the audience when a funny joke came up or we saw an old character was one of the best experiences I've ever had.

    And now there's even more times to do all those things again when the next films come out, and the Anthology series!

  • I think I'll need to watch it again JUST for everything to register and click in my mind. Because I still can't believe that...that happened. :(

  • So I went to see it last night and sadly the spoiler was real with Han Solo ;-;

    I refuse to believe Han Solo is dead, I hope they pull some super magic thingy just so he can come back ;-;

  • I kinda expected that Han Solo would die, considering how Harrison Ford seem to want his character's story to end. But I never expected that he is killed by Kylo Ren, who we now know who he is.

  • I kinda figured Ren would kill him, we needed a reason to hate him.

  • Oh they certainly succeed. Knowing exactly who he is and who he killed, is the lowest and most despicable act that a person could do. I don't want him to be redeemed, I want him to suffer for eternity.

  • I saw it today, I didnt enter with high expectations to cinema (so that I wouldnt be disappointed) and I left pleasantly surprised how good this movie was.

  • Low expectation is good, makes it easier to enjoy a movie, game or book. Anything for that matter. :)

  • Saw it last night. It was fantastic, exceeded my expectations. Star Wars is back everyone!

  • All hail the King in the North! He speaks the truth! :)

    The magic is back!

  • Meh, I'm disappointed that he died for nothing- literally, nothing.

    Harrison Ford aside, the movie overall disappointed me and I'm surprised that people hate the prequels but not this.

  • There were high expectations but I was disappointed.

    When I heard they were making more: I was thinking they would be shit. After the 2nd trailer, I was excited. Then I started having doubts again but I excited myself- What I'm asking is why does it seem like EVERYONE liked this?

  • Well, you are allowed to have your opinions. I enjoyed the movie a lot, it is a return to what I really love about Star Wars.

    Why are you disappointed?

    Call me whiney, but it didn't like Star Wars to me lol

    IN MY OPINION (pls don't kill be fanboys/girls)- It seemed like a complete rip-off (ANOTHER Death Star, another R-2 basically, another Old Mentor who lets himself get killed as student looks on in horror, etc.) I just don't feel like they were that original and I had a hard time buying it. Despite killing Han (his own father), Kylo Ren (aka Ben Solo) as such a weak villain to me- he seemed bitchier than Hayden Christenen did in the prequels, and "Supreme Leader Snoke"- what even is he? A larger version of the Thing from Fantastic Four? The whole movie just seemed kind of "out of place" to me idk why, it seems like more of a fanfic tbh- and I'm a guy who LOVES shitty movies and often jumps on the bandwagon for major movies but this? I just couldn't do it and I'm not even sure EXACTLY WHY.

    Well, you are allowed to have your opinions. I enjoyed the movie a lot, it is a return to what I really love about Star Wars. Why are you disappointed?

  • Hmm...Okay then.

    I love the movie because it, I love the better main characters. The movie was easily able to make me care about Finn and Rey. I understand the story seems like a rip off, because it is suppose to be a story that we are familiar with. But Star Killer climax wasn't what engaged me the most, it was the confrontation between Rey and Finn against Kylo Ren in the forest.

    I like that the duel wasn't choreographed as perfectly like in the prequel, where the lightsaber duels felt like dancing, here it was gritty, dirty and harsh. It made it much more emotional and impressive, such as seeing Finn, a non-force user, using a lightsaber against Kylo Ren and managed to hold his own. It is telling me, that you don't need the force to use a lightsaber, you can be just as awesome without it.

    So yes, the movie left unanswered questions, but it leaves those questions to be answered in the next movie. So that why I want to see the next movie.

    I do agree that Kylo Ren is not as impressive, but I want to know why exactly Ben Solo fell to the dark side and want to live up to his Grandfather's legacy. What exactly went wrong? And his seemingly weakness and nervousness also adds to his character. How can you really live up to Darth Vader's legacy? No one can. So they turned that into an internal conflict for his character.

    If you don't like the movie, I understand. And I accept that. I am just telling you why I love the movie.

  • A LOT of people have brought up the resemblance between this and A New Hope, but many felt that it was them playing it safe and giving people what they wanted. A bunch of people have praised Kylo Ren (Including me) for being humanized. He's not emotionless like Darth Vader. You can see that he throws temper tantrums, he cries, he shows emotion.

    Snoke will more than likely be given more explaining in later sequels. And how does he look like a larger version of The Thing lol? One's a rock monster and another is a giant Smeagol.

    K, I kind of liked Rey and I was happy that she turned out to be the one with force powers and not Finn but to me, the prequels mirrored the originals also- it's time to be original.

    I get what you're saying but to me, It showed that Ren wasn't fully trained and Finn was motivated more, again he seemed like Hayden Christensen 2.0- I was expecting him to yell with bad delivery "Well from my point of view,the Jedi are evil!" OR "If you're not with me...then you are my ENEMY" OR "I have brought peace to my new empire"... Well, you get what i mean lol.

    So yes, the movie left unanswered questions, but it leaves those questions to be answered in the next movie. So that why I want to see the next movie.

    Yeah, there were unanswered questions and I'll probably see the next one for the hell of it but I'll probably not like it too.

    Meh, I like good characterization and maybe it's the actor but for like the 3rd time here- he seemed like Hayden Christensen 2.0 to me and his rage-quits were funny, not really intimidating to me, and yes- You can't live up to Vader.

    If you don't like the movie, I understand. And I accept that. I am just telling you why I love the movie.

    Thanks :) I bet a bunch of people will attack me though lol- and if not here, certainly on IMDb XD. I wanted to like this but I'm not as big of a Star Wars fans as others are and this just felt unreal to me, idk why.

    Definition of almost all of Disney's sequels LOL.

    I like emotion, but I have seen emotional teenage girls that didn't seem as bitchy as him- maybe it's the actor, but he didn't seem badass yet he didn't seem "humanized" either, he seemed like a plot device IN MY OPINION (Don't gang on me forum pls)

    Oh...he kind of looked like a Rock Monster lol, I had to look up Smeagol but yeah, he does look like that- a giant one

  • That part made me feel like I've never feeled before... the feels! ;-;

    I think I'll need to watch it again JUST for everything to register and click in my mind. Because I still can't believe that...that happened.

  • I'm pretty sure there's a Star Wars movie coming out next year but not a main one, and same here, I was too young to see the other movies so I'm glad I got to experience the premier for Episode VII with my friends and other Star Wars fans, so much laughter and nostalgia lol

    I saw it at 8 last night, and boy was it a blast. I've never seen a Star Wars film in theaters before, so it really was a monumental moment

  • At that scene, I knew it was either one or the other that would go, my friend told me that he felt a death coming as soon as Han and Chewie split up ;-;

  • I think it's because the Prequels was mostly just explaining everything and barely doing anything, I guess people just found the Prequels less captivating, I personally loved the Prequels the Originals but I have to say this is my favorite because it's the only movie that's ever captivated me for longer than 2 hours without making me yawn or sigh.
