RIP David Bowie: 1947-2016 (aged 69)
As most of you know, the world has recently lost one of its most respected singers and actors. Despite his unfortunate end by cancer, I think a lot of us can safely say that we have had the privilege to hear, see, and even be inspired by Bowie. He was widely known to be one of the most influential writers of pop music.
In addition, here are a few mentions from other celebrities that commemorate Bowie:
Sir Paul McCartney described him as a "great star" who "played a very strong part in British musical history."
Bowie's son, Duncan Jones, who is a Bafta-winning film director, wrote on Twitter: "Very sorry and sad to say it's true. I'll be offline for a while. Love to all."
Visconti wrote on Facebook: "His death was no different from his life - a work of art."
He then added: "He was an extraordinary man, full of love and life. He will always be with us."
Moreover, here are some pictures that came with a few interesting facts about David:
[This picture, showing Bowie performing on saxophone at a youth club at Biggin Hill in May 1963, is believed to be one of the first images of him on stage.]
[Fans gather to pay tribute to a mural marked at his birthplace in Brixton, South London.]
Some other intriguing facts:
- David Bowie's real name used to be David Jones, to which he later changed in the 60's to avoid further confusion with the lead singer of the Monkees (who also had the same name).
- He was the final guest on Marc Bolan's ITV music show, Marc, in 1977.
- His hit Ziggy Stardust is about Vince Taylor, who wrote Brand New Cadillac - later covered by The Clash.
- Bowie turned 69 on January 8th, 2016. He released Blackstar on the same day.
So as you can tell, I made this discussion for anyone willing to pay their respects to Bowie, and also to pay my respects to a man whose music I've listened to many times as a kid. His songs will pretty much live on forever!
My most favorite Bowie songs:

Such a shame . Odd many celebs are dying at 69
I read about it. The world has truly lost a legend. R.I.P., David Bowie.
Was waiting for this topic to pop up. Wasn't much of a fan, but I was just getting to know, David Bowie. Rest in peace, dude.
Terrible news to hear today.
"Life On Mars?" is one of my favorite songs ever. It's nothing of this world. I bet he really was the man who fell to earth.
Why does every good celebrity die from cancer?
Fuck Cancer!
I felt really weird when I heard he died this morning because I was listening to Ground Control to Major Tom last night...
RIP.
We lost the wrong 69 year old.
Cough Trump Cough
I thought the song was called Space Oddity.
Yeah it is, I dont know why I wrote Ground Control to Major Tom.
And Keith Richards outlives another.
I wouldn't see why not. He was, after all, the man who sold the world.
I'm really surprised no one posted this kind of topic earlier yesterday. Fortunately I stepped in and changed that.
You speak the truth, dude.
RIP, love the covers he inspired too.

I was thinking the same. I don't think if I had made it, it would've been as personal, so cheers to you, friendo.
I wish there a cure will be find for all types of Cancer
RIP I know a family member of mine who really love this guy's music.
One of my first memories was dancing to 'changes' when I was 5. I'll never forget that
It would be nice, so that all cancer types would finally be eradicated from this Earth.
