Do you think Leonardo Di Caprio will finally win an oscar this year?

I don't know how he hasn't won one yet, hes been is loads of major films like titanic, catch me if you can, The wolf of wall street and many more and his role in the Revenant is one of his best so hopefully its his year this time.

  • I hope Leonardo wins. He has been working so hard for it. He deserves it.

And it is getting ridiculously funny at this point.

  • I think he'll win this year, he didnt talk that much in the Revenant, but all the pain noises and all the scenes he was in really makes me want him to win. Again.

  • The movie sucks, he won't win

  • I'm surprised he and Kate didn't get awarded for their roles in Titanic!
And I'm surprised Leo didn't get awarded for his role in "Catch Me If You Can!", or, "Shutter Island."

  • I saw The Revenant, everyone gave a great preformance. I'm assuming that's what he is nominated for. It was a really slow movie though.

  • It became a running joke now at this point.

  • He apparently worked his arse off in that movie. He deserves it.

  • He will win one eventually, I haven't seen The Revenant so I can't really say for certain if he'll win this year though. It'd be nice if he were to win one though. I can just imagine the amount of things he'll say on stage when the day comes where he actually does win one.

He better. He was phenomenal in The Revenant.

If he doesn't, at least he won that Golden Globe.

  • The real question is, who will get an Best Actor Oscar first, Leonardo or a black person?

(There have been no black nominees since 2013 and only four black people have one best actor, the last being Forest Whitaker in 2006; Halley Berry is the only black woman to win best actress and that was in 2001).

  • HA yeah suuuuure he will

  • maybe they need to be better at acting.

  • Yep, you got it. Thumbs up. Black people just can't be as good actors as white people. That's why they don't get best actor. Has nothing to do with the vast majority of films, especailly major films, being led by white actors for a predominatly white audience, black actors are just consistenly poorer actors than white people (sarcasm).

  • I hope. He really is a spectacular actor. Most everything he's in shines a bit brighter for him being present.

Though I can't judge The Revenant per say, I haven't seen it yet (I hear it's good).

woah sjew i never said black people were bad actors. clearly i said the contenders this year need to try harder. the actor who played finn in star wars 7 did a good job. just not oscar good. wow you jump to conclusions fast. but i knew you would jump to conclusion. so easy to "trigger". you act like african americans are still pulling carts picking cotton and shit. let it go already, shit was over 100 years ago.

  • I think he'll probably win it: no offense to the other nominees but compared to Leo's role- I really don't think there's much competition unless they hand it to Eddie Redmayne for the fact that he played a guy turning woman or whatever he did in that movie. Matt Damon was fun and all in The Martian but I don't think he deserves an Oscar for Leading Role for it, Haven't seen Bryan Cranston in Trumbo, I've only seen bits of Steve Jobs but I don't think Michael Fassbender will win so I think the others didn't go to the lengths Leo did and that he gave the greatest performance, we'll see I guess.

  • but i know what you want. you want them to give an african american a pity oscar. cuz "equality"

  • I call bullshit. I see how nothinig you said contradicts my response. The majority of movies are written with white actors in mind, and so major movies are going to have white protagonists as the subject. Yes, its a bias not at the acting level, but at the casting level, but saying "maybe they need to be better at acting" is feeding into complete ignorance of that bias. But sure, say I'm 'triggeered.' No you didn't write it, but that's a dog whistle calling me an 'SJW' who thinks I'm a 'snowflake.' If you think saying black actors don't get the same fair shake as white actors is the same as saying they're picking cotten, you're' out of your mind.

  • eddie redmayne? they better fuckin not. they already gave him a pity oscar for playing a disabled man. and i know its a pity oscar cause even i couldve played that role. Matthew mcconaughey did an outstanding performance with interstellar. and then they gave the oscar for best film to some bird movie cuz it wuz "broadway" with "art" or some shit that the oscar judges eat up. i think matthew shouldve won 2015 for interstellar and leo shouldve won 2014 for wolf of wallstreet. those guys did their best stuff in that. such a waste.

  • looking at the nominations i hope leo wins for revenant cause the shit ive heard he's done in that film he even got hypothermia at one point. but chances are their gonna pick eddie redmayne for his trans role cuz "Equality" as for the movie i think mad max should win it that movie had shit all cgi and was fuckin awesome. actress i dont care ive never seen those movies. as for best animated film. inside outs just gotta win. that was a good film...also hockey! xD

  • Hey, I'm not a big fan of his but I'm calling it, they might snub Leo and give it to Eddie for the sake of political correctness and "spreading the news of Transgender people across the world". Speaking of Leo, I think he should have won in 2012 instead of Christoph Waltz for Django Unchained: I like Waltz but I think Leo deserved it more than he did, I don't even think Leo was nominated for that.

  • hahaha never said it was the same as picking cotton but ive met plenty of sjws who say its the same. i called you an sjw cause you just got randomly offended or as they call it "triggered" by the fact there isnt a black actor that has gotten a pity oscar yet. the book im writing the 4 main characters are white. not because i hate black people but that is what i imagine the characters looked like, so i making them that way. and if you or anyone thinks im gonna say "oh shit i should check my privilege and change a character's skin cause equality" then you or they are wrong. im gonna create more characters how i see fit and then im gonna continue my book. and if one day it became a film and i can cast people. im going to look for people who can act and look similar to the characters. if i cannot find a perfect actor that looks like the character and acts perfect then im gonna find the best one i can, even if they are different ethnicity. as long as it works. but im going for accuracy before "equality" (using quotation marks cause equality doesnt actually mean shit anymore thanks to 3rd wave feminism and sjws)

in short me and other writers are gonna make whatever character we feel like and we will use the best resource at hand. and if that best resource is a black actor playing a white character. then so fucking be it. but if we have the chance to use an actor that is accurate to the role we are gonna take it. whether or not people cry about it.

  • As meh as the Revenant was, Leo did an excellent job.

  • I really hope he wins this year. This man has been working his butt off for years and still hasn't won an Oscar. I think he should have won for the role as Jay Gatsby in "The Great Gatsby". He should have won a lot of Oscars after all the roles he has played. He is a great actor. If he does win this year, I am going to have a heart attack from happiness.

  • I hope not otherwise I won't be able to use one of my favorite memes anymore.

  • I wasn't 'randomly offended' and I don't think I'm offended at all, I just think you're wrong. Nor am I 'triggered.' If you're going to use mock tumlbr-speak, at least get the terms right.

But you're talking out of both sides of your mouth - you're making a book with 4 white characters, and you have a preference towards having those roles beign given to white people, as are a lot of other writers. That's your right, but then don't turn around and say "maybe they need to be better at acting."

  • who the hell knows. all i know is that The Revenant was freaking awesome. i thought his acting, well i mean half the shit he experienced he actually experience, not the bear attack ( holy fuck i wish not). but goddamn everything was perfect, imo. everyone was great. i havent seen much films from 2015 but i know Leo was phenomenal. the big shot and spotlight actors might win it though.
