Dream Career?

My whole life I've wanted to get into music, whether it's composing it, reviewing it or studying it's history. I can safely say I'm obsessed with music, there isn't a genre I dislike and I listen hours every day as well as playing the guitar. Would love to learn more about it and maybe get a job from it. Sometimes I don't know why I don't and what the fuck i'm doing with my life haha.
I've also wanted to get into something with surfing, I've grown up on the Aussie coast my whole life and love the ocean, surf journalism was a big dream of mine in my late high school years...traveling the coasts of the world and writing down my travels...never happened :(
Third is probably obvious. We're all gamers here, so a field in that. Always thought YouTube would be a cool outlet, whether or not I get popular...but going with this thread, never happened.
I fell like I need to wake up to myself and actually go for these things, but I still haven't...one day I will, I hope.

  • I've always thought of being a psychologist but I am kinda scared. :<

Writer, lawyer, historian, psychologist or anything that has to do with developing video games

  • That is amazing! I'd love to something like that too because sitting in a boring office for 40 years is kinda boring to me. Although I am going to stick with economy for now.

Anything that involves making people happy or helping them through their problems. Be it writing, YouTube, art, becoming a therapist, just anything that helps people smile or helps them in general is a perfect job to me.

  • You sound really serious and passionate about music, you deserve your dream career. I hope everything works out for you in the future. (:

  • My dream job is joining the red cross or UN (or some other equivalent, I haven't researched the specific organizations) in any position that would allow me to go to "savage" worlds and give aid to the populations there (be it the middle east, africa, south american countries, etc). Luckily this is an achievable goal, so whether my current trajectory pans out or not the outcome is roughly the same.

  • Yeah, you should have no problem in that regard, NGO's are in desperate need right now. Doctors Without Borders is a good one, as long as you stay away from the U.S. Air Force.

The air force recently bombed and strafed a DWB hospital because they suspected it was being used by the Taliban.

In general, countries around the world have been cracking down on NGO's.

Some are acting and gesticulating in front of microphone, if it helps. I think you have to be born with interesting voice. Acting classes can be useful but won't teach you to sound exactly like adult Afro-American, little girl or Batman. Don't expect voice actor to say - my job is easy but Tara and Troy don't look like hard working people (no off. I don't want either).

I would just like to win something with my draws; it's not a job, but I would like it, just once.

Otherwise I guess my dreamjob would be prosecutor or judge but without some of the constraints which exist with the function, such as the mobility or the huge hierarchy thing.

  • Becoming a judge takes years and years of training, a recommendation, you'd have to have experience as an attorney/prosecutor or both as well. It's really not worth it I think.

You're right , classes probably won't teach you how to sound exactly like super specific characters , but they might help you a lot impersonating a lot of types of personalities and characters , that can be later used as reference to what you might be cast to. Though , they're certainly not mandatory , I don't think Alex Hirsch had any , though he delivers great and voices for some of his characters in gravity falls.

I think it's more about versatility and believability of the characters you're protraying, than just having an interesting voice.

sometime though , bad voice acting can be hilarious and very intertaining
