  • Honestly it seems like all of the guards were down for killing Doran. Unless somehow Preston Jacobs's theory that Qybern is a Dornish agent, whatever other plan Doran had was not explained on the show. I seems D&D should have made more of an effort to introduce Dorne before last season. Or maybe Dorne was always doomed to fail.

I think that Ellaria has been driven completely insane by grief and the horror of witnessing Oberyn's head getting crushed. That's the only

  • The show is an adaptation. An adaptation means you make cut or do changes if they're interesting but in the end you should try to stick the more about the character's nature. This one is totally forgotten about Ellaria, the same for the Sand Snakes. I don't hate the series for the hell of it; I liked the series until series 3 included, and the changes who were made too; they had interests (Tywin x Arya) or for time-short question. But now they change the very nature of each character just because they want it. It's almost like not one character isn't the same in his nature now.

Oh how vile and evil that does sound... out of context. Because I was literally just, totally acknowledging it myself, hyping up the new trailer and even mentioned in that comment that it was just a joke and nothing personal.

It's quite easy insulting and saying at the same moment it's a joke mate but ok.

I don't go to book thread so I can't tell. Also if I went on this thread by surprise, I kept reading for there must be some cannons hidden in it and waiting for the books with several delays is tiring aswell.

Anyway I understood, I will keep my unpopular opinion for myself.

I can compare both seeing the things mentionned there and the fact I watch it until season 5. For example: Ellaria is kind and for peace; sh

It's an adaptation but it's also a TV show that has a viewer base of mostly people who have not read the books. Do you think a show like that should be judged purely based on its adaptation choices? I guess you can if you really want, but for most people this is a TV show first, adaptation second. And I personally don't think the rules of criticism should change just because something is an adaptation - it should still be judged as its own thing.

Long story short, it was a fucking disaster. At least for me. Maybe because I'm comparing it to the books, where Sand Snakes have logic, Ellaria is a kind woman who wants no war, Doran is way smarter, Ramsay's dogs don't disapper for no reason, big and muscular people don't die because of one stab (it looks like D&D decided to not spend much money on fights), women don't teleport, the Dothraki recognise Daenerys (BECAUSE THERE WAS A FUCKING HUGE WEDDING WITH ALL THE KHALS PARTYING, M'KAY?), etc...

  • We have two differents views of how an adaptation should worked. I also criticize the show on others points than the adaptation work (plot holes which are many for examples) but since it's quite a litigious point, I won't develop.

Let's leave personal attacks out of this and get back on topic, please. Thanks.

  • Oh come on, are you really complaining about the dogs? An awesome scene and all you see in it is some tiny detail to nitpick about. Also, perhaps Khal Moro just wasn't at that wedding? Problem solved.

Pretty much agree about Dorne though...

  • I'm glad Doran and Trystane died, it meant they didn't have to suffer the Sand Snakes' horrible acting and the shitty plot D&D would write for the Snakes.

  • I think at this point, we shouldn't compare the show to the books. If we keep comparing it to the books, all we get are disappointment.

  • Haha the one line when one of them said, in the most urban voice I have heard you greedy *****, I died. But still the annihilation of the martell's in the first eo was a massive wtf moment

  • I loved this episode, it was a really good start to the season. But there's a certain thing I can't get over. Trystanne's death. What was the point? I found him to be a new and interesting character, and was really looking forward to him. I understand Doran's death, it crushed me but it didn't suprise me. Trystanne had so much potential. Killing him off literally did nothing for the story.

  • Did anyone else feel like D&D were being salty cos no-one liked their version of the Sand Snakes, so they just decided to toss out the only interesting Dorne characters out of sheer spite?

  • I thought that we were going to watch him grow into a proper lord of House Martell and avenge his father. But alas, his time ended too soon just like Ethan. :(

  • I didnt think of it either. That makes me happy. The thought of the Lannisters having Ned's sword always incensed me.

I love scene with Brienne and Sansa. By laying her sword Oathkeeper at her feet, she is basically returning Ned's sword to the Starks. Oathkeeper is forged from the steel of Ned's greatsword, in case you are wondering.

  • Daario can die. That would be okay by me. Im sad for Jorah though. Ive always loved Jorah.

I think its time we as fans accepted a few things. As hard as they may be to accept.

First of, i think several of us need to finally get that the Sands Snakes are major characters. If you werent convinced by the hours of constant screen time then the fact that they have killed all the other possible plots for Dorne should clinch it. They aren't going away no matter how hard some of us wish it. The show wants War with Dorne.

And second, we NEED to stop comparing it to the books. At this point it is only hurting the show. Especially since the source material hasn't been published.

  • To me, theyre two ways to tell the same story. Im not a book purist. I guess because I was a show fan first, but I enjoy both.

As for the Sand Snakes, they did almost nothing in the books, so I guess they had to find something for them to do. Not too happy they killed of Doran but not that surprised since he made it seem that he would kill Elaria if she screwed up again and the girls are protecting their mother. And Trystane had to go as the last heir, although I am sorry for him.

  • I teared up when Sansa gave Brienne the same oath that Catelyn did forever ago.... oh the feels....

  • Did anyone else notice how fake Jorah's greyscale looked? It looked like they just drew it with a marker

  • That scene was awesome. I love Sansa so much.

  • I agree that Ellaria and SS are all they can use for Dorne now, but I wouldn't really call them major characters. The whole storyline of Dorne had a very small screentime last season, and I'm sure it's this season even more on the bottom of the list. If anyone from Dorne is even close to a major character it's Ellaria, and even with her I can't really compare to the 1st tier characters like Dany, Cersei, Jaime, Tyrion, Sansa, Arya etc.

Ellaria is 2nd tier at best, SS fall to 3rd tier.

And btw. Do we all ignore how brave Theon was? Sacrificing himself so that Sansa can escape knowing what Ramsay will do to him. Thats why he is my favorite character. Hes been through so much.

  • In my eyes, Theon has redeemed himself. I was worried he might die when he tried to lure them away.

Song Of Ice and Fire books spoilers!

Thankfully they're much better in the books. Marcella is rebellious until Doran explains things and gives her some insight to her scheming and she settles down. And rather than straight up murder Marcella she tries a nonviolent kidnapping, which doesn't really work as Marcella loses an ear and a good hunk of her jaw, but it's the thought that counts.

  • It occurs me that Stannis The Mannis is still MIA. I know his death is implied, but that's not confirmed which is kinda ironic coming from Brine given the events of Feast For Crows and Dance With Dragons.

Anyways, I don't think Stannis is dead yet.
