  • About the wonderful and well directed coup d'etat (sarcasm mode on) I'm the only one that think D&D during the next episodes will show use some piece of nonsense making Ellaria become the new "Queen of Dorne" even if she and her "lovely" sand snakes are kinslayers?Just because they are "loved" by the non existing people of Dorne (I said this because the show never make his viewer see not even a citizien of that country)?

  • I don't think there is Dorne in next episode at all, so nope. It is indeed an interesting question on how will they solve this power vacuum they created because there certainly isn't enough time to have a civil war plotline on Dorne. In the end what I think this all will lead to is Ellaria and SS teaming up with Dany at some point in the future, maybe, I don't really know anymore.

Personally I'm just looking forward to the better stuff that's coming: Bran and his flashbacks, the battle in the North, Cersei vs. the Faith Militant, the Ironborn storyline (hopefully it'll be good). Heck, the only storyline this year that I don't really care for is Dorne. Well, Sam&Gilly maybe, but at least we'll see Randyll Tarly on that storyline so actually I am looking forward to that as well :D

  • The rest of native english fandom isn't in awe of it either. We just usually don't care if we offend anyone. Just look at how our LGBT fares, quite demonstrative.

I've noticed one interesting thing. While most of the people on this thread seem to like the episode, 90% of Russian fandom are disappointed and actually compare it to shit. I wonder why...

Each scene is at least 90% non-canon.

Most part of the episode does't make any sense.

    No Euron Crow's Eye.

    No young Griff.

    This fucking D&D's Dorne.

    0/10.

    ...

I already can't wait for the next one ._.

  • I think Euron will appear in the next episode since the Ironborns is featured in the preview.

With the exception of the Dorne part, I thought this was a good episode.

  • Ugh why do you even watch it if you hate anything non book. You do realise its impossible for them to follow the books anymore right?

They have to cut out most of the book 4 and 5 plots as they just create numerous side characters that overcomplicate things. Gryff and everything else will work well in several lengthy books but not a ten episode series. Its an adaption

  • Are you fucking trolling me? his tv arc was fine? and likely how his book plot will go? Stannis' story in season 5 was so full of holes, it made swiss cheese look like cheddar. It's a prime example of how D&D is butchering GRRM's story.

You seriously thought the story made sense? Preston Jacobs will prove you wrong:

They may have rushed a bit into him killing his daughter but I still find that in character, stannis burns vast amounts of people on Melisande orders and him going a bit furthur in the show isnt much of a stretch. Every other part of his character is straight out of the books, Ive found stannis a cool character but ive never got this worship for him.

What more is his book plot going to have? I mean really pretty much everything is guessing and not to mention the show is an adaption that needs to be simpler than several long books. You can never directly adapt a book to film/tv it just wont work right.

EDIT: Also watched a bit of two of those videos

The first one he even says that the theme of killing your own children is massive in asoiaf so hes basically confiming its a good plotpoint.

The second hes one, very nitpicky (oh on the map someone made from the books they would be here/not here) and two he basically claims that if they had all died in a battle it would have been the same effect ...um what? Stannis burning his own daughter is an utterly horrific horrible thing he chooses to do? Not her dying to some enemy on the battlefield. Also claiming killing her is shock value is so daft, shock value is doing something just to shock, they built up to the burning (albeit a bit quickly but still believable in my opinion) and there was lots of aftermath from it. It was hardly there just to shock.

  • What benefit would there be of him being alive, what would he do? The only thing I could see him doing now is becoming the new head of the nights watch to pay for his sins and dying alongside them as the first victims of the others. He would go out a sort of hero, and in line with his character doing the hard thing but unloved and forgotten.

  • Yeah thats my only theory of what the guy could end up doing end game (book and show). I think his character is all but done in the books also

  • "This Differic guy must totally be talking about Firewallcano's opinion, and not at all about him calling an objectively inconsistent plot fine and about his ability to predict how the plot will go. Differic isn't asking if Firewallcano is trolling, he says he must be doing so! Even though Differic has stated only one opinion, (that D&D are butchering GRRM's story,) I conclude without reason that Differic is by no means open to other peoples opinions. He has links to YouTube videos in his post? It must mean that he has no other arguments on his own. He couldn't possibly have posted those links because much of what he would say about Stannis' story are in them anyway, so it saves him from typing."

"Your opinion is different than mine?!?!! You must be trolling, only my opinion can be right! Here, look these YouTube videos, they are my argument!"

  • If you had watched some more of the second video I brought the link to, you would see an interesting theory of how he could regain his power and liberate the North.

  • Lol, if someone here is troll, it's you. "The plot being bad is not an opinion, it's a fact.... because that's my opinion!" And yes, just throwing links to YouTube videos is a pretty lazy argument, especially when you represent them as some greater truth that will "prove you wrong".

  • To be clear: Logical consistency is not a matter of opinion. Either a story is logically consistent or it's not. I guess you actually could say that Stannis' story is fine, if you like inconsistent stories.

Having links in a comment is not necessarily lazy, it can (as in this case) be efficient.

I never blamed Firewallcano for liking the plot. I wondered if he thought the plot made sense. In that case, he would be wrong.

Where didnt the stannis plot make sense? Up until he left castle black it was identical, and after that it was almost identical to the book up until the burning

You can bullet point them im not watching several 10 minute videos from a biased third party source, what did you personally think didnt make sense in the stannis plot?

  • The plot being inconsistent is just your interpretation on it. I've seen the arguments on that sort of interpretation before and I, like many others, have had counter arguments to it. You seeing something as inconsistent isn't be all end all truth and conclusion. And even if there would be a plothole or two that could be nitpicked from there, it doesn't necessarily make the story bad, it is just a minor negative on it. There are massive amounts of amazing stories in the world that have some plotholes in them.

To me some small plotholes don't matter as long as the story is enjoyable. If your answer to that is "the story is not enjoyable", then we are once again in the realm of opinions.

  • But isnt Jon supposed to liberate the north?

Yes he is. Once he is resurrected and released from his Night's Watch vows, he is free to lay his sword at Stannis' feet, to rise again as Jon Stark, Lord of Winterfell and join Stannis in his war against the Boltons. Or maybe he will forget all about Stannis' offer and make a claim for the Iron Throne as Jon Targaryen.

Also your basically saying its bad because there is some theory youd prefer to have

What the hell are you talking about?

But isnt Jon supposed to liberate the north? Also your basically saying its bad because there is some theory youd prefer to have

  • i think he will be resurrected around episode 3-4. no let me rephrace that, around episode 3-4 it will be the set up for his resurrection, then around episode 4-5 (maybe 6) we see jon comeback. what i mean is that around episodes 3-5 we might just see just the set up to the ritual or whatever the case it might be to his resurrection, and in one of them is gonna be the actual ritual and it ends there. than in episdoe 6, maybe earlier with episode 5, we now see fully resurrected Jon Stark/Targaryen.

    BOOM. Kappa.
