Aeron's spoiler chapter for "Winds of Winter" [Discussion Thread]

As some of you might know, George Martin has read a new spioler chapter of "Winds of Winter" at the Balticon 2016 (if you missed it, read it here). It was Aeron's POV and we actually learned some very interesting things from it:

  • Euron is in Shields, sails out to sea, Aeron is his captive;

  • Aeron thinks about Asha marrying Victarion to consolidate power;

  • Pyat Pree was a captive of Euron that kept saying "Pree, Pree", he had no legs;

  • Lots of religious figures there, including Red Priest and some warlocks from Qarth;

  • Euron wearing iron crown with shark teeth on it;

  • Euron's got some fancy new armor with runes and glyphs...Aeron says it's made of Valyrian steel;

  • Euron impregnated bastard daughter of Shield Lord, Falia Flowers. She thinks she'll be his salt wife, but ends up with her tongue cut, lashed to ship;

  • Euron forcing Aeron to drink shade-of-the-evening again, he has some interesting visions:

Aeron Damphair looked. The mound of skulls was gone. Now it was metal underneath the Crow’s Eye. A great, tall seat of razor-sharp iron of barbs and blades and broken swords, all dripping blood. Impaled upon the longer spikes were the bodies of the gods. The Maiden was there, and the Father, and the Mother and the Warrior and Crone and Smith, even the Stranger. They hung side by side with all manner of queer, foreign gods, The Great Shephard and the Black Goat, Three Headed Trios and the Pale Child Bakkalon, the Lord of Light, and the Butterfly God of Naath, and there swollen in green heft devoured by crabs, the Drowned God festered with the Red Sea Horse, still dripping from its hair.

The dreams were even worse the second time. He saw the longships of the Ironborn adrift and burning on a boiling, bloodred sea. He saw his brother on the Iron Throne again, but Euron was no longer human. He seemed more squid than man, a monster fathered by a kraken of the deep, his face a mass of writhing tentacles. Beside him stood a shadow in woman’s form, long and tall and terrible, her hands alive with pale white fire. Dwarves capered for their amusement, male and female, locked in carnal, biting and tearing at each other as Euron and his mate laughed and laughed and laughed

  • Euron admits that he has kileed three brothers (Harlon, Robin and Balon), but he hasn't killed Balon personally, he just gave the order;

  • And the most disturbing one: the fan theory abour Euron raping Aeron in the past was confirmed.

"It was me who taught you how to pray, little brother, have you forgotten? I would visit your bedchamber at night when I’d had too much to drink. You shared a room with Urrigon high up in the Seatower. I could hear you praying from outside the door. I always wondered, were you praying that I would choose you, or that I would pass you by."

"You know what its like to be caught in the rear, don’t you,” said the Red Oarsman, laughing. (it was said to Aeron)

So I'd like to hear what you think about all this.

  • Well, all I can say is that Euron is basically Ramsay with more charisma and brains + magic. Or that's the feeling this chapter left. I only read it once, and I probably wont read it again before the book comes, so I'll be skipping the deeper speculation for now.

  • I talked about it in the last episode of GOT; I wasn't sure how many people would care for this chapter.

    Here are basically my thoughts:

    -Aeron has his beliefs crushed. He thought the Drowned God would punish somehow his brother and when he knows he has been raping, kinslaying, kingslaying since a long time he lost his faith imo. If he survives Euron I wonder how he will evolve.

    -Valyrian steel armor! If it's really one, he will be almost invicible in fight.

    -Also Euron on the Iron throne. I wonder about these prophecies, specially about the two darves fighting. It reminded me the 5 dwarves harrassing a woman saw by Daenerys, supposedly representing the 5 kings and Westeros.

    Could it announce another war, with Euron on top? As WildingKing pointed out once, GRRM mentionned a Dance of Dragons 2.0 might happen.

    I have no idea who this tall woman could represent though.

    Otherwise, I think you pointed everything about this chapter :)

  • I have no idea who this tall woman could represent though

    Someone guessed that it could be Cersei - this woman in the vision had pale white fire in her hands and there is a high probability that Cersei might burn the King's Landing with the wildfire.

  • Well that would be a couple :D New ship has born, #Ceuron or #Eursei xD

  • Who would be madder? They would match somehow, I guess.

    If so, the two dwarves fighting could simply be Tyrion and Penny.
