Scrapped Content In Video Games You Wish Made The Final Cut

There are at times where I get so into a game/series that I just can't help but dig every scrap of info I can get to satisfy my intrigue. At times I would find, with chance, great content of games that were scrapped that I feel would've made the game better. Things that make you wonder why they didn't make it in the final cut. I've often look for these things, I'm sure others do too, so I thought I make a thread about it. So we can share this information with each other. So fire away with your discovered scrapped content!

I'll make a post later of a particular game.

  • The whole other half of KOTOR 2.

  • I love the intigue, a quest item with no quest, a locked door without a key. most games have hints that there was going to be more to them, im playing mad max and working towards 100% completion so I pay close attention, sometimes the explosives sniffer dog barks at random points suggesting scrapped collectables, there is also a scavenging location off the edge of the map, it looks like a mine and there is a cool car there that you can take.

I cant think of a favorite right now but im sure one will come to me. Im looking forward to other peoples comments :)

  • If you watch The Last of Us early gameplay footages, you can see that there was the ability of sprinting while crouching but it was scrapped when the game was released.

  • Being able to kill children in Skyrim.

  • There was apparently going to be a quest where you had to assassinate a child.

  • Being able to use my war assets in ME3's lackluster final mission

  • Basketball, pool, and exercising in GTA 5

  • Good AI in The Last of Us

  • Also the ability of sprinting while crouching.

  • The original script and art style of Bioshock: Infinite, witch Elizabeth was much cooler than timey whimey Elizabeth also her... appearance was nicer.

  • This. Love how they said none of the things in these demos were scripted.

A fair amount of content from the Half-Life 2 beta

I can understand why things changed, and as much as I like the game as it is now, there are some things from the beta that I really wish made it to the final game. Even the half-finished, barely playable maps were interesting and fun to play on, and it would have been amazing to see some of those concepts/maps/areas make it all the way to the final version. Shit like the Wasteland, Air Exchange, Vertigo, and the Borealis (by this point I doubt anyone really knows what I'm talking about, but whatever)

  • Fun fact: this version of Booker was supposed to be a swashbuckling hero instead of the final depressed gambler. Also i got a Wizard Of Oz vibe from the "find Comstock at the top of the hill" thing.

  • For me, (at the moment while thinking about it,) a full, huge campaign for the new Star Wars Battlefront, or at least some returning game modes from the older titles.

  • There was a lot of content that was cut from Mafia 2.

First off, there were supposed to be optional missions. It's very apparent in the game, some of the character even indulge you to sometime stop by, because they might have a job for you. Well guess what, they never do.

For example this was never in the game.

    enter link description here

They eventually used part of the mission for Joe's Adventures DLC, but eh.

Also you could acquire gun license. I believe developers said there was supposed to be some optional mission about that. If you had it, the cops wouldn't arrest you immediately if they saw you with a gun. Dunno why they scrapped it.

Now for the endings. I remember some interview with a developer who said there were supposed to be multiple endings. The final cut had only 1 ending.

There are more things, for example the war missions were supposed to be longer (around 7 chapters instead of 1 we got), there were supposed to be melee weapons, public transport, ability to shoot from the car, etc.

Since I followed the development of the game from the beginning, this is why was the second Mafia so disappointing to me. Hopefully Mafia 3 will be better.

For anyone interested, you can read more about cut content from Mafia 2 HERE.

  • So dark, but would have been so interesting

    Jesus christ.

  • Well, this is dark. But I think that if they kept this part of the game, it could enhance the atmosphere that this is still a post-apocalypse world with insane people.

  • Holy shit, that's too dark.

However, kinda wish it was in the game, too... like many, many scrapped content of Fallout: New Vegas.

  • Was a perfect game though nonetheless

  • Strange... I didn't get your reply on my feed lmfao.

And true. Fallout: New Vegas still remains my favorite Fallout game, even though so many great things of it have been scrapped. :(

  • Actually, I heard that most of its scrapped content was for the sake of PS3/Xbox users, so they wouldn't handle much problems, since those can't handle much as PC does...

  • I played through on xbox alot, got the achievements, then moved to PC just to mod the shit out of it.

    Worth. It.

  • Haha, I started playing it from PC and finished 4 vanilla playthroughs before I modded the shit out of it.

Now the Legion soldiers don't have bodies... they only have hands and heads... :I

I should've been more careful with modding.

Eh, I tried to make the Willow companion mod work. But it was bugged for me. So I just went with the Delilah companion mod.

Oh, and the Deathclaw companion mod. :^)

At least we got one of the funniest fourth-wall breaking moments in video games.

    "Think of the kids."

    • Lilly coming back with the RV in TWD S1 as mentioned by Gavin Hammon
    • The Jungle Book and Toy Story worlds in Kingdom Hearts BBS and II
    • Any content cut (holiday outfits) or replaced (Big the Cat in Eggman's mech, by a Dark variant of the Chao Walker) in Sonic Adventure 2: Battle
    • Characters that were being modeled for the Smash Bros. games, especially those near completion (Mewtwo in Brawl)
    • Spider-Gwen, Star Wars Episode 8 and freely being able to crossover in Disney Infinity 4.0
    • Botsukyara and full Oni Papa fights for Sugar Shooter 2 (the latter of which is still being considered/developed as a patch/DLC)
    • Choice-based deaths in the DISTRUST build of Danganronpa
    • The last two/three official routes and any remaining sprites in Morenatsu
    • The removal of what could only be described as "epic b*tchslaps" from later Naruto Storm games as well as any character or outfit that hasn't made it to the last game
    • Lukas' prototype outfit in MCSM
    • Everything cancelled, cut or not brought back between Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing and Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed
    • Sophia Fairbanks' model in TWDM
    • TWD material in Poker Night 2
    • Banjo's removal for the DS release of Diddy Kong Racing
    • More TWD stuff
    • I think something Mario-related, but I forget what and this list is long enough as is
  • Let's compare the demo and the final game: look at Liz face, it's much more round and she looked younger, her eyes were much bigger and expressive and lastly, her breast were bigger and had jiggle physics.

  • The original ending to Mass Effect 3 would have been a Heck of a lot better than the shit ending we got.
