France: man stabs mother and three daughters

A man stabbed a mother and her three daughters (ages 8, 12, and 14) at a resort in France for wearing t-shirts and shorts.

Taking bets on his religious affiliation.

  • A follower of flying spaghetti monster cult! Only those bastards are that sick!

  • Probably not long.

Better get your bet in before time runs out!

  • I was planning to run away with the money.

  • At the current state, we'll need a megathread for all these attacks... Oh dear.

  • You think someout ought to make a News Thread, so we can just compile all of this stuff there?

  • Terrorist Attack Megathread! Now that would be a mighty thread. Probably would be updated quite often.

  • I've considered doing something like that before. Would you guys be interested?

(That being said, it's probably not the best idea as we'd have to flag way more comments if discussion was not civil since we would not have the option of locking an entire thread)...)

  • Oh no. I hope they're okay.

  • It would probably be more work than it's worth. At least the way it is now you can close independent threads easily.

  • No i dont think a huge news thread would work, its not to the level where there are that many threads.

    Are they okay? :'(

    What happened to the guy?

  • Don't forget the hotel near an highway I just took (I could avoid going next to it and go home, the highway was in some spots closed), a man went there and it is presumed he got a bomb and is armed. GIGN on the way.

  • Western world is constantly under attack, basically at war with Jihadists, but the Pope is too weak in influence to dare declare a Crusade in response.

    yes

make it a full subforum, not just one thread

  • You say that like it's a bad thing.

The youngest was rushed to the hospital with a punctured lung. The other three were taken to a closer hospital with less serious injuries. They all have serious but not life threatening injuries.

EDIT: And the guy has been arrested. Apparently the mother had taken care of the man the day before when he was feeling ill.

Are they okay? What happened to the guy?

  • Where are you?

  • The stuff happened in Bollene.

    He apparently surrendered.

  • I prefer attacking them over seeing the locations where I often am being flooded by islamic fanatics, I don't intend to sheepishly wait till one of their terrorists kills me. Even ancients knew you better take the battle to the enemy than let the enemy fight on your territory.

  • Pope should totally declare the long awaited Tenth Crusade.

    Deus Vult, lads!

  • So why would you want that through the Catholic church? Why would you want to empower a crazy religious organization? Isn't that what you're fighting against?

  • Nope, my family fought for centuries against Islamic invasion of Europe, until the Ottomans broke into the Kingdom of Hungary. I don't consider myself really religious, but the inaction of the western leaders is in large part the reason of the escalation of terrorism, and the only time I can think of when European nations cooperated against fanatic jihadists was during the Crusades. A wake-up call from the Pope would be exactly what is needed for the modern rulers to realize the grave situation we're in currently. Even a Christian 'fanatic' isn't half the fanatic an average middle eastern extremist is, because together with western cultured civilization religion also advanced and evolved, unlike their oriental counterpart.

We now even run into the danger of secular Turkey turning into an Islamic neo-Ottoman nation, we get constantly bombed or shot at in Europe. I was there in Brussels last year November when due to attacks subway was shut down and together with a Paradox game modder called Gigau we barely avoided the danger. After I returned home he was this year once again in risk, and only because he missed his ride did he avoid getting into the bloody mess. So yes, I say: If they love so much to shout Jihad and such, they should get a proper Crusade as response. Take the battle to them instead of allowing their atrocities happen in the western civilization.

  • It has evolved as proplr have critiqued it into the ground. Never give it back its credibility or else you promote irrationality as a viable path, which is never good.

Going to war is one thing. Going to war for religion is another. If you have people act on behalf of their god then you're as close in relation to the enemy as ever.

Never let religion rise again. It's caused far too many problems as is (and continues to do so).

  • One must admit that France at least tries to improve security

    http://www.thelocal.fr/20160719/what-has-france-done-to-fight-terrorism

but obviously it is still not enough

  • Quotes from an article:

Initial reports claimed the man struck because he was angered by the women being "scantily dressed," but a local prosecutor has denied this.

That's awful but I doubt it has any correlation to terrorism.

Their injuries are serious but not life-threatening, hospital sources said.

But thankfully at least no one died.

  • Unlikely; it would be obliterated by the Thread Mjölnir.
