Astro Boy.
I'd say my favorite anime has become Attack On Titan - I love it from it's lore, to it's characters, music and art style
It is a tie between Gate and Another, Another because of the large amount of bloodshed as it progresses, Gate because it was a mix between modern and ancient combat.
Probably Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, which is easy to tell from my avatar. The lore, the amazing characters, the fulfilling ending.
Welcome to the NHK, Beck: Mongolian chop Squad, or Nana.
With you on that!
Attack on Titan. I just love its premise and atmosphere. As an addition, the constant use of German lyrics gives me an avenue to hone my ear for the language (as incorrect as the pronunciation may be. German and Japanese are nearly as different languages can be, though)
Side note: I prefer the dub; Armin's Japanese actor is laughable and Mercer kills it as Levi.
I only have three, don't watch much tv. They are: Samurai Champloo, Spirited away, and Steamboy
I have a few ones right now.
Code Geass (Lelouch is my all time favourite), Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai although I loved the first season as much as this second one, Your Lie in April (I don't remember crying that much and hard since...my night crying sessions I guess) & Yahari Ore (blahblahlongname) season 2.
Rant. Over. Thanks.
Only thing I don't really like about the dub is Eren's titan roar.
Full Metal Alchemist or Cowboy Beebop. I go back and forth.
Mobile Suit Gundam Franchise
To be honest, the Mobile Suit Gundam Universal Century which comprises of a number of TV Series, OVA series and movies, based mostly within a 20 year period of the Universal Century Time line. It's very hard to choose which one particular is my favorite as I think some of them are better than others and I like so many of them that really don't want to choose. They all kind of tie into each other into one long continuous story/world.
Though I guess if I had to choose which one in particular it would have to be Mobile Suit Gundam 0080 War in the Pocket (Pocket War in Japan) Name is meant to describe really that almost the entire 6 episode OVA short series takes place inside a single space colony. The conflict that rises up in it is pretty much a war within a pocket of a much larger war. Odd but brilliant choice in a name personally. It has to be one of the most serious mecha anime productions I've had the pleasure of seeing. Though the story focuses around an 11 year old boy, one of the main story drives that the production revolves around is deception and lies, which having an 11 year old protagonist interacting lying to and being lied to by adults at the same time is just wonderful. So it actually works very well having an 11 year old protagonist. The anime feels innocent with the cast, and music, until you run into those times every other episode were the production becomes insanely serious, ie people are dying all around, when battle erupts, not even the main cast, especially the cast are immune to it either. To be honest, despite being a production that saw it's first episode released in 1989, I think it still looks beautiful. I find it ironic as well, because when I was in high school this was my least liked Gundam OVA short series. But it's charm has stuck all these years, it's less straight forward serious tone, ie doesn't shove it down your throat when it comes to it's serious themes, just stuck out as a grew older, while other Gundam OVAs kind of feel meh or a tad cliche for anti war mech anime. 0080 just stands out.
Honestly, if it's a Gundam OVA short series, I'd highly recommend them all to everyone. They're all wonderful animations. Having to choose between which one is my favorite is actually quite painful as I love them all as if they're my children, and their DVDs are like some of my most prized possessions. As long as you don't end up watching the "REMASTERED" Version which they change the sound effects..... They like rip a hole in my soul every time I tried to watch one of the remastered versions. Would be like a Tie Fighter, not sounding like a Tie Fighter.
I love how passionate you are every time you start to talk about it.
Called being a tinfoil hat worthy fan. Which is funny as the first Gundam anime I ever saw I ended up hating it so. lol But man when they started playing the OVA short series on Cartoon Network one after another. I blame Toonami for spoiling me. As I find it hard to enjoy a lot of anime because when they put those Gundam OVAs on TV they kind of spoiled me with mini series quality programming vs TV quality programming. I know much prefer OVA and movies vs anime TV shows, by a land slide often.
That being said, the sound track for 0080 is charming. This one actually makes me sad, as parts of it were used in some very happy and sad moments. I don't think the uploader could of picked a more perfect picture as well. Charming music, but when compared to the horror of the fear on that character's face. Kind of what I meant about how innocent the program presents itself at times, but suddenly becomes many levels beyond just serious.
I think it was their plan as well. In 1988 when production started. Gundam fans in general were teens and young adults. Older fans had already grown up. 0080 was made for those older fans, since they actually had money to buy the product. It plays on viewer's childhood. When we are kids, including teenagers we get all excited argue over who's giant robot is the best giant robot, and etc etc.... themes that actually exist in the OVA as well being the school kids are constantly arguing/fighting about stuff, like kids do and some BIG kids (adults who still have that heart) do. It's part of the brilliance of the show. The protagonist is the Gundam FAN, thrown into a Gundam Universe, doing whatever he can to become a part of it directly and the protagonist does that very thing, cheats, lies, and bribes people so he can feel like he is part of the war.... his excitement is that of a Gundam FAN. But then the program spins on his naive view.
I actually thought that you'd also add Guilty Crown on the list, considering that you looked like being a huge fan of it a few months ago. ^^
It was my first anime ever and I finished it like in November so it's not my favourite anymore since I watched like 50 new anime.
I agree with CrazedRabbit.
Oh shit, really? I thought you actually watched other anime before watching Guilty Crown.
Lel I should get to know you better. Like, way more.
I prefer manga, but there is 3 anime that i really like.
Honorable mention, the fourth episode of Fullmetal Alchemist specials. Yet another man's battlefield. Which is a must for those that like Roy Mustang.
fave anime gotta be trigun loved the story the style the music and how everyone has great taste in sunglasses second is trinity blood (where my avatar is from) third on my list is death note
Nah, @GuiltyKingOumaShu recommended me Guilty Crown and that is how I got interested in anime, although I am sure most of people have watched either Pokemon or Digimon.
Getting to know each other better sounds quite interesting.
Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. It has a large cast of interesting characters. A solid and strong story. Very exciting action. And such a warm, conclusive and satisfying ending to a story that only Tales from the Borderlands has managed to make me feel this way again.
You are crazed.
;D BAM DUM TSS
Egads! No dubs! Never ever dubs, always go with subs.
o_O
Enjoy text walls eh? I just watched the movie compilation version of Gundam Thunderbolt, called December Sky. Love that like Unicorn and Origin they made it in Japanese and in English at the same time. Tempted in buying it now, I hated the first episode of Thunderbolt but the annoying stuff in the movie version are gone. Climax is one heck of a one sided fight but in a similar fashion to how the Finnish gave the Soviets a black eye. It's nice seeing the under dogs put up a good fight in a believable scenario as well, ie underdog winning against all odds is not a believable scenario. Story is insanely dark, a tad too dark for my taste, but it has that "Antagonist are not cannon fodder, and should be treated as a real military threat." That has made Gundam, well at least the old school stuff and OVA series such a wonderful treat.
Probably One Piece as my current favorite (I just love watching characters go on an adventure across their own world). I'd probably also add FMA and FMAB as well as Detective Conan (whenever the protagonist pulls off some smart stuff it's insanely impressive and elaborate).
Yeah, and I'm one of those people. Dear god, my childhood. ;_;
Haha, yeah... we've known each other for almost a year, and we shitposting with each other 90% of the time. xD
I can't wait for Season 2, hopefully it doesn't get pushed back to 2018 :x
I am confident in it's release next year after this was released.

Oh come on, is this the dub hater bandwagon? There's always elitists saying that dubs are for peasants. Guess this argument was going to happen sooner or later.
What's wrong with dubs? I for one do not enjoy 50% of my anime watch time being spent reading subtitles. I also connect a lot more to characters when I can actually understand what's coming out of their mouth's. I find english voice actors better than the japanese ones 90% of the time anyway.
yes
they are bad, always bad, not just in case of anime but also various movies, it is always best to watch something with the original voices
I guess you could be biased if English is your native language, I'm Hungarian and watch everything in native languages with subs if needed. French movies, English series, Japanese anime, Russian cartoons when I was a kid, for a while even South American soaps before I had enough of that genre
No, they're not. FMAB's dub is glorious, Kill la Kill's dub is great and tons of other dubs.
My native language isn't english, I just prefer actually understanding my anime and getting to watch it instead of reading dumb subtitles.
I don't like English dubs, the voice actors don't sound trained for the job in most cases, and the voices are too deep compared to the original voices
I myself learned most languages by watching subbed shows first, I wouldn't list Japanese yet as a known language but I'm getting there, at least with the spoken part.
Could say the same about japanese VA's, they all sounds the same to me and I find them horribly boring.
If I wanted to learn japanese I'd attend lessons.
Let's just agree on disagreeing then.
I do plan to learn Japanese properly later, but to be honest the 3 forms of writing scares me. I currently learn French and Greek.
You are overreacting, it's not as if all dubs are shit. Of course, original is original, but "Japanese VA's emotions <33" aren't the only emotion in the world tbh.
Hahahaha shitposting, that's true. Kinda sad. But dank.
Where's Natalie though? Haven't seen her in a while.
Um..I like Death Note. Yay.
