Apparently I missed the only part of the Olympics I might have moderately been interested in - women's volleyball. I like volleyball, have a thing for tall women (to be a pig for a moment), plus we spanked the Japanese.

If none of you heard of Yusra Mardini, she has an amazing story that you should all look up, and even though she didn't medal, she won her first heat which is incredible for a girl from war torn Syria.

Another touching story for swimming, a false starter got a second chance to race.

And one of my favorite from yesterday, Katinka Hosszu, whose been the rated the best all around female swimmer for years but has never medalled at the Olympics, put her foot down and smoked the competition and the world record. Also her husband is an entertaining cheerer. (And I am disgusted by those who accuse her of doping)

Also keeping a big eye on fencing along with kayaking. (In truth I love following all the sports, and will have to play catch up cause I won't have access to tv or internet for a week)

  • The opening cermonies are usually my favorites, but Rio's ceremony was rather weak. It wasn't really that exciting. Quite boring. Maybe they were on a tight budget.

  • Lilly King is not to pleased with the Olympics for letting Yulia Efimova compete.

  • Have you got dead or alive extreme 3?

It's disgusting they are letting drug cheats compete...too soft.
Good on the athletes for speaking out, these losers should be shamed, same with that Chinese Sun Yang, he has already been banned before why are these people still allowed to compete? It's so pathetic.

Lilly King is not to pleased with the Olympics for letting Yulia Efimova compete.

  • So, as of right now, China has the most Gold medals overall (7) and second most medals overall (16), America has the most medals overall (22), and Russia has the third most medals overall (12).

Fun-Fact I'm going to mention because the United States of America is Best America: USA has won more medals at the olympics than any other nation with a grand total of 2,684 medals since 1896.

  • I'm actually, from the town she went to highschool in! The City sectional swim meets are held about three blocks from my work. After a win,her and her family would come in and have dinner. Mostly flame grilled chicken salad or sandwiches.... Givin here last name, guess where I work! So proud to have had even the smallest part in her history. Also a bit sad because they were such good regular customers and that most likely that has come to end! I served food to a future Gold Medal winner. I even got the finger wave because the kitchen sent up deep fried not grille chicken! Congradulations kiddo! She said she would and did it. Most people are all talk, she has proven me wrong and now the world! Glady eating crow now! dragonfire out!

  • Might have heard wrong, but wasn't the first person to win a gold medal for America this year only 16 years old?

Russian: One athlet (can't remember her name) took drugs twice, she's still there.

China: Swimmer was proven to take drugs but after 3 months he can already be back and win gold medals. (you've got to be caught three times to be totally eliminated..)
And on the same time Russian "paralympics" athlets won't play this year because of doping. When they certainly were the ones who didn't take a part in doping.
Not to mention those who aren't caught..

I'm still watching it, but it kinda removes the fun.

  • Regardless of whether these people have doping history or not, as far as I'm concerned psychological harassment is not acceptable and goes against everything Olympic Games ever stood for. Lilly King's behaviour towards her opponent was disgusting and unsporting, and the fact that such behaviour is endorsed by media showcases the fucked up hostile nature of today's sport. Now that's pathetic.

  • I understand why she was upset, but I kind of understand what you're saying. Her attitude shouldn't be that way. However, her being angry is understandable. If I was her, I would be angry at the Olympics committee for letting people who are using human enhanced drugs to participate the in the games. That isn't fair for the other players who have not used the drug and worked hard for four years to be able to be in the Olympics.

  • Field hockey has the dumbest set of rules I have ever heard of. I just watched the USA get like 5 corner shots in a row because apparently if the other team touches the ball, that's no good. I saw a goal not count because the referee did not see it. I saw Japan's goalie get a penalty for blocking a shot. All that in ten minutes of watching.

Screw that, they ARE drug cheats, ALL athletes should be shaming them, every single damn one, these idiots are ruining the one event that brings the whole world together, to celebrate through our incredible athletes and sporting achievements, everything Lilly has said and done is excellent...as well as the media. They are cheats and should be labelled as such.
I felt no sympathy when that Russian chick was booed as she got up on the blocks, nor her crying afterwards...too bad, so sad.
All they get is a warning and a short ban, there is almost no penalty for those doing/have done the banned drugs. If the media is soft to them it's will just make the problem worse, do you accept drugs in the Olympics?

  • Australia just gave USA a run for their money in basketball. Good on ya boys.

  • It's actually shit, all the water here is full of shit.

Some people are saying that it's algae.

  • No, they WERE drug cheats, unless they fail another drug exam then you can batter them down all they want but before they do they earned their medals and other places through fair sportsman like, fair competition unlike the athletes such as Mack Horton and Lily King who constantly slander and disrespect others just for their past. For example if somebody stole something from me and got convicted, sure i don't forget what they did but i don't put them through emotional and psychological beating for it. Sun Yang, got his medals fairly, Yulia Efimova earned her medal fairly.

  • "We're an Olympic family. There are 203 nations here. Yes we have serious doping problems, yes Michael Phelps was right he wants to be on a clean platform with a level playing field. We all feel that way," Ungerleider said. "But once the decisions have been made, go to work, get in the pool and compete with honor and respect and don't be trash talking. It's demeaning to the integrity of the Olympics family."
