Just because they don't do drugs now doesn't mean they aren't still drug cheats, and should be labelled as such, the issue is that they were allowed in the Rio Olympics at all. Efimova has been caught TWICE for drug-use (once this very year), Sun Yang has been caught also.
I find it funny you're more worried about 'slander' and 'disrespect' than filthy cheats who have used drugs in literally the biggest event in the world, kids look up to these people. They simply shouldn't be there. I don't care if they've 'changed'. It's soft and the fact you care more about Mick Horton and what he says is kinda sad, highlights all 'political correctness' in the world when they should be focusing on the actual issue.

By the way, Sun Yang was taunting Mick pre-race, before he has said a thing, splashing water on him like a child. The guy is an eejit either way.

Simply put, you do drugs, you get slated. No more Olympics, no more Olympian, done. That's how I believe it should be, these people shouldn't have to learn from their mistakes.
I will continue to support Horton and King, and the countless others sticking with them, they aren't afraid to speak their minds, and the added bonus is that the media (for once) isn't making a fuss out of it and joining in. Good on em. Efimova and Yang are worthless.

Let me make something clear for the sake of transparency: NO ONE deserves to be bullied over something they've done in the past. Under no pretext, this is NOT the way things should be handled on an event like that. That being said, I'm never going to support what people like Lilly do and I don't give a damn that they're pissed, that kind of behaviour is unworthy of an Olympic athlete same as doing drugs in the first place.
What about the core values of Olympics: excellence, friendship and respect? If these people don't honor these basic principles then I say they shouldn't be there as well. And it's not just that, there's simply some sort of human decency to be maintained to begin with, largely because, like you've fairly pointed out, kids look up to these people. My point being, those who lash out at opponents they don't think highly of should better look after themselves and see that they don't end up in their shoes one lovely day, that way it's better off for everyone.

Why is there so much fuss about Efimova and Yang, anyway? Seriously though, you sound as if these two sportsmen are some ultimate evil-doers, yet there are hundreds of others from different countries who were caught doping in the past and still compete in Rio, and I don't see them being attacked on a daily unlike athletes from Russia and China. Does your position equally apply to all of them, I wonder?

All of a sudden, Canada is good at swimming. What the hell is going on?

  • Thanks for understanding. And really, this is exactly what I'm pointing out here: by no means drug cheats should be easily forgiven, but if they happen to be, hate them all you want but be kind enough to let them compete fairly and not have a huge emotional distress after for something they did at one point or another. If one thinks of it as this much of an issue, the anger should not be aimed directly at an athlete, but at the commitee for giving them a green light in the first place.

I understand why she was upset, but I kind of understand what you're saying. Her attitude shouldn't be that way. However, her being angry is

  • Chilled, you obviously don't understand. Dang, these guys cheated. They broke the laws and the main spirit of the Olympics. But because I'm completely hypocrit (and rooting for these athlets/countries obviously) I will dare talk about the integrity of the Olympics family because of some bashing. Dang it's not like they should bear responsability for their acts.

Yes, it applies to all of them, I used Efimova and Yang because the people I'm replying to are quoting Lily and Mack directly. I used their counterparts, of course it applies to all Olympians who have/are drug cheating.
I don't see where labelling someone for the truth is bullying? The Olympians 'bullying' (the numerous ones) are doing it for the better of their sport, they are the ones competing, I think it's up to them whether they want to speak their mind...and speak the truth, to be fair. You know...maybe they should just forget it? Let's not speak about drugs in the Olympics, we'll keep competing, who cares right? That's their decision and their past! I'm not going to bully because I should be friendly to all people and respect them! Even though they have taken/take drugs, are 'athletes' with no respect for the sport they compete in nor their opponents. It's a privilege to compete in the Olympics and these losers just shit on it.
smh, they are adults, they can both take it and dish it.

Doing drugs banned in the Olympics, is a direct reflection on your integrity as a person. Don't be soft, they deserve it.
Again, I feel no sympathy, and I don't think anyone else should either. But whatever you reckon. If you'd rather worry about a few post-race insults, that's fine, but is that really the issue here? Focus.

Let's hope by 2020 they really crack down on it.
