What is the first memory can recall from childhood?

Is it a fond one? For me it's from when I was three or four. I was danceing to Dance the Night Away by Van Halen with my babysitter,at the songs end I asked her to mary me. She was like 14. What's weird is I have no other strong memories until like 10 and get my Nintendo(Nes). Is it weird that my first memory be of my babysitter and not my Dad who raised me alone? Just seeing if anyone else "tried getting hitched " or some other sitcomish thing when they were very young. For the record she said yes but I had to beat her boyfriend at arm wrestling. I didn't :(

My brother dying, and then my father leaving me because of it. It happened when I was, like, 2 or 3.

  • I was about 2 or 3, I was looking up at the second-floor apartment we were just about to move into, against a dreary and overcsat Oregon sky. I unfortunately don't remember anything before that, which was coincidentally the whole time I lived in warm and sunny Hawaii. 20 years later and I'm a little more fond of Oregon now, but I still get seasonal depression during the rainy season (which is like, 9 months out of the year).

  • Hahaha...

Falling into a pool when I was 4.

  • Getting Ravaged by Fire Ants when I was still in diapers. Something you never forget, never.

  • My bad, this is why we need trigger warning tags. Lost my mom when I was one month old. Due to a staph infection that could never happen today. Dad stayed but god knows he struggled, he drank and smoked weed, but he was there. Its easy to forget that not everyone had a dad. Though growing up I would have traded parents with my friends who just had moms. You begin to feel like its your fault these things have happened. It's not but nothing anyone says will change your mind. And if your very lucky, you live to bitch about it on a internet fourm.....yeah us!:)

  • My brother was less than a month old when he died.

And I don't blame anyone for what happened to him. He just got really sick when he was born, and...he was unlucky.

  • It's pretty insignificant and I don't know why but one memory that always comes to me is waking up and my mum already has a sandwitch made for me. To this day I don't know if it was reality or a dream

  • I was a premature birth as well, maybe blame is to strong a word. Not trying to pick a fight. How do I put this, see I don't blame me ethier not now days. But for me there has been alot of unwanted "help" lots of getting treated "different" because of moms death. Like I was the Anti-Simba or somthing. There were news paper editorials about the Hospital. A lawsuit that moms family won against the state of Illinois, that along with a couple hunred others changed ICU standards in the USA. Its really interesting,if you didn't live through its aftermath in person. Sorry for your losses. Need to call some of my family now. dragonfire out!

  • My first memory is arguably possibly my most tragic memory of watching a man die on top of me of a drug overdose. Being only a petrified 4 or 5 year old I had no clue what was going on and began to cry out of fear.

  • I remember a bit the pain I had when I lost a nail once.

Otherwise, confused memories of playing zelda with my bros on a hot summer, going to kid school with my mother, and dogs memories. Also a memory of when I tried to blew up my candles with my hair (kek)

I admit I don't really remember that much memories before 10 too and it's hard to know if its true memories or memories we created based on actual pictures.

  • I don't remember.

  • Kinda two memories.

First one when I was three. I was at the beach and ran out in the water with my dad, while my mom and sis walked in a different way. Anyways. I stayed back a bit and saw something white in the sea, so I started to wander to it. It wasn't very deep. We'll say that i was like 1 meter and 10 cm or something, and it went up to my stomach pretty much. Just in this sea there were A LOT of like 1 meter holes a little here and there if you didn't stay within the marked area. Anyways I walked in the water, and suddenly took a step into one of these holes and fell right down. With all my power I just splashed with my arms and legs in panic to get up and breath (which is by the way the closest thing I've ever been to swimming, now 15 years later.). My father, probably 5 meters away from me saw me and ran in the goddamn water to get me, he succeeded, brought me up on land and I was scared to death. For almost a year I didn't even want to take a bath (I did though, but I was very Anti.) It's now, two years ago or something that I started to not feel afraid in water, wherever I am. I still can't swim, but neither do I take any pleasure in being in any water except for a bath either. When my friends've asked me if I want to swim, and I simply says no.

BUT the important thing is, that I still don't know what that white fucking thing was.

Story two is a lot shorter. Didn't happen many months after.

Four years old. My father got really sick. He survived it thankfully, but he had to change heart for it. And soon it is time again. Anyways, even though he lay there and it hurt in his entire body he played games with me. Every time I came to the hospital I was allowed to bring a console and a game. I usually brought Playstation 2 and whichever of the tomb raiders to it, or resident evil3 nemesis some times. Or I brought my gamecube, wind walker or the legendary edition to play majoras mask and ocarina of time. We sat there for some times, he translated it from english to swedish so that I understood and we played and had a fun time.

Wow. My stories is kinda very dark... Enjoy. :3

  • Sorry to hear that. Is he still alive?

  • I was playing with a toy tool set, and pooped on myself.

  • I dunno if it's my first memory, but maybe my first notably pleasant one. I remember recording radio shows with my sister on a cassette player. I don't remember what we even talked about-- I guess whatever 4-year-olds want to talk about. Then we recorded music from the radio, innocently unaware of the future legal implications. But who can begrudge a baby's first piracy.

There's also some dusty memories of my dad's Commodore 64. Bulldog, Battle Chess, and Paperboy - among other things. Whew.

  • I remember that I almost drowned. It was scary. I was like 6 or 7 dunno.

  • EEEWWW. Holy crap. And thus a walking dead fan was born?

  • Ha that's actually close to what me and my cousin would do. Execept we were "commentating" Wrestleing matches as they aired with the sound off. Stuff like "And the Hulkster forgot to join the Hair club for dumb asses!" So a proto "Bad lip reading" but on cassettes as well as far dumber.

  • My dad tried to teach me to swim when I was like two. As he tells it (I don't actually recall) I had begged to learn how after watching an ep of Chips. But it was very very hot that summer and dad was reluctant. So a week passes and they air the same ep. And I throw a fit. So at his wits end, dad agrees. We go to the pool, all the way there i'm stoked. When the time comes to get in, I refused several times. So The Life guard calls dad over a she tells him to just toss me in. So he did. I don't have a fear of water or drowning. But I still have dreams of falling after an unseen hand pushes me. So half win there dad 10/10!

  • I don't know whatever this one is a dream or reality, but I can remember a time where my grandmother is taking me on a walk outside while I was still in the baby carriage.

But my earliest memory, the earliest point where I gain a solid identity or consciousness was when I woke up in to a lovely sunny day while my parents was still sleeping. I consider that point to be the beginning of my life. I was like 4 years old back then.

  • ...Running away from the cops after I kept pushing kids off the slide at a playground in my favorite fast food restaurant... yeah, I was a naughty kid.

  • The earliest memory I have is a little fuzzy, but it's still there.

I was 2 or 3 years old, and I happened to walk into a neighbors garden while my dad was distracted since my mum was out at work. The next thing I knew is that I had accidentally slipped into their pond, and I either climbed myself back out or someone pulled me back up before I drowned, and that's about as much as I can remember.

From what my mum told me, boy did my dad get an earful when she found out what had happened.

  • My cousin trying to throw me with a huge ass rock, and it passing my head just by few inches... At least I think that's the earliest. I'd say I was somewhere around 3-4 years old.

  • Plastic bike cycle spokes broke. Front tire, was fun!

Playing soccer outside the house with my friend but he kicked the ball up high which made it drop on the streets and a huge truck hit the ball but...it didn't it explode, it bounced high up...

And maybe when I got hit by a car when I was like 8/9 (didn't look left or right), damn. Was bleeding as shit! Still nobody helped me when I got hit and the car just drove off. sigh luckily I was able to get home.

  • That is hilarious. As dumb as it was, I kind of wish I knew where my cassettes were, if they weren't destroyed or taped over. Not that I have a cassette player anymore

The night I turned myself into the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Basically pillows stuffed in my shirt and then I remove the popped eyes from the rims of the fake glasses and held them over my eyes using my brows and cheeks.

...I was a very strange lad.

  • Something that I vividly remember from the earliest part of my childhood was my first time going to Disney World. I remember almost everything on that trip especially me being horrified in Honey I Shrunk the Audience. Everytime I go to Disney World I feel the five year old from the first time I visited come out of me. Best feeling in the world.

  • I was maybe 3 or 4, playing in our very small yard at the back of our old house, which is across the street from where I live now, I was barefoot riding around in my Little Tikes "cozy coupé" or whatever it was called. I had this traffic light thing that would change colour, like a real traffic light would; I was having a really good time playing cars with my Mum. Then it got ruined because I trod on a stupid wasp. I think my mum couldn't get me to stop crying so she gave me chocolate. The end.
I would prefer for it to be a happy memory, not one that turned bad.

In case anyone is wondering why I live across the street from that house now, we moved away from that street a few streets down, then my family got into some really bad financial issues and had to move into a smaller house. The house we live in now is considerably cheaper and we only have about 20k of mortgage left from the amount of money we payed off the old house.

  • punching a closet

  • Waking up early, then waking up my mother to turn on the Playstation for me so I can play Crash Bandicoot...

It's probably not my oldest memory, but it's one of them.

  • ...

Well did you make the escape?

And then after that day my teeth starting to hurt! Boy, that feeling when you trying to take out your teeth that supposed to drop and you feel like shit!
