I'm curious to see what your favorite cliffhangers are in media. Mention any of the ones you love even if you thought they were handled poorly later or left unresolved.
Please use spoilers going into any detail about them, I'd recommend using a spoiler tag and since those don't currently work well please bold the title of the work underneath so as to minimize the chances of people getting spoiled on something.

is better than
It's true. Skyscraper is a worse album than Cliffhanger is a movie.
Hmm.. Okay, I'm going to list a couple of Telltale ones that left me either completely shocked, crying or super excited for the next episode... Or all three.
This post contains spoilers for: The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead Season 1, The Walking Dead Season 2 and Minecraft Story Mode.
Okay... Let's begin. (I'm not going to list the ending of TWD S1 because that's not really a cliffhanger... Right?)
1. The Wolf Among Us episode 1 ending...
Snow was my favorote character so far.. And then to see that, was truly horrifying.
2. The Walking Dead Season 1 episode 4 ending.
So.. Lee is bitten and Clementine is captured by some creepy dude on the radio. Could things get any worse? Yes they can.
3. The Walking Dead Season 2 episode 3 ending.
Holy shit, Carlos is dead! What? Sarah, NO! What're you doing? Huh? what's this? SARITA!! oh no... OH NO!! If I cut the arm.. Maybe I can save her!?
4. The Walking Dead Season 2 episode 4 ending.
Oh crap, shouldn't of robbed him.. Don't shoot, please don't shoot... Wait, what? Is she... Is she asleep? Maybe- oh no.. Oh no, she's going to turn! Aahh! WHY, TELLTALE? WHY!?
5. Minecraft Story Mode episode 4 ending.
...Reuben.
6. Minecraft Story Mode episode 3 ending.
Wait... It's over? We did it, we finally did it. Wait, what? It's still alive?? Oh no, wait... Who's thi- GABRIEL?? [Who's Gabriel?]
Okay... That's all of them. (Yes, I've only played TWD S1, S2, MC:SM and episode one of TWAU, TFTBL and GOT)
EDIT: I just noticed that I put some just shocking endings there, instead of cliffhangers... oops.
Chase - Cold Case Investigations is a small game that just came out that was made by the same team who made Hotel Dusk, and Trace Memory. It starts as a regular detective story with trying to figure out a 5 year case of an explosion in a hospital, but ends up wrapping up into a decade murder mystery with the supposed killer still being around...And then it just ends after 80 minutes. It came out less than a month ago, but goddamn I can still feel the sting I remember tossing my 3Ds to the side and just started groaning till the credits finished hoping for a tiny tease. What makes this cliffhanger so painful is the fact that it might not ever get a continuation since its just so damn niche (I mean there isn't even a single playthrough on youtube yet).
Seriously though, "Same Bat Time, Same Bat Channel" will never be topped.
Twau
Jurassic Park: The Lost World; the greatest Jurassic Park film and the best scene of people dangling precariously off a cliff.
That's what you meant by best cliffhanger, right?
[Enable internet sarcasm] Ha....ha....ha....
Alright, that's enough cliffhanger jokes.
I wonder if there's ever been a guy named Cliff who acquired a particular nickname for keeping his friends and family in suspense after a long bout of depressive tendencies and threat of suicide?
I wonder what his nickname would be?
... Nick?
Finish up that last episode of TWAU. You won't be disappointed
I... Need to buy the full season first...
The answer for this usually changes every few months. But currently, it's the cliffhanger for the Gravity Falls episode, Now What He Seems.

Season pass...?
TWAU is currently 75% off on Steam.
In all seriousness, I'd say the ending to Hyperion by Dan Simmons. It's a sheer drop. I really need to read its sequel.
What, what?
Hmm, it's tempting...
I played it recently after you recommended it, it was pretty cool but the cliffhanger kind of felt unsatisfying. It feels like the first case of an Ace Attorney game without the other 3 or 4 cases.
The cliffhanger drew me nuts, but I can totally see why you would think its underwhelming though. You should really check out Hotel Dusk and its sequel last window if you want a complete experience.
For me, this would have to be it.
It's been 14/15 years (depends if you lived in EU/JP or the US), but only 1 more year until we get some answers.
