There's a Chinese proverb that I read that has a similar message. It went something along the lines of "You need friction in order to make a gem shine"

Mine's a song lyric. "You Can't Always Get What You Want. But if you try sometimes...you just might find.....you get what you need.". Seems so relivant today. Everyone seems to be talking only in terms of their wants. Too few of us ask what we need. Even fewer seem to even acknowledge that in America. Most of the time you can get what you need. To hear the web tell it, nobody in the USA has jack right now. And the Armageddon has come. I'm not saying its all sunshine. But all the negativity is'nt gonna help. Gotta have some light or we will be Doomed!
This thread instantly made me think of the Lion King.
It might not be so much a motto, but I live by inhale the future, exhale the past. Whenever things get tough I remind myself to look forward to what's in front of me while letting go of what's already occurred. The past is the past. It can't be changed. But, I can work to make my future better.
Live your life with no regrets! Live your life to the fullest, take chances, and be adventurous because if you don't then later on in life y… moreou'll look back on those moments and ask to yourself, what would have happened? And then you'll have regrets for not doing it.

My motto is "passt schon" which is german and translated means i'ts gonna fit but the meanig of this saying is i's gonna be alright. When you are uncertan of something for example it is verry fitting but it can be aplied to anything ( note: I believe in fate so thats maybe why it works so good for me)
