Even if it wasn't, surely Javi ought to recognise the team if he was a baseball player himself.
Maybe we'll see some dialogue between Javi and Clem were he says something about liking or disliking the team in which the hat belongs.

Remembering the "loud man with a magnificent stache" from his talks with Clem, he rips off Kenny's face and wears it as a mask. He then becomes determined to fulfil his fantasy of being a father to Clementine and eventually finds her in S2.
He tried to shoot a walker behind Javi's group but accidentally shot Mari.
The shot attracted more walkers which is why the rest of Badger's group was shooting near Javi's group.
Badger got scared that Javi shot at him for no reason so he left.
Francine got bit on the tip of her finger, so Badger wanted to cut it off so she wouldn't turn. He did this to show that he wasn't a bad person to Javi's group.
Badger shoots Francine with a rubber bullet so she can be knocked out so that she can't feel the pain in her finger.
Once Javi's group opens fire, Badger realizes that they're bad people so he kills everyone in Prescott so they can't cause any more harm.
Badger was raiding towns so he can give the goods to kids at the Richmond (this is why you see the happy kids when David and Javi are talking to each other in EP3).
