AFAIK yeah, though far cry 2 technically allowed some customization by letting you choose protagonists.

Thats pretty cool and would be a first for Far Cry, right?

  • If not the explosions and gun blasting, I would never think it was a Far Cry trailer. It looks more like some story-driven action-drama rpg.

  • Pfft, use melee takedowns, scrub.

Looks sick as fuck tbh, shooting hillbillies is always fun.

  • I think the concept is great and the characters look really fun, not to mention the trailer looks super fun. My problem with it is that Oobisoft is involved, and they haven't made a truly good game in 11 years, so I'm not exactly hyped.

  • Watchu sayin bout boobisoft m8??

  • Ubisoft has you wrapped around their finger. That is the exact response they want.

Because I pointed out the blatant pandering to the far left I am equated with TD. Lol

  • . @VengefulKenny and @papai46 - Let's try to deescalate the argument and avoid personal attacks, please. Thanks.

It's pretty blatant considering how it's hitting all of the current hot button topics. Muslim, transgender, hatred against rednecks. I di

  • I can't think of anything other than Outlast 2 recently that was religion heavy, doesn't exactly scream overused to me... Haven't played any of the Far Cry games anyway so I'll probably ignore this too.

  • I'm not a really big fan of religious cults or fanatics in video games either. I'm just sick of fanatics shouting "the end is nigh!" at me. I've no issue with religion in general though, don't get me wrong. I wouldn't overthink it though. Whether it has elements you dislike or not, it'll probably still be a good story.

  • When can we tear sh*t up with Pagan Min? He said he cleared his calendar for me, I'm still waiting!

  • Yeah. Well, the problem isn't the religious stuff itself, but it's lame execution is. To me it feels like all these rel. conflicts share the same, low quality and waste so much potential, especially with that black/white painting.

"Oh look. Another cult of blood-thirsty maniacs with the brains of cavemen. That has so never been done before."

I don't really see Religious Cults/Religious Themes being a bad thing in game; I mean I am a Christian and have no problem playing a game with a Satanic Cult. If it makes the story interesting, fun, and good, than I am all for it.

  • Not really. I made one comment about it, I'm not going around talking about it and im certainly not buying it after the quality the last 2 Far Cry games were.

  • Although I'm sick and tired of the "climb the tower" video game experiences, I will keep my eye on this one and hope that Ubisoft try and mix things up for once. It has a chance with me. I have no problem with killing crazed religious folks in video games, be it a bunch of white Americans or not as long as it's entertaining and somewhat makes sense. I realize hating on the white man is a dramatic thing currently happening right and Ubisoft definitely realize that too. They want people talking about their game and getting interested in it. It'll work for sure and as much as it feels kinda like a cheap move, I also feel they got a trick up their sleeve to keep all parties interested.

  • I'm still annoyed with all the religious themes... And why is there always an insane villain?

  • I'm religious as well, but I'm horribly annoyed with all the bad-religion type themes. It can give religion a bad name...

  • Pagan IS awesome! I loved the little calls he gave us throughout the game. I completely lost it though when I heard him shouting,

    "GARY!!!"

I know this lil easter egg. But I wish they did it ingame. I hate those people I have to fight for. Pagan is so fab, Id like to join my uncle and kill those savages.

  • Naw, with a game that size, it had to be a game all on its own and not a DLC.

I mean, yeah it could be ancient Kyrat but that's still kind of a lazy design. I feel like it could have been DLC to whoever wanted it as opposed to making it the full price of a game.

  • You HAD to be that guy, didn't you?

Cult, by definition; "A system of religious veneration and devotion direct toward a particular figure or object
    - A relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or sinister
    - A misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular person or thing"

Granted, technically religions can be cults IN A SENSE that they are a people with faith in something or someone, but not every religion has a "dark side" or evil intent. Please, just be careful with your words.

Also put into consideration; not everyone knows the true definition of a cult, a lot of people relate cults to dark rituals and satanic religious people and the like.

Religions are all cults...just some have more than others...and they are all rife for videogame exploitation. Every religion has a dark sid

HEY! Far Cry 4 was awesome!!

  • Hmm that's good question. I guess to keep things nuetral in the eyes of the player. It's easier for someone to take down the bad guy if he's doing horrible shit that sane person would never do. Also it may be easier and more fun to write a character that's insane.

I'm still annoyed with all the religious themes... And why is there always an insane villain?

  • Nope. I say they're equal. Gameplay-wise.

Fuck no. To you, I guess. Assassin's Creed 2 is considered one of the best video game sequels ever existed.
