I'm really surprised, because I thought Episodes 5 through 8 were basically "Season 2" in all but name, since they had started an entirely new story arc from Episodes 1-4.
So, if you think about it in terms of broad story arcs across all episodes, Season 2 might technically be the equivalent of "Season 3", storywise.
Out of all their games to make a second season out of, they choose the one that wasn't particularly popular with fans OR critics? That's an uh...um....interesting business decision.

The game already has basically had a Season 2 with the extra episodes. As many have alluded to, GOT, TWAU, & TFTBL all are in need of a second season, GOT even being confirmed, but they go this route just...fucking why. What the fuck is wrong with their mindset. Minecraft (before ANF) is the game that got shitted on the most and they already gave it more than the average game gets. Why the fuck are you making another season. Ughhh wake up Telltale.
