Badger was really a good guy:

Why do the walkers abandon Sarah's corpse under the deck so quickly, why do the group not kill Sarah after she becomes a walker. Because SHE DIDN'T. If Jane is pulled up then Sarah realises the group have given up on her and in her rage and anguish finds the strength to push away the walkers and slide out from under the deck. We don't see this as the shot of Sarah being devoured is just what the group ASSUMES happens cos they don't see it. If Jane is dropped then after she tries to help Sarah but abandons her Sarah also realises the group have given up on her and yadda yadda. After her escape she begins to build great resentment for the group and ends up encountering Arvo's group and, as an act of revenge for leaving her to die, she tells them where to ambush the group. However soon after she remembers Rebecca and feels awful because she just sent a Russian strike team after a group with a baby. She then encounters Jane who she convinces to return to the group to save them, while she has this conversation she pretends to be dying so Jane won't take her back to the group. When Jane finally rejoins the group she doesn't mention Sarah in fear of Clem getting angry that she could have been saved. Sarah then spends a long time alone and begins to slowly lose her sanity, she starts talking to an imaginary Clementine who was her only friend. Over time the fake Clementine's friendship with Sarah becomes so strong that Sarah begins to believe she IS Clementine. A short while after Sarah/fake Clem starts hallucinating AJ which gives her a reason to live and only makes her believe she is Clementine even more. Before Sarah's personality completely fades away she creates a Clem mask based on her memories of the real girl, the mask is good but not perfect which explains why Clem in Season 3 looks slightly different.
This theory also explains the flashbacks Clementine has in Episode 1 of Season 3, they didn't happen. The flashbacks were simply hallucinations Fake Clem imagined. The Jane flashback happens because of Sarah's strong feeling about Jane. It has Jane hang herself because Sarah hated Jane for leaving her to die. The Kenny flashback happens because Sarah remembers how the real Clem liked Kenny. It has Kenny in a car and talking about a boat because that is all Sarah knows about him, that he is a good mechanic and likes boats. The alone flashback happens because Sarah thinks the real Clem is a strong survivor. It has Clem hunt a rabbit but in the end not shoot it because Sarah can't use a gun. This theory also explains why AJ doesn't talk in Season 3, because Sarah never met AJ and therefore can't imagine a voice for him. After the events of the "flashback" Fake Clem went on to meet the New Frontier who played along with AJ being real because Clem was a good survivor and valuable asset. They teach her how to shoot. The rest is history.
