I was right...Lady Arkham is alive...well no body was found. I broke down and watched my favorite youtuber Jacksepticeye play it....quite a bit better than S1.
There is an epilogue at the end of the movie showing Bruce and Waller talking to each other in a diner. According to the looks she makes when Bruce leaves the diner, she might know that Bruce is Batman but I think it won't be revealed until Suicide Squad 2 but it already did in Telltale's DC Universe. Lol
Poor poor Lucius that scene made me so sad. I think the only Dave Fennoy character who didn’t die was Gabriel from MCSM and he still came cl… moreose to dying. That ending at first I was confused because I didn’t hear Waller say Bruce’s name then I went to see a Let’s play and just wow completely caught me off guard also since I didn’t see suicide squad. If anyone can explain to me how suicide squad makes this not much of a surprise that would be great I don’t care about spoilers.
That episode was fucking amazing, easily one of the best opening episodes Telltale has ever made (right up there with Zer0 Sum and Faith). The action was great, as was the addition of choosing certain actions, I love the new relationship screens at the end of the episode, the writing was stellar, it was well paced, the ending got me hyped for what's to come, and it's got some nice twists and turns that sets up the rest of the story. And of course, the length, 2 and a 1/2 hours long for me, it's been so long since we've seen that in a Telltale game, and I cannot thank them enough for returning to that. I hope future episodes, not just with Batman, but for all of their series, keep it up. Guardians has been good with 2 hour episodes so far, Minecraft was also around the same (from what I've heard), I hope to see the same with TWAU S2 and TWD S4.
Man...I know I'm digging myself a hole when I smiled in the selfie with John. The agency already thinks I'm connected with him, wait until they see that picture. But I can't help but be nice to the Joker...he's so damn charismatic!
If you're looking for a serious answer, three times; Lee (TWD), Finch (TFTB), and now Lucius
If you were not looking for a serious answer, too bad, because you're still getting one anyways
Loved the length but know it won't continue that way.
Found it incredibly hard to believe how careless Batman was at several parts of thi… mores episode.
I also think this may be the first time ever in a TT game. Not sure of this though...Where there is this weird new dynamic where the player KNOWS things the person we are playing as doesn't. Talking about John. Not sure how I feel about that. It makes none of the choices feel appropriate in dialogue.
Definitely one of the best episodes Telltale has done to date. LOVE the idea of a relationship system too, adds nicely to the choices we get by seeing how characters view you. Also a lot of the choices in this game were pretty gutting compared to the usual we get. And Bane, Harley Quinn and either Hugo Strange or Mister Freeze? Nice!

Great first episode. :-) Didn't expect Riddler to die. I chose Avesta over one of her colleagues, thought it was a great scene and a tough c… morehoice.
If mods are watching, I did come across one bug. I got the kiss and fond parting with Selina, and during the episode it was reflected by Bruce saying he was looking forward to her return in the write up. But when I went into the Batcave in the Extras section, I looked at those mementos on the wall again, and her write up kind of blinked from one to another, and it settled on the 'we had our differences, but I enjoyed sparring with her' version. I'm hoping it didn't change my import choice, or I'll end up having to replicate a play through to fix it.
Probably sounds like it, I didn't agree to his favor in the previous season (though I said so nicely) and ended up agreeing that I would meet his 'friends' in the end after he had a slight breakdown in the church with another guy (I was concerned he might do something Joker'y) and also revealed he might know where Riddler was (since Bruce wanted to get him bad). So I ended up with him being hopeful in our relationship.

Man I need to let all of this sink in for a bit, but wow that was a great start. I did not at all have the idea of Lucius dying so soon, and it did really upset me, especially after already enjoying Tiffany's character, and then having it all come crashing down after I told her the truth. Its the one decision i don't regret making, it had to be done and she deserved to know. I hope even if she finds Bruce as an enemy, (especially with how buddy buddy I was with John) that she'll cooperate on the case. Also mad props for Telltale for spicing up mechanics to make them seem more interesting I love the quick QTE decisions and the goofy names they come up with (Soccer kick/round house kick), and a valiant effort on the puzzles, they were easy sure, but it did require you to think a bit, especially on the fly. Now that Riddler is out a commission I'm guessing we won't be seeing anymore fun trap scenarios, but it was a nice change of pace while it lasted.
Can't also forget that last act. The statistics may not be split down the middle, but it honestly was a tough decision with cooperating to keep the agents safe or sacrificing Iman's hearing I feel like this choice will have some interesting branching paths considering Iman isn't deaf in some playthroughs. i wonder if this means we'll be getting some more screentime with Blake to compromise. Also Waller figuring out Batman is Bruce Wayne (as someone who isn't familiar too much with Batman lore) was very surprising and a cool cliffhanger. Wish we had a next time on, but ah well.
I'm glad brutal batman is back in a viable form. In the first season, you could be brutal in episodes 1-3, although the choice in the third episode was only there if you went to save the mayor. Gordon would get on your case about how you're a maniac and the police would shoot at you all of the time. But then everybody got a collective case of amnesia. It's dropped in episodes 4 and 5, like it never happened, and at the end Batman is suddenly fully embraced by the GCPD. In this episode, both Gordon and Montoya lecture you about how the Agency is bad because they aren't nice. My Batman has never been nice. Yet they're shocked that I beat a guy senseless.
Hopefully they let you stay a brutal Batman. I know a very small minority of players actually play that way, but it's how I liked playing.
Man, like everyone else I have to say that it was indeed a great premiere episode. It just had everything. Episode length wasn't something that bothered me too much in the past, but I did really like everything they managed to do in the 2 and a half hours it took me, so I hope they keep that going for future episodes/games.
I like the changes they made to the batcave, it makes for a great hub with all the memento's from last season. The action was dynamic/great and there were plenty of new characters with more seemingly on the way. Lots of stuff I wasn't expecting too like Lucius dying. I liked what they did with the Riddler, his contraptions reminded me of the Arkham Riddler a bit, but not enough to make it feel like they just copied that version. I'm excited to see where everything goes because if the premiere was anything to go by, it may end up being better than the first season (which I thought was really good anyway). Well played, Telltale.
Lucius's death was very well done and the way he says Batman instead of Bruce just sent chills down my spine. It wouldn't have been nearly as effective without that line. Loved John in this. He felt like a lost puppy so I'm trying to be his friend to see how that relationship turns out. Riddler was also really good in this and wasn't expecting him to leave so soon, but I'm excited for what's to come next. Finally that twist ending. Absolutely fantastic. I wasn't expecting it at all.
Overall very good. I like the new relationship system, being able to choose takedowns is pretty fun, choices seem much more impactful, visuals are a huge improvement from the last season, I also didn't really get any lag or stuttering which was great, and the callbacks to the previous season are on point (I hope we get to see Harvey again).
I have a sneaky suspicion that addition of Batman was only added so Tiffany can stumble across it and learn the truth herself (as nearly all Robins traditionally do).
And you're right about it being wonderful graphically and no stutter! I've been loving GOTG too but it's been often dragged down by stutter problems. Glad to see the new engine is really starting to pick up for them.
Really really enjoyed it!

Episode 2 can't come soon enough!
It's nice to see that there is variety with relationships. I honestly love how they're focusing on relationships now, I hope this continues with all future Telltale Games.

I do hope that we get to Harvey and the Oz again though, seeing the news articles abou… moret them and all that.
(also, wow Telltale look at that, you made another Season 2 that is a direct sequel without doing some weird new comer thing, good job)

Well I hope they keep the villain count down...there is only so much one Batman can do...plus I want strong characters...not just emotionless robots...you feel me?
I think Riddler is the type of person who feels he has to prove he is the smartest and of course deserving of respect....I think this just showed how much respect they had for him and I am sure that was a bitter pill.
You cannot please everyone...I think that is the lesson...I ended up with Gordon being my bro from another mo....but I FUCKED WAY UP with Alfred and made him vengeful....I am loving the new character relation system.
All in all....well fucking played Telltale....well fucking played. Season 1 was a blast...and if the rest of season 2 maintains the quality of this first episode...well not only will you have blown away season 1...but you may have a new series that competes with the best you guys ever did.
I wasn't totally shitty to Gordon and he kept his job, although my going behind his back to interrogate what's-his-face is all it took for Waller to fangirl over Batman
Comments
I'd rather see new villains of this universe being, according to episode thumbnails, Harley Quinn and Bane. Lady Arkham should take a break.
By the time I finished the episode, I really enjoyed a telltale episode in a LONG while. Now they just need to get Zatanna in the cut.
Don't forget Bluebeard!

So Amanda Waller knows that Bruce Wayne is batman. Sounds like we're gonna have to go along with her plan to make sure things don't go south

I'm glad this was at least as good as season 1, so far.
Correct. "Sets the huge noise on you"
It's called roleplaying!
The hell you say?

I never got the selfie with John, how did you get that? Maybe I wasn't nice enough to him. He's strangely likable at the moment, though.
I had that 'differences but enjoying sparring with her' line and I had them leave as friends, though I didn't sleep with her.
I'm pretty much best friends with John, maybe you have to be nicer to him?

I believe you get that scene with the other guy instead of the selfie if you don't agree to meet his friends up until that point.
Did riddler consider his comrades to be his friends? He seemed pretty hurt they betrayed him.

Really great premiere all around!

It would've been interesting to have the option to give the same answer to her question as Batman did, to see her reaction.
We can't forget Bluebeard, but remember that TWA2 is next year, his fate might change...
It's nice to see that there is variety with relationships. I honestly love how they're focusing on relationships now, I hope this continues with all future Telltale Games.
I have a feeling that if we get a season 3, it might showcase all the villains as well as new ones that we've met in the first couple of seasons.
Oh yeah, you beat me to it.
Although it fucked me and my favorite characters over, I like how the better outcomes require you to be a bit douchey to people.
Agreed...they seem to have learned a new trick or 2 in the Telltale dungeon.
Oh yeah...I agree, I just think she was too good a character to be a one and done.
Well I hope they keep the villain count down...there is only so much one Batman can do...plus I want strong characters...not just emotionless robots...you feel me?

Well, Bluebeard is a character in the comics (set after TWAU) so he should be good in the games.
The comics however...
