"Old" Telltale
So, this is a tought that I constantly have in my mind and with the announcement of a new season of my favourite Telltale game (The wolf Among Us),i wanted to know your opinions about "old" telltale games like TWAU, Borderlands, Game of Thrones. My opinion is that this 3 games in particular were the best Telltale ever made. They are not flawless but they have such a unic style like TWAU' mystery style while Borderlands got the comedy and Game of Thrones got a more serious and dark tone. Im so excited for TWAU season 2 and i hope that Telltale wont make the same mistakes they did with TWD season 3.
So, what are your toughts?

Game of Thrones is widely considered one of the weakest entries by the company. I respect your opinion of course.
I like the new Telltale more. It appeals to a larger audience. The only old telltale game that I seriously liked immediately was TWAU.
Game of Thrones is my favorite game by Telltale, but Wolf and Borderlands are a close second. None of the 'new' Telltale games have ever really connected with me in a way that the previous ones have.
It's hard to pinpoint exactly what's wrong with the new games, but I feel like they're missing... something. Passion, creativity, writing.. I don't know. I've personally always felt something is off about them. I'm looking forward to some of the games they have in production, but I'm cautiously optimistic.
TWAU is also my favourite Telltale game, always has been. The Walking Dead S1 and TFTB aren't far behind, but other than that, nothing else comes that close.
They aren't terrible now by any means, but aside from Batman, nothing else they've done recently has been memorable imo. Now, I haven't even tried Minecraft: Story mode or GOTG, but just the fact that I haven't played them (whereas before they come out, I pretty much bought every TTG since TWD). It's almost formulaic in a way, games are being pumped out and don't feel as unique in comparison to each other. Whether they put their own spin on them or not, they just have a different kind of popularity to what TWD and TWAU had back when they came out. It's hard not to say that it just feels like they are cashing in on popular IP's.
Batman: TEW has had a great premiere, so I'm still hopeful for TWAU S2 and TWD S4, but even if they are good, there is a certain peak that they won't be able to reach relative to our expectations, and due to how much the "old" Telltale games are revered.
Graphisms of these games was way better than the new style they tried to give they are not AAA games they shouldn't even try, they lost the comics books great style which made their games so special they had !
This makes me feel... "old".
I loved TwD S1 and 2, Twau and Tales from The Borderlands.
Game of Thrones, TwD s3 and GOTG were pretty week.
However I really liked The Batman game. So this is the only "new" Telltale game that I liked.
Back in our day, "old" Telltale would be games like Sam and Max, Strong Bad, Monkey Island, and Wallace and Gromit.
...or, Bone if you want to get super old school!
I read Old TellTale and thought of Sam And Max and Back To The Future. Ugh, I feel old.
But yeah, there's 3 main generations:
Puzzle based point and click
Choice based dramas with puzzles
And decision based action... stuff.
Frankly the direction they're going is.... disappointing.
Choice based dramas with puzzles
I mean, you could say that the last Batman episode had puzzles.
Well, the new Batman game is looking kinda good in my opinion, with Bruce struggling to keep his "hero" side...
GoT is one of my favorite games ever but it could have been so much better if given the additional finesse that it needed. Batman s1/Michonne is where things starting getting way too sloppy and half-assed, so by the time ANF rolled around it was already on a trajectory to fail.
Batman s2 is exponentially better than s1, it is clear that they are finally rethinking their old stubborn approach.
What was half-assed about that?
Batman only ran poorly, but the story was great.
Michonne was good.
It was the sudden drop of story certain story elements that shocked me in ANF.
What was wrong with those games, in your opinion?
Batman s1:
Michonne
ANF
I'd much prefer to see sam and max or an original ip. How many years has it been. I'm not interested in any of these games.
At least you wrote "old", because I was thinking that those games aren't really that old. Well I only started playing TT games in 2014.. anyway, the best TT games for me are actually the games you mentioned, Tales from the Borderlands, TWAU, and Game of Thrones in that order (that have come after TWD s1). The newest Batman is coming real close already though.. And Guardians of the Galaxy, which isn't getting enough love over here for some reason, and Batman s1. But before those can't say anything has come even close to those three.
Edit. The performance issues were seriously annoying in Batman s1, that I can agree.. unexpected too I'd say, at least for me. Every game has worked better, the old ones and the new ones.
"Who you call old?"
