Hmm... I see the similarities, but are we sure it's been ripped from that picture?

  • Uh why does this matter?

Seriously? Did you think before commenting this?
Imagine finding a picture online of an ACTUAL MURDERED DIPLOMAT and putting it into your batman game. It's unprofessional, disrespectful and despicable. The man was murdered in front of the camera. Do some research.

Imagine if I recovered an old actual picture of, I don't know, MLKj who was murdered and put it in my game to represent a random dead African american civilian.

Out of all the controversial things Telltale has done, I was not expecting this.

I could definitely see this causing a storm across news outlets very quickly. Telltale could be in some serious trouble over what they probably thought was a stock image or something goddamn.

  • I mean which person thought this was a good idea? This is not good for them.

    I don't know... uh... maybe... T e l l t a l e?

  • Yeah, I'm thinking someone thought it was a stock image of sorts and added it into the game, not knowing that it was a real image of a real, horrific situation. [I would think it was a stock image if I hadn't seen the news that accompanied it. I do not remember hearing of this assassination last year.]

Telltale, I worry for you now. A lot.
I'm going to wake up in the morning later and things might not look good.

  • This is quite amateurish. You could expect this from an Early Access/Steam Greenlight type developer, but not from an established professional one. Wouldn't be surprised if this gets patched out quickly.

  • I hate to make assumptions about people or peoples I've never met, but I can only see two ways with this one. They either didn't know the significance of this picture, probably did a search for "Dead Guy on Floor", and added it to the game without a second thought. Or they did know the context of this picture and went ahead with it anyway thinking no one would notice. I really hope it's the first because that only smacks of incompetence.

  • Oh boy controversy my favorite mmmmmm. I seriously doubt whoever added it did it on purpose, so once this sparks they'll probably remove it and we can all move on, but nah its the internet so we gotta always use this as baggage and ruin peoples lives. Its good it was caught and brought upon, but really should have been forwarded to telltale privately, but again internet.

Yep, Telltale better get this patched out or else they’re going to get sued.

  • Well...wow...I sense a patch incoming in the next week. Coulda taken the time to doctor it up so it could not be noticed. Of course makes you wonder if the person who did it was of Syrian birth...which makes it political.

  • Well sued for what...it is a public image.

  • Probably google searched dead on guy on floor to use as a base for the artwork and didn't realise the significance of the picture.

Yeah, as others have said, companies use stock images all the time.
Telltale probably didn't notice the significance of the picture.

They'll probably patch it and move on.

  • I am truly surprised and didnt even notice. But I am having hard time to believe that Telltale didnt know or heard the meaning of the image because it was actually on the news and it was a global scandal.

  • I saw the origanal shooting vid but doesn't mean I knew who the man was when I seen him in batman.

Starting to think they dont even greenlight these things. After letting the kenny/jane scenes go through with the final game and now this? Do the people who greenlight these things have vision loss or do they not exist...?

  • Someone’s getting fired

  • Wow.... I have no words.

  • Well, the news has made it to Eurogamer and PCGamesN.

  • It's already starting to get some media attention on certain gaming websites, I've seen articles about it from Kotaku and Eurogamer

  • This is awful. Patch it out and come forward to apologize for it. There are no acceptable excuses for this.

  • I really hope this wasn't some sort of joke from one of the artists, like the Maya the Bee incident, exactly because of the political implications.

Well...wow...I sense a patch incoming in the next week. Coulda taken the time to doctor it up so it could not be noticed. Of course makes you wonder if the person who did it was of Syrian birth...which makes it political.

  • I'm really not looking forward to the inevitable controversy of this. Hopefully it'll be dealt with asap.

  • Ok I wonder who thought to do this. Well after telltale looks at this stuff they will probably fix it in a patch.

  • I hope so too. Fuck. Maybe they just thought it was a stock picture or something. I really don't think it was put in as a joke.

Oh no, this is bad, really bad. I hope they fix this asap. I don't want this to become a big controversy. Fuck, this is just adding more stress to my already stressful week.

  • This makes me think what other images they made by editing in other photos together.
Usually these art pictures are made by hand to match the comic-book style.

  • It's disgusting and disrespectful, Shame on you Telltale

  • Okay wow.. this can't be just an accident? Hope they fix this.. and that it doesn't become a huge problem, cause seriously I think they need to apologize.

Probably googled "dead lying man" and thought it was from a film or something. Big oopsy.

It's literally an image of a man who was murdered on national television. If you think people are overreacting to that then I don't know what world you live in. The Russian Foreign Ministry are getting involved to get it removed. It's a very insensitive and ignorant mistake to make and goes beyond 'the internet'.

Oh boy controversy my favorite mmmmmm. I seriously doubt whoever added it did it on purpose, so once this sparks they'll probably remove it
