The future of Telltale's Batman and DC

I am pretty sure Telltale wants to make a third season, there are so much to explore with Batman. The problem is that I dont know if the sales are good...
But how could the series move forward?
Season 3 could be about the League of Assassins, we could have other villains too like deadshot or even Penguin's return. Season 4 could have full Joker as the main antagonist.
They could also make a dlc about Catwoman or even a Suicide Squad game. I dont know about other DC superheroes though.

Out of the Season 1 villains Penguin is definitely the most likely to return. Harvey and Lady Arkham pretty much had completed arcs, so I expect more from Oswald. Season 3 hopefully will have the League of Assassins, Talia, Deathstroke, and return of John Doe.

  • I expect Lady Arkham to be the major antagonist for season 3 if it's planned. I strongly doubt she will return in season two.

  • Sales were good enough for a Season 2, so I think as long as DC wants them to do these games they will do it.

I don't really know what else they can do with her, but I will admit it's pretty unsettling that she could be still out there, especially if you showed your identity.

  • No on DC superheroes. Blah. Yes to catwoman dlc and suicide squad and I really, really hope they get a few more batman seasons in. Yes to a full game on Joker being the main antagonist. Definitely up for deadshot as well.
Do not want supernatural aspects to go into the game so if league of assassins is included I'd like telltale to take those bits out. But I'm also not entirely interested in league of assassins if I'm being honest. I kind of want to get other villains in like killer croc, Hugo Strange and poison Ivy. I'd be excited to see how telltale would alter these characters from their canons if at all. I did want Scarecrow but I wonder if it'd be to similar to Lady Arkham?
I also would like Nightwing, but if they skipped the whole Robin thing. I'd like it to be like Dick Grayson's just some guy that Bruce has never met and was inspired by Batman and started doing the same. Think it'd be kind of funny if Batman was out fighting crime and all the sudden this guy jumps in, meaning to help but ultimately causing problems as he's a newbie. It could create some interesting conflict. It could even be, based on your decisions, that Nightwing either persists as a vigilante or decides its not for him. ....Think I'm thinking to far ahead. lol. Who knows how far this series will go.

  • They're making a Telltale Batman comic so I think that is a good sign. I also feel like the writing is gearing up for a season 3 in the long term.

  • I feel that maybe Sanctus will factor into season 3. Maybe the experimentstheyre performing will result in villains like Poison Ivy and Killer Croc showing up. Also I could see Hugo Strange or the Scarecrow being possibly tied into it as well.

  • I hope this becomes their next big series. Sales were good for Season 1, but I pushed how good Season 2 is to a comic book group and a lot of (but not all) of the people there treated it like a joke. Seems S1 left a bad taste in some peoples mouths. I personally enjoyed S1 despite its problems, and tried to get over the fact that S2 improves on S1 in every way. Luckily I think I convinced a few people to give S2 a shot. I hope this game does well because it's my favorite TT game since TFTB, and I want them to continue the story.

  • Also, I don't think it's an accident TT points out Lady Arkham's body was never found. Which is great, I'd love to see more of their original villain in the future. Plus it adds an extra layer of conflict if you revealed your identity to her in S1.

  • A catwoman dlc would be awesome, I would buy that in a heartbeat. Selina has become a surprisingly favorite character of mine recently and I would love for get more story for her. As for more batman seasons I sure hope so! There's so much potential here they can really create a special and unique take on the batman mythos. I hope we get at least like 8 seasons of this stuff I can't get enough, but ill take just one more if I have to!

  • This is my favorite since TFTBL too, I really enjoy these characters. I care for a lot of them this season.. Something that's been lacking since TFTBL. We need moar

I hope this becomes their next big series. Sales were good for Season 1, but I pushed how good Season 2 is to a comic book group and a lot o

  • I really hope they create more Batman seasons and I agree with the people above who suggest a Catwoman dlc story. It would be awesome

  • I certainly hope we will see many more Batman works from Telltale, but I also understand past a point the willingness to work on such IP dwindles.
I'd not say no to a season three. There are so many antagonists left to introduce, Scarecrow, Ra's etc..
It would make sense the major villain for season three would be Ra's, but I suspect Lady Arkham will make her return.

  • I'd love a nice psychological horror with the Scarecrow.

  • She'll return as a romance option for Bruce if you revealed your identity to her she'll be infatuated with you, looking at pictures of Bruce every night with posters and newspaper clippings stuck to her wall lmao.

  • She'll have a Batman doll like the one we find of Lady Arkham in the game that's kept in her room.

Pete Hawley: I joined two months ago. It’s been five years now since Walking Dead season one, which was an enormous hit for the company. We went on to do Minecraft, another giant hit. But from that success and that player base, how much people loved the company — through that revenue the company grew and grew. Pretty much doubled in size in the last couple of years. This year we released 17 episodes, which is a pretty phenomenal effort. Each episode is around two hours long. For a relatively small company that’s an insane amount of content.
One of the challenges over the last few years, as the company doubled in size and the amount of product going out increased exponentially — we just took our eye off the ball on innovation and quality. Before I took the job, the first thing I did was go on forums and app stores and try to get an idea of the voice of our players. It was clear that our games had become fairly predictable. The formula is loved, but it’s getting old. It’s time for us to innovate, get back to our roots, and do a much better job with fewer games.
We made the decision, going into 2018, that it’s better for us to get to three games next year and do our very best work again. Give ourselves some breathing room, time, space, get back to some real innovations. We’re closing the Walking Dead storyline with season four. We want to get back to our best with that. That’s coming in the summer. We’ll close out Batman in the first half of next year. We have a new IP that I can’t announce yet, but we’re really excited about it...

I read this today in an article.

I'm guessing Episode 4 in January and Episode 5 in February-April

Well the diference betwen 15 and 17 episodes (since next year we will get 3 games) isnt huge. But I really hope Telltale focus on quality over quantity now. I have a feeling it will be something related to Marvel...
Maybe twau or the new IP will come around the end of the next year.

  • Check thw waiting thread for epi4. There's a post in there that says the episode will come out on the 23rd of January. It's still unconfirmed but it seems like a plausible release date right now

  • Yeah I expected it to come around then. The wait is gonna kill me though!

  • Hope they meant closing out Batman S2 and not Batman entirely. So much potential yet untapped plus fans love it. Would be a waste to not continue.

  • Agreed, they are just now starting to hit their stride with so many characters being introduced and so many relationships being established. It would be a huge mistake and a disappointment to not have a season 3.

  • Oh, I hope as well this is not the end of the Batman IP in the hands of Telltale. I read his comment as closing season 2.

That does not prevent them from developing others IPs at the same time, but Batman is a sure seller.

  • It would be foolish not to do at least another season after an enemy within, it seems like these two seasons have been a hit with the fans for the most part.

  • Yeah, atleast one more season seems fair...

But I would not be sad if they did two or even three after this one, aslong as they can keep it good as they have done so far! :)

Completely agree. I would love to keep it going passed 3 seasons. There's just so much that can be done with this batman series, it has a ton of potential. I think they could do it and keep it great.

  • I really, really hope they keep the Batman series alive for a bit longer. This is my favourite iteration of the character(s) and universe ever, and it'd be a shame to see it end so soon.

Like I said, the best villain to return from Season 1 imo is Penguin. He was kind of put to the side because of Harvey and Lady Arkham. He was very manipulative and smart and can be still a huge less if he ever got out of prison. He was almost like an arch nemesis type.

  • I don't want anyone with the Children of Arkham to return, I think that storyline is played out. But Harvey would be a great character to return, and have a personal rivalry with Bruce and try to cause damage to him.
