I like the small callback, just the fact that the writers recall Arvo/Ben speaks wonders compared to the few callbacks we got in Javier’s story.
In ANF, we had Kenny and Lee mentioned determinantly a few times, and that was about it. It’s nice to have minor characters acknowledged in such a minimalistic way in TFS rather than flat out mentioning them like in ANF.
So Im just a little bit worried that there is going to be a bit too much of like "fan pandering" in this game. Like obviously I dont mind, but apparently this game just starts off with the whole "goofball is dumb" and calling back "le epic meme shitbird" so I'm wondering where that goes. I kinda feel Clem going "buckle up" is also you know... referring to something, but at least it isnt as obvious as shitbird and goofball. Obviously I want Telltale to distance themselves from ANF and please fans, but if they do it so obviously it feels wrong, it should be just a bit more subtle.
Overall I liked what I saw and already think it will be better than ANF, even if there might be a bit too much pandering to the old games. Still curious what actually happens in this game though. I will say something I didnt like was the rigged food with the grenade or whatever. I dont get that at all. Those people gave up, killed themselves, but actually had a lot of food hidden, but booby trapped the food to blow up. Why?

I'm assuming they didn't rig it before committing suicide, but it was rigged in case people tried to steal from them whenever they were away. Of course they could've disabled the trap before giving up to allow others the chance at surviving, but at the same time, if you're planning to die, what do the lives of other survivors matter to you?

Finally got around to watching it myself (figured I'd do a reaction to it) and all I can say is...WOW!
That definitely exceeded the expectations I had about it. The unscripted combat is still a huge plus, the third person camera really adds to the immersion of everything, and AJ is proving to not only be a likable character, but a resourceful one. He's not helpless, you see him contributing a lot to what's going on (Clem has certainly taught him well). It's not just Clem reminding him about what they do (look for windows, no hesitation), you also SEE it through the combat as we make our way to the car and in the car itself. Is it odd that AJ has already proved to be more useful than Gabe? Probably not.
The graphics are amazing, the environment is detailed, and the camerawork is insanely good. You can also see some parallels between the first two seasons in here, which I definitely appreciate. I only have two big concerns:
While I'm all for ignoring ANF and acting like it never happened, if these are the first 15 minutes, then I'm curious why they didn't bother explaining or showing Clem and AJ reuniting. I know they said the season would start out with them, but come on, a little something is the least you can do to make ANF FEEL worthwhile. Also, an explanation why Clem and AJ didn't return to Richmond and are on their own would be useful as well.
While the combat looks great, especially the unscripted, I don't want Telltale to fall into the same mistake as ANF and have that be a constant focus. At least here there is some innovation, so that makes it better if there is a good chunk of combat, but I don't want it to overshadow everything else. Thankfully the rest of the gameplay was focused more on Clem and AJ, so it's not a huge thing, but worth noting.

At SDCC last night they implied it was near the beginning, but not the first 15 minutes.
Could be a bit more lively, but it's also presumably the beginning of the game.
I do like that they are legit using the prompts and observation/remembrance messages to deliver some exposition and context.
Am I the only one who saw that couple choice and thought "crowbar?"
I also like the attention to detail involving where AJ hid, as well as him possibly returning the favor in combat when possible. I'm wondering/hoping if that extends to him offering the knife.
What you said was quite dumb. If there is food, and you don't want people to eat it, you don't kill them, as well as risk all of your food going away. You use other kinds of traps. Telltale don't realise how valuable food is, you're meant to kill them, and even if they take a bite or two, you've still got THE FOOD. Shouldn't be ''hey, you're in my house and that's mine so NONE of us can have it! ''

@Hillbilly_Dave Not sure how I feel about how Clem dealt with that group of zombies. She "stunned" one by kicking it in the knee then while it was on it's knees she killed one right by it. I feel like the zombie on its knees would have just grabbed her
Yeah, I noticed something similar with the first one.
I mean what I saw was by far the best gameplay segment I’ve ever seen in a telltale game. Also did you guys see when Clem picked up the anim… moreal skull a prompt popped up saying it could be used as a hood ornament, I wonder if this means you will be able to customize Clem’s appearance depending on what you find in the world.

Man that footage was great. About the micro choices we saw
* I'm with @dojo32161 on letting AJ swear. I taught Clem the word shit in s1… more and I want to keep the tradition going.
* I'm really split about killing the couple. I think I'll put them out of their misery so I can keep AJ safe. My reasoning is the same as Kent Mudle's
* I need more details about avoiding the grenade trap. I may avoid it if the outcome is still entertaining but the cinematography was great in the car scene was so good that I may not want to dodge it.
Well, I read all the comments, and that's pretty much what I had to say! All in all, game looks really fun to play, the car scene had me really excited, ya'll mind if I praise the lord? I had a lot to say but it seems that's already been said. Fuck is right. Right now, if worst comes to worst, I would sacrifice AJ to save Clem, but what would really blow me away is if Telltale managed to change my mind, showing me that AJ was more important and this human has a lot going for him. Sure, it'll put everyone's hard work in vain for Clem, but if that means AJ can grow to live in a good world with a functioning civilisation, able to eat cereal and stuff. As Rick once said, this world is yours by right!

Also, I am really hoping that the main menus looks good. This can never happen because of the new engine, but, eh, you guys are developers, it's your game! Ples ples ples bRiNg BacK DyNamic WaLLpapErs!!!

I figured the same too, but it would appear they "gave up" but why give up if they had that food? Its not like they were struggling, it looked like they were very well off. Im sure it was rigged incase people stole ahead of time, what I was trying to say was, if they had access to all that food, why not use it? I guess what Im trying to say is why they killed themselves doesnt really make much sense.

What worries me is that the ending of the scene, they eventually crashed, which reminded me of Kenny, maybe they are foreshadowing Clementine's death by old deaths or is it all just a big bait?

I dont think you can exactly compare these two but lots of rich people commit suicide. Struggling mentally is really what makes a person kill themselves.

It's actually funny to see Clem still get frightened, and AJ unfazed lol. I figured the couple would somewhat disturb him. But with him growing up in the apocalypse and all it's nothing he hasn't seen before.
Yeah, I got some humor outta that.
I'll admit, kinda interesting to see a character got for the practical(or rather, what would be the asshole option) without being a dick about it.

We see Clementine and AJ looking around this area and is unsuccessful to collect the supplies they encountered.
Now we see Clementine later with AJ and Violet at nighttime with supplies. Most likely Clementine told Violet that there is supplies at the location, at the same location Clementine and AJ were at in the daytime.
But it's completely understandable though, I mean this kid doesn't even know of the world before him. Remember when he asked "how many people were there before"? Yikes. This is all he knows unfortunately, but it's somewhat good he's aware of his surroundings and we don't have to give him the "Sarah treatment". So that only leaves space for us to teach him morality. Which may be sorta difficult when all he's used to is survival.

More specifically, the hatch was tied to the grenade, which caused the pin to be pulled out and the grenade to come loose when Clem opened the door. The grenade eventually rolls over, arms itself, and boom.

This season can not be worse than ANF. I think it’s gonna be better.

"I don't like goofball"
"But I like goofball"?
I guess we will found out, maybe

Gonna go ahead and put this here since no one did yet.
I really like the cinematography in the car scene, it reminded me of this scene in the movie Children of Men.
Afrer seeing the preview i am really looking forward to this ?

Translation: I'm lazy and you should just accept that I'm right and no matter what Telltale does, it will suck.

The McCaroll ranch stuff will probably be in a flashback
There will probably be gameplay segments and then dialogue heavy segments.
Yeah, I noticed something similar with the first one.
Standing and Improving
Oh, did it? No, I didn't catch that.
Yeah, I realized the idiocy as soon as I posted it to be perfectly honest. But hey, the damage is done...
Yeah, I'm wondering if you can throw it out the window/door if you're fast enough.
Just copy and paste. Or link it.

Highly doubt that. My best guess is the kids from the school rescue her and AJ (how the teaser shows Clem with the bandage on her head and all)

Forgot an important question How would talking to AJ go in that hub?

Did anyone record Gammaray live from SDCC today?
I'm shocked that there's not single comment asking about WHO THE FUCK THREW THAT GRENADE!????!
It was a trap.
Boobie trap.
