Do you think this will really be the last season?

edited July 2018 in The Walking Dead

I can't see this being it

Even if it's genuinely intended to be right now. The Walking Dead series is Telltale's crown jewel. I think they make too much money from it. In a year or two, I can see it being brought back in some way.

Perhaps a prequel with Lee or Kenny. Or perhaps as a new group in the same universe. Basically, moving away from Clementine.

What do you lot think? Is this really it, or will it continue in some way? If the latter, how will they bring it back do you think?

It may not be the last but It sounds like telltale wants to move on to other things, so it might be a long time before we get another walking dead.

  • This is the end of Clementeen's story. Not The Walking Dead Telltale as a whole. IF they do end up making more games, it would be hard to give it a name. People presume that walking dead games made by telltale are following Clementine's general story, everything's canon to the story that has been built over the years. Heck, even ANF is considered season 3.
They'll probably have to add another word to the title, like Fear The Walking Dead.

  • Is there anything to say that it's just the end of the Clementine story? All i'd seen was that it was basically the end of the Walking Dead altogether

  • Nah in an interview at sdcc, when asked about if there would be more walking dead gams, Kent replied by saying 'this is the end of Clementine's story' all but confirming there would be other games or spin off stories.

  • It should but it won't. Telltale unfortunately suffers from the same problem most studios/companies do not knowing when to stop.

  • It'll be the last one with Clementine as a focus, I think we'll get more in the next 2-3 years with a new character/group.

  • It'll be the last one to focus on Clementine, but they'll make a new game about a new group of people.

  • I won't care about anything else after The Final Season. I started this series because of Clementine and if her story ends, my love with the series ends with it.

  • If I had to bet money, I'd say there is definetely a possibility of a Garcia spinoff. Why else keep them out of the final season all together? In my opinion, it's a very poor creative decision. A lot of people's attachment to Clementine is fading after 6 years and her bizarre ANF personality change, so bringing back the generally beloved Javier could definetely help players feel more connected to the story. Honestly the only plausible reason I can think of keeping him out is for a possible spinoff depending on how well TFS does financially, which I think is an equally poor decision but...we'll cross that bridge when we come to it

  • They seem to have slowed down to only two games a year, so I can see them making one in 2020 at the earliest

  • I agree.

Especially if next year is going to be TWAU S2 and later that year and early 2020 will probably be Stranger Things.

  • It is as successful as Season 1 was, no. But let's face it, that's probably not going to happen.

There may be more Walking Dead games, but I imagine it will be a few years if any were to come. Honestly, not really confident to say there will be more. But you never know. Just hope this game is good, then we can go from there.

If TWAU2 really is like the demo leak, Telltale better leave the final season with dignity and never ever touch TWD again or any other game, like Borderlands.

  • The Walking Dead: A Newer Frontier hear me out they may seem to be dead but what if some are still alive and they don't agree with Javier's decisions and want to overthrow him. If that doesn't sound fun, then
    The Walking Dead: New Richmond

  • Am I the only one who thinks Stranger Things will come in late 2019 and end in 2020? It's entirely possible, telltale usually have two teams working on separate games.

  • You could be right, yeah. I just said 2020 because those are the only 2 games we currently know Telltale is planning and I didn't think they would add another TWD so soon amongst all of them.
