So, any theories about what happened to Tenn’s face?

I mean, clearly it is a burn mark on his face— but there’s gotta be more to the story, right?
When I first saw it, I was immediately reminded of Negan’s punishment of ironing people’s faces— which leaves people with burn marks just like that (notably Dwight of course). But I don’t know if Telltale will cross over any more comic characters (or mention them), and I don’t know if it’s even possible for Tenn to have been at the Sanctuary at some point since he’s been at Ericson’s almost since the beginning of the apocalypse, I assume.
Maybe not, though. Maybe it was the product of really nothing major. Maybe it’ll never be explained to us.

  • It crossed my mind, but I honestly didn't put too much thought into what exactly caused it beyond some traumatic moment in his past.

If it had to guess, it's either a burn or

    a non-infectious bite

  • Probably fell into a camp fire I know I've about done that a time or two lol

He convinced his uncle to let him sit in on his father's war meeting, but spoke out of turn and was forced to fight in an Agni Kai against his own father. However, Tenn refused to fight, so his father burned one side of his face as punishment for his dishonor, banished him, and sent him on a foolhardy quest to find and capture the Avatar in order to regain his honor and restore his place as heir to the Fire Nation.

Don't look at me like that, you knew sooner or later someone was going to post something like this.

  • My theory is: he got burned either from abuse by his previous family before coming to the boarding school or an incident that occurred while in the school.

  • You beat me to it.

  • He was defusing a bomb when he accidentally clipped the wrong wire, which caused an explosion to blast through his juggernaut helmet, only roasting the side of his head. Either that, or he got trapped in a blazing building while on duty as a firefighter, where the intense heat melted the plastic of his respirator onto his face, resulting in a disfiguring 3rd degree burn.

  • It was fried egg, but he did not know how to fry an egg, so it burned his face.

  • He just stuck a piece of large pink gum on the side of his head.

  • he clearly likes toys. so maybe he tried stealing his older brother's toy and got his face pushed into a fire. like a nice juicy mutton chop.

  • There's no way Negan would have burned him, even if Tenn was there. Negan was brutal with adults but he'd never hurt a kid.

Yeah I dont know how you can possibly think the burn mark is a "non-infectious bite" but different strokes I guess

  • There might have been a fire at the school in an area we haven't visited yet/we're purposefully barred from.

  • Ha. Strokes. He is an artist after all.

  • That's very possible. In fact there's a section of the school right by the "graves" that has collapsed. It may have burned down with Tenn inside.

He was forcing Rick to cut off Carls hand if not he would kill the rest of his group but it turned out be a test in order to break Rick.

  • TV show abomination doesn't count. The games use the comics as canon. The show it's its own thing, like an alternate universe.

  • Negan would hurt a kid because he stabs a kid in the neck in one of the conics. I think the kid’s name was Brandon? It’s whoever wanted to kill Rick after Rick had killed the kid’s dad for attempting to murder him.

HOWEVER there is an age difference between Tenn and Brandon, Brandon is closer to teen years so maybe that makes the difference. Maybe Negan wouldnt hurt young kids? Idk

  • Yeah the "kid" he stabbed was actually well into his teens, close to 20 I'd wager. Tenn is... well maybe ten right now, and Negan was defeated when Tenn was younger than AJ (assuming AJ is 6).

  • He was cooking with Chef Omar

  • Whatever happened I'm guessing happened before the apocalypse.
Police and/or firefighters saved him from a fire. That's why he got upset when AJ messed with his toys and disrespected them. Tenn seemed a bit too attached to those toys.

  • I think he’s immune and that’s a bite healing or symptom or something. That would be cool.

  • His momma dropped him on a hot stove when he was little.

  • Tenn's face was effectively burned by his mother because he reminded her too much of her beating husbando.

Also, Tenn has super-powers, controls ice with his right arm and fire with his left arm.

  • Part of the school burned down

  • That would be awesome.
