Which name do you prefer?

Throughout the TWD seasons we had many names for the zombies: Things, Walkers, Dead, Monsters and Now Wandering .. Which of these do you prefer to be called or would you have another name for it?

Comments

  • Considering the legends that already exist, we'd likely call them Wendigo if we didn't have zombie fiction here. Insatiable hunger, the evil that devours, the way the flesh strips away from their bones.

  • Walkers cuz its a classic

  • Muertos, Wendigo, Creepy-Crawlies. They're the best ones by far.

All the other names are lame.

  • Walkers and Muertos

  • Classic walkers

  • Geeks, y’know like at carnivals? ?

  • Dead cannibals

  • how bout this one
"those things i actually forgot were even in the game, like obviously i know they are there but each time they appear im always like uh?...ah,yeah,...yeah..right theres also like zombies and shit,ok"

    ...

  • Creepy-crawlies, that's what Chuck from Season 1 calls them.

  • Muertos, Wendigos

  • I really hate how every group either magically called them walkers the same as clem or they adapt what they call them to what clem does, Luke and co used to call them lurkers but when clem showed up they called them walkers, same with Javi and the boarding school

To be fair, it would seem that the cabin group calling them lurkers came from Carver, since he uses the term over the PA system early in the episode, and most people at his camp also call them lurkers (besides Mike and Jane, who seem to be new arrivals). If that was the case, them deciding to use another term could make some sense; distancing themselves from Carver as much as they can, even over something as minor as zombie names.

Otherwise, I actually kind of agree. I wish they used different names more commonly. Lee's group calling them walkers? Fair enough, it's a pretty generic name, so having multiple groups decide on that makes sense, I suppose. But almost every group encountered in the game has referred to them as walkers, outside of Carver's camp and the Garcia family. You'd expect at least a few different names; biters, drifters, ghouls, or whatever else. The Garcias calling them muertos was a step in the right direction (Javi does call them walkers a few times, but he still mostly uses muertos throughout the game).

I think one of the especially missed opportunities was in the Michonne miniseries--she calls them walkers in it, even though Rick and the rest call them roamers in the comic. Also, Sam and Greg called them rotters at first, but then switched to walkers after episode 1.

As for the original question, I think my favorite is a tie between walker, roamer, and lurker. I especially like the last two, especially how characters in the comic make a distinction between them (roamers being the ones that wander about aimlessly, and lurkers being the ones that play dead and wait for stuff to get close to them before attacking)

  • I mean, Molly was the OG Jane before Jane was Jane :D

  • I really like supernatural legends so having them called wendigos was cool. I just wish it was built upon more and that they did more with Native American stuff.

  • Of the ones I remember, walkers, lurkers, muertos, wendigo, and deadheads all sound good and interchangeable. I like zombies as well, though I'd rather hear any other term since it makes things feel fresh. I hate "geeks" for some reason.

  • True, but I think I prefer Jane. ?

The Dead. Honestly, if I was living in that universe, that's probably what I'd actually call them.

  • I don't like how they say walkers just like in the show. I'd prefer monster or roamer.

  • What? How could you not like walker? I'd rather call them "the mean creepy crawly hungry boys" than call them "monster" :D :D

  • The smelly patrol

  • Munchers: It's the first thing they try to do when you go up to them.

  • Zombies. Nothing wrong with the classic

  • They're all fuckin walkers, okay?

I don't mind most of the other names though. Except maybe geeks.

  • Creepy-Crawlies.

When the heck did that come up?

What do you know--an attention to detail involving Carver that I actually like.

I love how Kate is the one to coin the term, btw.

  • I honestly forgot Alex called that that.

Guess that leaves that Arvo plot line a bit indistinct.

  • Chuck from S1. He called zombies Creepy-Crawlies.

  • Either Walkers or Biters.

Survival Instinct (the Daryl game) also gave us Psychos, Eaters, Abominations and Goons.
