  • Yep. Choices don't matter, as always. Even in The Final Season.

  • Choising to join the NF or refusing the offer and inject AJ or put back the drugs did matter, it determines what Clem does at the end of E5 :
    Go with Javier
    Split with Javier
    Go after Gabe
    Save Richmond with Kate

  • What to do with the gun and marlons fate

Although I'm certain the choice regarding Abel will matter as in, he'll be alive but he'll kill someone if you tried to kill him

  • Even if these choices don´t actually change anything in the game, they do help you mold the personality of the character you´re playing. Which is important too.

Most choices in Season 2 only had immediate effects and no later impacts. Season 1 and even A New Frontier at least added more lasting impacts, more so S1.

Whether the choices matter or not is not the same as whether they have an affect by the way. Choices mattering depends on the player, choices having effect is fact based on the games.

  • what's the criteria?

  • I can understand some choices not having an effect, but imo the most unforgivable mistake Telltale made when it comes to past choices was Lee killing the stranger or Clem killing the stranger.

Whether Clementine took a human life to protect someone else is something that 100% should have been brought up in s2.

Let me dig up my ANF list and get back to you.

    Did Matter
Not shooting Rufus(for what it's worth)
Tellling the truth or covering up Eli's murder
Escaping with your family or staying with Clementine
    Tying up or trusting "jesus"(Dialogue)
Agreeing to Conrad's deal or shooting him for Gabe(the latter in a very railroady way, but still)
Using Clementine's notoriety to ease Max, capitulating with him, or refusing to stand down(dialogue)
Demanding Justice for Marianna's murder(sort of; they wasted a perfectly good plot)
How Badger dies(assuming the headshot/throat-puncture is visible)
    Rejecting Max's promise
Leaving with Kate or sticking to David's plan(for the most part; they wasted a perfectly good character)
Rejecting, agreeing to, or deferring on Lingard's deal(in a way)
Trying to save Ava or Tripp(not the in best way, mind you)
Fighting David or saying you love him(Ha--Gayyyy!;in one small unorthodox way)(Cosmetic)
Saving Richmond with Kate or Saving Gabe from David(Ew boy...;Clementine=Red Ring)

    Didn't Matter
Supporting, parenting, OR mistreating Gabe throughout(They wasted a perfectly good plot)
Staying in the Junkyard for Gabe(and Marianna) or heading back out on the road for Kate
Your advice on the card game(for the better)
Who you brought to the junkyard(besides some pointless shipteasing)
    Keeping the tape recorder
Surrendering for Conrad, opening fire for Clementine, or negotiating for Tripp
Saying Clementine is a delinquent and/or a bad influence on Gabe
Betraying Clementine(and Gabe)'s trust in favor of Conrad's plan
Taking Lingard's advice on not injecting the medicine into AJ(thanks a lot "Chris")
Accepting Max's offer(in the long term; they wasted a perfectly good character)
Sympathizing with Joan or persisting for David
Promising to take care David's family or not
Sharing or not returning Kate's feelings(in terms of what I've seen regarding the endings at least; correct me if there's a 3rd+ difference I don't know about)
Taking Clint's deal or shooting Joan for David(and a mothafuckin nosedive!)
Over half the shit in From the Gallows, really

  • There's only one episode out. Hold your horses.

  • I live for the experience for the ttg.
If anyone wants "choices" to actually matter go play Detroit become human.

Teaching Sarah to shoot in Season 2. It never even comes up again.

  • ^This
In the end none of the choices matter, just play for the story.

  • I don't really see Walking Dead as a "Choices matter" Game. Its more of a interactive movie in which the choices you make moves the story forward but the outcome is the same.

Season 1, 2, and 3. The endings are all the same.

    Season 1- Lee dies

Season 2- You have multiple endings but the outcome is the same. Clem will eventually be alone

Season 3- Clem still leaves in the end

The game is all about the story of Clementine. So the choices you make will move forward her story not necessarily modify the entire thing like DBH, Until Dawn, Heavy Rain, etc because everyone gets the same thing.

Not saying that the Walking Dead should be like these games but just giving examples on actual choice based game. In Choice Based Games, the choices you make changes the direction of the story (changing a lot of it) and leads to different events and outcomes. The Walking Dead, the choices you make leads to one end goal while it makes a few modifications but the end goal is the same for everyone is still the same and the events are the same as well.

  • Umm.. In LiS, choices don't really matter too tbh.

  • It would've been much easier to ask, which choices did matter.

  • O. Well I never really played it but I heard a lot about the game and seen some gameplay on it. So my mistake

  • Never played the game DBH but I heard a lot of praise about it saying that its a great choice game and the choices matter. Also seen some gameplay on it

But like I'm not saying it should be like Detriot just giving examples on choice based games. Again don't really see the Walking Dead as a choice based game. Just a interactive story that keeps everyone engage and lets everyone decided on what they want to say and do even though they get the same result as everyone else.

  • Oh okay. That explains it.

  • The list of what choices did matter would be very small lol

  • ‘Until Dawn’ is also another prime example. I have played it so many times and still love the experience to this day.
