Is AJ a Murderer (Your Thoughts)
“Am I a murderer?”
A haunting line for sure, but is he really? When given the prompt, how would you respond?
I believe his action does mean murder. If you take the life of another, you are a murderer - despite the circumstances. I’d be honest with AJ. He has a huge lesson to learn.

He shot someone that wasn't in self defense. That's murder.
He shot someone in self-defense, but it was complicated, so it's complicated.
Completely agree.
Very much so - unfortunately not everything is so black and white. I think what AJ did triggers Clementine to her soul. She’s have nightmares “again” about the ranch. The safest assumption I can make is that’s Clem committed the same act.
Of course he is, he shot an unarmed man in the head in cold blood from behind. Marlon was pretty much harmless at that point, he was already disarmed by Clementine or he dropped the gun.
He’s a kid who doesn’t understand murder, colbyjack. What’s to stop him from killing anyone of us in our sleep?
I’m gonna be almost completely anti AJ in the next episode to teach him a lesson. UNLESS he actually regrets what he did and is actually willing to cooperate this time around, rather than becoming “satisfied” when you push Abel into the pack of walkers.
"Look at Disco Broccoli, AJ... look at Disco Broccoli..."
Yes.
I wouldn't say that he was a murderer, since the victim was far from a sympathetic person and was a murderer himself. But I do think that AJ made a bad choice in killing Marlon, it wasn't his call to make.
He's a murderer by definition. That doesn't mean he can't be taught to control his impulses in the future. He's still very young and no one should expect him to fully understand what he's done yet.
If we go by definition, then yes. He is a murderer. But its not like he enjoyed the kill.
Why is this is a question? Yes he is. Regardless of intent or any circumstance that's the simple fact.
Considering his age, he wouldn't be responsible for the crime he committed and therefore is not a murderer.
Top 10 times logic has 100% made sense
By law he wouldn't be tho
THANK YOU.
But there is no law in the apocalypse ?
True. Only natures laws exist now.
Hate to echo the majority, but yes AJ is a murderer. Whether or not the world has changed or his age, that is a simple fact. Whether Marlon meant to or not, he murdered Brody. No one is really debating that point, so why debate the other?
What should be done now is the more worthy question. Do you take the gun away? Should AJ be banned from all weapons while in the school?
Where did he say that? Was there a teaser I missed or something?
if he had done it a few moments earlier he would be in the right, he did kill someone but that really comes down to clem
This far into the apocalypse the whole "Don't understand" mentality is completely irrelevant. Especially this far into the apocalypse.
There is a teaser for episode 2 on twitter
How, exactly, is his age irrelevant? AJ's body, mind, and personality is still very much in development. If someone steals something as a little toddler, are we to brand that person forever a thief? Or do we simply acknowledge a lack of proper education from the caretaker?
He hasn't been taught any better yet, he can still be, and if I've anything to say in the matter, he will.
Alright, thanks.
Yea, pretty much. Even though if AJ saw Marlon as a "monster" that was trying to hurt Clem, ultimately in the end he took Marlon's life when it was unneeded. So, yes. He is a murderer.
I really like this thought. All things considered, we have to remember that AJ is just a kid. Even Clem says “You’re still little.”
Thank you for sharing
Yes. But if anyone had to go, let's just say I'm not crying a river because it was Marlon.
i can't believe they're almost a decade into the apocalypse and there's people who actually considered letting marlon live. marlon was the murderer. aj did what needed to be done.
But we've been in that situation many times throught the TWD games. Where our character has killed people and then when their buddied come to get revenge we call it wrong. (like ANF) They claim to be doing what needed to be done too.
God bless you.
i killed everyone i could in ANF and didnt regret any of it because it was less people i had to worry about later.
So killing Lingard “needed to be done”? Then where does the line between murder and justice get drawn.
he was literally asking for it tho ? and we needed the info. it was a win-win.
But it wasn’t euthanasia, it was assisted suicide (they’re both different things, google it) which is pretty much the same as murder. Besides, we knew he was gonna show up later to give us the info cos then Clem wouldn’t find AJ and that was a part of the main plot, so it’s a win-win if he lives.
nah i disagree. killing someone who wants to die is totally different than killing someone who doesn't wanna die.
But by law it’s classed as murder. I know there is no law after the apocalypse, but people still have a sense of what is murder and what isn’t, and killing Lingard most definitely is.
i know nothing about law but the word murder just gives off a different vibe for me.
Exactly my point. We kill and then go (it's what needed to be done) but when the NPC's that we dont like do it we be like (you murderers).
